For Sale: One Ring, Only 4 Previous Owners
Review of Monopoly - Lord of the Rings Edition by
CRIPPLE
Advantages: Playability, short game, playing pieces
Disadvantages: See review
...with it vast sums of money. And now, its latest guise jumps onto the coat-tails of the incredibly successful Lord Of The Rings movies.
So, is it just a marketing bandwagon gimmick, or has some thought actually gone into producing yet another incarnation of the game? Has the Eye of Sauron cast its evil glare over the ‘Let’s make money’ department, or has Gandalf waved his staff wisely over the design team? Well, for what it’s worth, here are my thoughts on this question.
Starting on the outside, the box is very understated, compared to the likes of the Disney edition, shying away from plastering pictures of the cast across its lid. Instead, we find a rather attractive copper coloured map of Middle Earth, overlaid by a large golden ring, with elvish inscription, to identify exactly what is inside.
For me, this is a good start, as it suggests...

The Fellowship of the Ring: Extended Edition
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Fellowship Of The Ring (Extended Version) by
danfellowes
Advantages: Great cinematics, special effects, acting, location, extras
Disadvantages: none
...■The Book■
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is the first in the trilogy of films by director Peter Jackson taken from the 1930-40s novels by J.R.R.Tolkien. The books were published between 1937 and 1949. The Fellowship of the Ring was released in 1937. The story loosely follows on from an earlier work by Tolkien, 'The Hobbit'. This is a tale of Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit, going on an adventure across Middle Earth and finding out there is a lot more to the world than just the Shire. Well now Bilbo has grown old, gracefully it may be said, and due to his adventure is outcasted a little by his fellow Shire-folk. Well 'The Fellowship of the Ring' is the turn of Frodo Baggins, Bilbo's nephew who lives with him in Bag End.
The story of the books is that Bilbo while on his travels around Middle Earth...

One Ring to Make Me Addicted
Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring by
jess0910
Advantages: Excellent cinematography, effects, players, music - it's HUGE.
Disadvantages: The book can't be transferred to film verbatim, a bit scary for young kids.
...are awesome. As I sat watching it, I was aghast just thinking about how much this movie must have cost to make. And they really have spared no expense. The opening scenes, telling the story of Sauron and the forging and initial changing of hands of the One Ring is unbelievable. The battle scene is immense, and when Sauron is defeated (not a spoiler, this is in the first two minutes!) there is a nuclear-like fallout which spreads across the battlefield accompanied by a huge bass roar. Rest assured that every effect after this is just as good.
One of the best pieces of filmwork has to be the filming of the hobbits against the other characters. Hobbits are a small people who are generally no taller than 4 feet, then you have Gimli the dwarf who is a little taller, humans who are usual height, then the Ringwraiths who are around 7 feet tall...

King of the Rings
Review of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (PS2) by
Collingwood21
Advantages: Stunning graphics, Sequences from both LOTR films, Choice of three characters
Disadvantages: Lack of variation in gameplay, More emphasis on style than substance
...Some weeks ago now, I posted a review on the rather disappointing Fellowship of the Ring PS2 game. From my thoughts on the first Lord of the Rings game, I suppose you might well be wondering why I chose to spend more money on the second instalment, The Two Towers. Surely I would just be setting myself up for more disappointment? Well no, not entirely. The reasoning behind my decision to overlook my earlier disappointment was that the wise people at Tolkien Enterprises had realised how badly the Fellowship game had gone down, and decided to do things differently for part 2. The contract was awarded not to Black Label (who were responsible for the Fellowship game), but rather to EA games, the people behind such great titles as Nightfire and Medal of Honour. They also made the clever choice to base the second game upon the blockbuster...

One ring to rule them all
Review of The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring (PS2) by
badgirl99
Advantages: True to the story, fun
Disadvantages: Too short, not enough detail
...Publisher: Black Label Games
Category: Adventure
I imagine you're all aware that J.R.R Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring" is an absolute epic which is now also a blockbuster movie. The book is massive - hundreds of pages (over a thousand depending on the version) and the uncut version of the film is over 4 hours long.
So, I was slightly disappointed when I completed the PS2 game in about 5 or 6 hours (over a period of days). Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed playing this game but considering it is such an epic story, I was expecting a detailed game that would take me ages to grasp with more in the region of 40 hours playing time - not 4!!
Most of you probably know it but here's a quick recap of the story. Ages and ages ago, the Elves created the rings of power and gave them to the leaders...

My Special Ring Piece Revised edition
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Fellowship Of The Ring (Extended Version) by
mortimus
Advantages: It is Truly special

...you ever had about the movie making process along the way.
This set of 4 DVD’s has for me redefined what is value for money. At only £24.99 in the shops it is a great bargain and totally outclasses all its rivals on every level in what it offers. I honestly cannot wait for next year and The Two Towers Special Edition to see how they top what they have already done.

More Preciousssssss than the ring itself
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers DVD by
Angelus
Advantages: More Awe-inspiring than the first
Disadvantages: Misses out some of the book
...kind of story you can expect for your £4.20 (if you’re in Grimsby - probably more if you’re elsewhere), well with it being a sequel its always best to have an idea of what the storyline is all about - so here we go then:
There’s A Ring, it rules anyone and everyone, but is evil.
In a Great War against Sauron’s Dark Forces Man claims the ring for themselves before it gets lost in the ages of stories.
Gollum aka Smeagol finds it and goes insane.
A Hobbit Bilbo Baggins, finds/nicks it and it eventually falls into the hands of Frodo, his Nephew who with help from Gandalf (a great wizard) finds out the true story behind the ring and sets away to destroy it along with 3 of his friends, Merry, Pippin and Samwise.
Lotsa bad stuff happens on the way (including Saruman, Gandalf’s leader turning his back on the forces of good...

Arghhh, those silly rings
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Fellowship Of The Ring DVD by
Neoxxy
Advantages: amazing graphics,and sounds
Disadvantages: slow character development
...Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
When I first saw the movie poster I thought the movie would be stupid. Then I heard everyone talking about it and rating it 4 of 5 stars, so I went to see it.
Unfortunately, I was proven right. Maybe if I had read the book the movie would make more sense. However, I believe a film should stand on its own. In my opinion, this one did not.
Let's start with the title - "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring." My high school English teacher would have taken point off my homework if I had come up with a title like that. Couldn't they just call it "LOFR: The Fellowship" or something less redundant? But that's being picky if the movie itself is good.
Now we get to the film. For starters I quickly became confused with the ring math: 3 rings, plus 7 rings...

Not Remotely Bored of the Rings Yet
Review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers DVD by
nikki1520
Advantages: Really well made, good effects
Disadvantages: Doesn't really stick too closely to the book
...This film is the second in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. I'm going to try not to ruin it for anyone who doesn't know the book, so please excuse me.
The basic story is that there is a Ring of Power that must be destroyed, otherwise, the evil guy (Sauron) will rule the world - you get the idea. Also the Ring makes you invisible when you put it on.
Anyway, in this film, there are three main story strands, which I'll go through separatly. It's quite complicated, so I hope I don't confuse you.
Firstly we have Frodo (played by Elijah Wood) and Sam (played by Sean Astin)who are both Hobbits. Frodo is the ring bearer, and so it is his job to take the ring back to the place it was made and destroy it. The only catch with this is that this place is right next to the evil dude's mountain chalet, so there are loads of evil...
