Universal equals Brilliant
Review of Universal Studios by
christopherj84
Advantages: insert opinion here
Disadvantages: food/gifts dearer than outside
...show where three hillbillies try to hijack a professional stunt show. Fun is guaranteed, laughter is commonplace and amazement is around every corner. As you can probably tell, I love this show and everything to do with it; clean harmless fun, unless you happen to fall down a well full of TNT.
Terminator 2: 3-D Battle Across Time
Skynet is on a roll dominating the technology market. However, two teenagers appear from the future and tell us it will destroy all mankind if we don’t stop it so we sit down and watch them with Arnie take on the Terminators. Isle go adventuring here!
Review of Universal Studios Islands Of Adventure by
xalala
Advantages: Fast rollercoasters, less crowded than Disney
Disadvantages: Parking is miles away from the entrance (but see below)
...Islands of Adventure was the first theme park that my husband and I visited on our recent trip to Florida. It's meant to be Universal's answer to Disney's Magic Kingdom, or so the guidebooks would have you believe. I thought, however, that it was actually better than Magic Kingdom for a variety of reasons, not least that it lacked the sickeningly sweet Disney "peace, love and happiness" message.

Arrival and Parking

Universal is further north on the I4 than the Disney parks, so for us it was a longer drive. If you stay anywhere near central or north Orlando, however, it will be closer. We were caught out on our visit, as you come off the I4 (the exit is well signed for Universal) and immediately have to turn left. We missed the turn (d'oh!). Fortunately, the planners had thought about numpty...

Pointing and Clicking in a Parallel Universe
Review of Universe (PC) by
Davius
Advantages: Excellently detailed Sci-Fi point and click adventure
Disadvantages: The Amiga version had a few bugs, which may appear for the PC
...Universe was created by Core Design Limited, the company responsible for such video game classics like Bubba 'n' Stix, Heimdall, Skeleton Krew and the Tomb Raider series. When it was first released on the Amiga in 1994, it was hailed as being yet another exceptional point-and-click adventure game.
The adventure starts when Boris Verne, a relatively ordinary person, is sitting at his 35-bit Excellence Engine home computer only to be told by his mother to go and call on his uncle, Professor George Verne. After going to his uncle's house, Boris begins to wander around the house and finds a strange configuration of equipment linked up to a capsule, which he promptly sits in and activates. From there, he is whisked off through the boundaries of space and time to a parallel universe - known as the universe of 'Paralela'.
Once there...

Universally Enjoyable Day Out
Review of Universal Studios (California) by
flashpointz
Advantages: Something for Everyone
Disadvantages: Too much to cover in one day
...My wife and I are not fans of Theme Parks. I say that at the outset. Since our sons have become to old to go out on trips with Mum and Dad, we choose where we go to please ourselves rather than 'the famliy'. But visiting Universal Studios was a definate highlight of our first visit to Los Angeles.
Arriving on a sunny November day, paid the $35 each entrance fee (is it that much to visit Theme Parks these days?)- and went through the gates.
Instantly as we entered, our pictures were taken by a Universal employee who gave us a number to pick up our picture later. Lots of Universal employees were around dressed as famous stars- ever willing to pose for pictures.
The rides included Back To The Future (a simulated adventure), E.T. (fun for young and old-too long of line for the entertainment value), Backdraft (more of an experience than...

islands of adventure orlando
Review of Universal Studios Islands Of Adventure by
juliethompson114
Advantages: every ride is good
Disadvantages: closes at 10pm
...if you are going to orlando and you have been to disney, epcot and mgm before try the islands of adventure which is situated with universal studios,(although it is a seperate entrance charge.
It is wonderful for all ages, the rides there are really quite wild.
It does get busy but they do offer a fast trak system that enables you to book a ride time and then go back. The incedible Hulk rollercoaster is excellent and so is the spiderman ride.
for children there is a lovely area with rides like cat in the hat which is based on dr zeuss books, and a lovely water play area.
The water ride in popeye land is very good, and you get absolutely soaking, but you soon dry off. It has been well thought out and is in very pretty surroundings.
I have been to florida for the last ten years and always go to disney, sea world, epcot etc, but i can...

Not Really An Island.....But Amazing
Review of Universal Studios Islands Of Adventure by
christopherj84
Advantages: everything really
Disadvantages: nope
...Universal Studios - Islands of Adventure (IOA)
First off, a few bits are copied from my Universal opinion such as location as they are basically the same.
Location
The Universal Studios, IOA I am going to talk about is in Orlando Florida. It is situated only a few miles away from International Drive.
From the main hotels on International Drive, take a left onto Universal Boulevard just after Wet 'n Wild. It is very well signposted; there have been large improvements in directions in the last few years, this has been one of many initiatives by local government.
The Park
Rides
The prime reason for visiting Universal Studios IOA is to ride the attractions so here's a list and short description (the list is of course from an external source).
When you first enter the park, you are greeted with the Port...

The Hulk...what more do I need to say
Review of Universal Studios Islands Of Adventure by
whydontudropdead
Advantages: original, clean, friendly ppl, good rides
Disadvantages: not enough rides, no short cuts when walking around
...Last year I went to Florida and did the whole disney and universal thing. Having been to all these parks before I was kinda bored with the usual rides so we decided to get a day pass to Universal Island of Adventure.
It was brilliant, being big kids we first all wanted to go to dr seuss land. The first thing we did there was get our pictures taking with the cat in the hat. Unlike in disney the character hung around long enough for everyone to get their picture taken.
We slowly worked our way around the park and then we got back to the begining and the hulk rollercoaster. It was excellent. Fast, frightening and full of stomach churning moves, I enjoyed every minute of it and when i came off i noticed several people had turned as green as the hulk himself :)
Next stop was then the spiderman ride. We were expecting a simulator like back...
