    Rented a van from Sixt. They arranged for it through one of their partner firms and everything seemed fine. Filled all the details in etc. Went to collect the van only to be told that the partner firms insurance wouldn't cover me and that Sixt should never have made the booking as they were aware. Walked an hour home again without the van to call customer service and after a 10minute wait I got through to an advisor. The advisor said that yes they were aware they local branch couldn't insure me and they shouldn't have made the booking. They claimed they couldn't put me on their insurance in ... more

    Dont use SIXT. Past August we rented a car in Edinburgh, we paid by card and everything was ok. Around two months later Sixt sent us an invoice of almost 900 euros for arranging a couple of SUPERFICIAL SCRACHTES!! They asked us an authorization to charge that amount in our account. Of course, we didnt do that since the invoice is clearly huge and impossible it corresponds to arranging superficial scrachtes. Imagine our surprise when on February 23 we saw that Sixt charged 883 euros in our account, using the card that we previously used to pay them for renting. Sixt behaviour is clearly unfair ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Cars are dirty on the inside and collection area is very dark.

    I always rent cars with Sixt in Germany. I did an online booking on the 6th November 2012 and booked a VW Golf/Opel Astra/Ford Fiesta type of car for my wife and I who were gonna be in Frankfurt/Wiesbaden for 5 days. I completed the online reservation and paid EUR 262.95 for the car which I would collect on the 12th November upon arrival in Frankfurt Airport. My Credit Card was debited on the 8th November with the said agreed amount.     Do NOT rent from Sixt! I'm still waiting for £1200 insurance deposit to be returned after 12 weeks. I hired a car in August 2012 and was shunted from behind while stationary. Damage to the car was minimal and no replacement was available. I continued to drive the car until the end of the rental, following the company's advice. The accident was not my fault, the other driver accepted responsibility immediately and his insurance company accepted full liability within 2 days. Damage to the car was a little more than £300.     It turns out the negative reviews are correct. Rented a car for 12 days in Sicily, returned it unscathed (took photos of it to prove it) , paid the extra 15 euros per day for full coverage for, what should have been a total of 180 plus the prepaid of 385.61 euros to equal 565.61 euros or $722 Well, upon my return I checked my credit card to find I was charged close to $1000 for this rental. This company is a scam and I deeply regret using them. As a former German national, I am deeply embarrassed and disappointed in the blatant, deceptive business practices of this German Company.     We made an online reservation at sixt.nl for two days for a car and made the mistake to choose for the prepaid option which safed us around 10 euros at time of booking. BIG MISTAKE! Instead of two days we only used the car for one day and handed it back after one day on time. To our suprise we couldn't get any refund for the not used second day. Following sixt "rules" in the moment you prepay any refund is made impossible! In our opinion that is ridiculouse and we really wounder if that is actual leagal.     People in SIXT Rent a Car are not capable of honouring commitments This is not a honest company! Be aware and do not do business with SIXT Rent a Car. Sixt Rent a Car sends a proposal to you but then charges 60% more expensive. I rented a car for a week. I received a proposal from Sixt Rent a Car. Then when I went to pay the store manager said it was only an estimate and the amount to be charged would be another. The car was very old and crumpled and the same category as the original proposal.     We rented a SUV for 7 days last December in Danmark, and we have been framed when we returned the car. The man in charge checked the car in and out and said everything was OK and we both signed the return sheet, but after we returned home, we noticed an extra charge of 500 DK (about 100 $) for "extra cleaning" ! We complained and it turned out that some dirt on the floor is "unacceptable" when you rent a SUV for 7 persons for a week in winter at Six!     My wife and I booked a hire car from the Sixt "Belfast City Airport" location, to be collected at 8pm on Friday and returned at 7am the following Monday. We erroneously assumed that their Belfast City Airport location would be at the City Airport. Unfortunately it is not and we waited 20 minutes for their driver to collect us after being told, by him, that he would be there in "2 minutes". We collected the car from an out of the way compound in the shipyard complex where there was no lighting and too dark to check the car over before departing.     If you plan to rent a car in France Never rent a car in Sixt!!! Awful service, rude staff. French service was so crappy for some reason.. We rented a car in June 2011. We spent more than an 1.30 hours in the line (while others companies were really fast and let people go for 2-3 minutes), we were given not the car we ordered and - moreover - it was mechanical gearbox and not automatic - as we ordered online and paid in advance.
