Audi A6 Avant 2.4
Review of Audi A6 Avant 2.4 by
iwaters
Advantages: Huge amount of space, bomb-proof build quality
Disadvantages: High service costs at main dealer
...I have owned one of these cars for over a year now and every day it has been a pleasure to own. It may not be the most attractive car; but at the same time it is not unattractive to look at. It may also not have the greatest handling or ride qualities but these are not what the car is about. The whole purpose of being for this car is to transport large amounts of people and things, comfortably, safely, and reliably and it is in these areas where this car excels.
It is quite apparent from the outside that this is a big car, however, it is when you get in side that you really start to appreciate just how roomy it is. I am 6'5'' and I could quite comfortably sit behind myself with amble leg and headroom front and back. The boot is simply massive with a reasonably low lip.
The seats are wide and armchair like; adjustment...

The Car with the longest name in the World
Review of Audi A6 Avant 2.5 TDI by
tagheur
Advantages: pace space face
Disadvantages: uh nope, can't think of any
...If you've read any of my other bits and pieces on this site then you will know that I am a bit of a Porsche freak. So what am I doing writing about a big staid Audi? Well, I flogged my Boxter S at the end of last autumn and Jan (she who must be obeyed) decided that I should invest in "something more sensible" in line with my rapidly advancing years. Having pondered for a while on what to do I decided to have a look at the new crop of big German "super diesels". You know, those big turbocharged Autobahn stormers that whistle past you on the Motorway doing a steady 98 MPH and getting forty-odd miles to the gallon - smug bastards.
So, I looked at the Merc 320 Estate, The BMW 530 Touring (BM's stupid name for "Estate") and the Audi A6 Avant (Audi's even stupider name for "Estate"). All three are absolutely belting cars and I wouldn...

Quality and usefulness
Review of Audi A6 Avant 1.8 T by
heathfield
Advantages: Style, quality feel, admiring glances, 7 seater option
Disadvantages: Expensive dealer network
...I am now on my second A6 Avant 1.8T so I guess you could say that speaks for itself, but company car policy dictates I drive an Audi. I bought the first one in Germany and imported it and was treated like traitor by Audi (UK). Unfortunately, I had plenty of dealings with them as the car filled up with water inside every time it rained. This in turn found its way into the electrics and all sorts of problems ensued. It took nearly two years to get fixed and in the end I had to drive it back to where I bought it....in Germany. Thanks again Audi UK.
I have just taken delivery of a UK spec'd and delivered A6 Avant 1.8T SE that has an unusual extra. 7 seats. I also own an Espace, but I needed something a bit nippier to transport the kids around. No luggage space with the kiddies seats in the boot, but I'm used to that. You can take the last...

Better than Passat 4Motion Estate
Review of Audi A6 Avant 1.8 T by
jimmythehat
Advantages: Value, quality, a practical package with a nice hint of sportiness
Disadvantages: No CD as standard.
...Audi A6 1.8 T Quattro
I have been fairly loyal to VAG over the years, so when my previous (company provided) Saab 900 came to the end of its lease I decided to have a look at either the VW Passat or Audi A6 Avant.
I was looking for something "interesting" and yet practical. I have a young family (two under-fives) plus a dog. I thought - hmm, a sporty estate might do the trick.
So we had a test drive in a Passat 2.8 V6 4motion Estate. Now, I used to have a VW Corrado VR6. An absolutely fantastic motor - v fast, great fun and fairly practical. This was sold when the Saab 900 arrived. The Saab was ok; a bit boring and sluggish (but nicely designed). I had hoped that the Passat 4motion would re-instate a sense of fun, with enough space for the family. Also, being the top of the Passat range, I expected a certain level...

A treat for the eyes, a great feeling...
Review of Audi A6 Avant 1.9 TDI by
raphaelploix
Advantages: The best looking estate car on the market
Disadvantages: hard suspension
...I am on my second A6 Avant 1.9 TDI SE... The first one did 135,000 miles without much of a fuss. It was an '99 one, so only 110 BHP, i.e. not particularly quick but you just forget that when you look at it from the outside or sit inside (and it was returning 53 MPG).
The Audi aluminium paint completely stands out from other silver cars, and the shape of the A6 Avant is in my view the absolute pinnacle of all estates.
Inside the trim was 'royal blue', with velvet seats, blue dashboard, champagne aluminium inserts etc. It just feels special. And the always-illuminated red backlit dials are just beautiful and relaxing, don't know why they abandonned that on the new ones.
Now I have a '03 one in crystal blue, with a blue interior (i.e. dashboard and seats), new 130 BHP engine (5 speed gearbox), and it is a very different car. It has...

