    Gold Car Europa gave us a faulty car (and dangerous!), you could see the road from the gearbox.It made horrible noises and it was so dangerous the way it finally broke. Thank God it didn´t happen on the motorway. BUt tthe worst of it is that they asked me to come to Malaga to get a new car all they way from Jimena. The company insisted we had to come to Malaga to pick up a new car and finally agreed to send a taxi for us, the following day at 8 30 in the morning.     We were ripped off two times by this company. We did not contact them directly but were appointed by www.carjet.co.uk to rent from them. In 2008 my husbands credit card was charged of 350 euros after departure. This year they robbed us of +/- 150 euros in spite of letting the car beeing checked by the lady at Gold Car rental desk in Valencia. I contacted the local police today. We hope to make them allert about this issue. Could everyone do the same?     Like your correspondent from 2007, I rented a car from Gold Car at Murcia Airport in October 2009 and experienced precisely the same problems ehe did two years earlier...a long queue to get the car, the non-option of having to pay top dollar for a full tank of petrol with the ridulous and impossible instruction to "return it empty". And then found my rental was seriously scratched and dented. I went back to the counter to report the damage and was told: "Just ignore it.     BEWARE !!!!!!!.We had booked a villa with "FREE" car hire included,and also paid the Villa Company (Villaparade) extra to "waiver the insurance excess".Upon our arrival at Palma Airport we were shocked to find the massive queue for Goldcar.Two Hours,Ten Minutes later we made it to the desk.Only then did we find that we needed to pay a further excess as "Glass,Tyres,Keys and Underbody" were not covered !!!.They then charged us for a FULL tank of very expensive diesel(a lot more expensive than what it cost on the island).They told us to return the car back with an "EMPTY" tank.Not a chance !!.I ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Appear to be cheap - they then add extra insurance which does not cover tyres

    Returned from holiday to find they had added 150 euro charge without any consent from myself on my credit card. They refuse to reply to any e-mails and never offered an explanation until credit card company got involved. The charge was for a damaged tyre. After checking many forums - this appears to be one of their scams. They supplied an invoice which was not dated so it could have referred to any repair previously made to the tyre. We were in Lanzarote however invoice was from Alicante. I would be very surprised the tyre came from Mainland Spain all the way to Lanzarote. We are still ... more

    we arrived at murcia airport and paid 60 euros for our extra insurance and as we were having the car for 4 weeks no problem. When we arrieved home my credit card statement was for 120 euros , when enquiring with our booking company carjet we were told that 60 euros for insurance and 60 euros for petrol. I thought this was was rather excesive as the ford fusions tank only held 44 litres (44 litres at about 1euro per litre = aprrox 44euros)this makes 16 euros profit . Maybe they buy their fuel at a differrent source I doubt it. I would just like to make sure that other people check to make sure ... more

    We had a terrible experience with Goldcar in ALICANTE, spent 3 hours at their desk, always being dumped because of a customer behind us as if we were not customers ?! We booked a car from Goldcar online (using their Dealer "AutoEurope"), then when we arrived we had to pay the the fuel deposit. We had a VISA credit card and they tried using it and said it doesn't go through. We didn't have another credit card, they don't accept cash. But we used this card a ay ago for online shopping and t was working fine, never had issues with it before. We rang our bank, it said everything is fine with the ... more

    If you have a family and want and easy smooth trip, don't use Goldcar! Just got back Sunday the 13 July 2008 we booked in advance with Goldcar via CarJet.com Travel network and agreed 7 day rental of a Renault Megane Scenic A/C (L) vehicle code ESP10 at 159.00 EUR to be collected from Palma Arrivals Hall Desk. This was for my wife a 2 yr old, a 4 yr old, my elderly father and myself. (3 adults 2 children.)     I would stongly suggest that you do not book with GOLDCAR unless your hire is at least over 7 days and you know you are going to use a full tank of petrol. They now have another sneeaky charge of 8 euros which they slip in stating that the car is diesel and you must have ordered it when you booked. They know full well your not going to argue the point for 8 euros. The policy of bringing back empty is a real con unless you are a genius and can time your fuel so you push the car into ... more

    I would strongly advise against using this company. We booked car hire through Carjet and were allocated this rental company. On arrival we were told that the car wasn't available just yet. We waited for about 45 minutes and eventually a car was provided. However the car had no spare tyre - we only discovered this when we had a flat on a mountain road. We tried to call the helpline provided but couldn't get through. Again we tried and tried for about an hour. Eventually we called the office and they managed to put us through.