AWESOME AUDI A6
Review of Audi A6 2.5 TDI SE by
stelladrinker
Advantages: excellent build quality, German Precision engineering, great looks, Brilliant
Disadvantages: parking spots at Supermarket car parks
..., but no matter how much silver trim and alloy wheels they had they still looked as dull as dishwater. They were both over budget at £8000. I went home with my head spinning.
I spoke to my girlfriend about it and she basically pulled the strangest face when I mentioned the word PASSAT. She basically said that yes it was a bland and dull car and there were too many on the road already and they were as dull as John Major on a cloudy day in greysville!!!!
That decided it, I wasn't going to have a Passat and back to another showroom I went. As I was looking around the selection of bland boring cars I noticed a big 'mean' looking Audi in the Prestige section of this showroom sitting there looking menacing and awsome. It was a Audi A6, 2.5litre V6 Turbo Diesel, 155BHP for the nerdy car people amongst you. In plain english its a big executive motorway...

Audi A6, Ride of your life
Review of Audi A6 2.0TDI SE by
THE_ELITE13
Advantages: comfortable, Spacious, Smooth, powerful and economical car
Disadvantages: None found
...۞ Audi A6 2.0 TDI SE ۞
**************************
The Car itself.
****************
We have had this superb car for just over a year and done 26,000 enjoyable and trouble free miles with only one service. The car even tells you itself when it needs servicing.
We had an Audi a few years ago and, although it was a good reliable car, we thought it was a bit overpriced and not really worth the "Vorsprung Durch Technic". This one replaced our well-loved Volvo S80 and it has more than filled the gap.
So what are the plus points?
******************************
It's fast, quiet for a diesel, responsive, comfortable, economical, reliable and safe. Maybe not one of the greatest lookers in the word but it can hold its own very well amongst larger saloon cars and can certainly give...

The Swish Audi A6
Review of Audi A6 2.0TDI SE by
tom.c.edwards
Advantages: Smooth, Spacious, Comfortable, powerful
Disadvantages: Careful doing short journeys!
...I've had this car for about 6 months and about a week ago I would have said that this car is fabulous but I think my views are changing.
I had an Audi about 5 years ago and it was a good reliable car. I then went and bought a Rover which was a big mistake, but about six months ago I bought this car and it was and still is the best car I've ever driven.
Advantages...
It's fast and very quiet for a diesel (exept from those cold mornings where it can sound a little like a tractor, but it soon transformes into a swift sports car.Its very comfortable, and rather high tech. It has an on-board computer which tells you the car's speed, current economy, how many more miles morth of diesel you have left. (The list goes on...) It is very stirdy and it feels very safe. Personally, I think that its very good value for money and is just...

Is there still an avant-garde?
Review of Essays by
burnt_out
Advantages: .
Disadvantages: .
...Is there still an avant-garde?
A burning question which many people want to try and figure out an answer to is whether or not there is still an avant-garde that still exists today. There are numerous arguments in which attempt to clarify whether or not this is apparent in today's art or not.
Avant-garde in French means advanced guard, front guard or vanguard. Many people often use the term to refer to either works or people that are navel or experimental, particularly in reference to art, culture, aswell as politics. A huge part of avant-garde is that of the Russian avant-garde which took place in the early part of the 20th century.
The purpose of avant-garde is to push the boundaries of what is to be expected as the norm within definitions of art, culture and reality. An avant-garde mentality believes things arise from only...

Sony Viao Under A Different Name
Review of ASUS A6F AP007H - Core Duo T2300 1.66 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
bazzaoleary77
Advantages: Great Price Great Specs Great Value
Disadvantages: None at all
...6 Months ago my good old Acer laptop decided to give up the ghost so I was in the market for a new laptop and after having a rather nice tax rebate I decided to treat myself to something a little bit special. After hours of trawling the net for great deals from Sony to Panasonic laptops and various different companies offering me various different offers I came across the Asus A6F.
Having not heard of Asus before I decided to research the company as the deal looked to good to be true and after searching I discovered that Asus were mainly a company that supplied parts for Sony Viao laptops and many other great brands. But they had started to supply their own laptops using the same parts. This resulted in the Asus A6F that I was considering.
For only £565.00 and free next day delivery the deal was fantastic so I got my order...
