...AGADIR is one of the main tourist resorts in Morocco, if not the main one. Herds of tourists arrive every day from Europe on charter flights, and most of them do not venture any further than Agadir, spending their day on the beaches. I did not like Agadir myself, since I found it expensive, and lacking character in comparison to other cities in Morocco. We went to visit what is left of the old casbah, out of the town. The walk is worth itself, but, as I said earlier, Agadir should not be on top of your agenda when visiting Morocco, unless you have plenty of time to spend in this country, in which case a visit to Agadir may give you access to a more westernised version of Morocco... ...Morroco is great but never go to Agadir. Don't believe the holiday brochures which say what a wonderful beach resort it is. It is true it does have a beach, but the whole place has about as much Morrocan flavour as Skegnes. It does however, boast a sardine canning factory and lots of 'lovely' naff hotels that try desparately to sustain a 'good place to be' image but fail miserably. Everyone in our hotel (Hotel Kamal) couldn't wait to go home. Steer well clear - you will be bored - and not just of meatballs.... Read review

Advantages: Good value; lots to see;
Disadvantages: Constant hasle from local traders.

...We stayed at the Caribean Village, all inclusive in March for £615 each, Excellent hotel but the rooms were poor. Very good food and a wide choice. The best gin and tonic outside the UK. Entertainment excellent the activity staff were very active. No lack of sunbeds. Excursions. Car hire reasonable (almost new Clio for less that £30 per day) roads excellent but signposts poor. Once away from Agadir driving was easy especially in the mountains. Do not bother to go to Torandaunt. Overnight coach trip to Marakesh very good, the hotel and the included Moroccan theme night were both poor but the wine was very good so we drank a botle each. We were dissapointed not to see the Sahara but it was too far, maybe next time. Overall we left Morocco determined to come again and possibly tour the country.... Read review

Advantages: Something for everyone
Disadvantages: Getting used to their way of shopping

...I travelled to Agadir in June on 2000. I have to say that it will take a lot to beat! The beach was fantastic with clean sand and water and wonderful views. The people were very friendly and although they were keen to gain your custom they new when you were not interested and they then left you alone. This was a breath of fresh air, as you will know if you have ever been to a country where the shop keepers approach you to buy things rather wait for you to enter their shops. The locals are also very trusting with their products also. If you did not have enough money they would trust you to come back with their money. Not a custom that you would find in Great Britain that is for sure. There is loads to do and see, during the day and in the evenings. Advantages: Good climate, relatively cheap

...The resort that we stayed in, Carribean Village Agador, was second to none. As an all inclusive resort we had all meals and drinks built in to the cost of the holiday, and there was unobtrusive entertainment all day long. The resorts four pools were immaculately clean at all times, and we all felt we were well looked after. This was probably just as well, because Agadir itself left a lot to be desired. The only visit to the beach found us swamped with Moroccans offering everything from drinking water to Henna tatoos. My friend and I spent the vast majority of the time in the hotel complex, partly because of the friendly, but persistant pestering that we encountered the second we set foot out of the hotel. Before you know it you can be dragged into a shop and asked to bargin for something, regardless of the fact you may not want it. I... Read review

...I think Morocco is an acquired taste. I went to Agadir with my mum for a 2 week break (leaving from Glasgow) during the month of December. I chose to go then because I knew it would be a bit quieter. It was my second visit to Morocco, the first having been to the north in the early 80s with my identical twin sister. As my twin and I are both red heads that caused quite a stir among the locals who would constantly ask us if we'd dyed our hair with Henna (and why we were so white!!!). I had a bad experience on my first day down at the beach in Agadir with my mum when a really rude carpet seller just wouldn't take no for an answer. Luckilly for us a friendly local intervened. He was very decent and actually gave us lots of good advice about how to get to more remote, less touristy places. The town of Agadir is split into 2 areas... Read review

...My partner & I have recently arrived back from 1 week in Agadir. Admittedly we didn't take up any of the trips to Marakesh or anywhere else as being on a one week stay we were after rest and relaxation and spending days marching around towns was not on our agenda. However, we would love to return and would consider the trips as they all seem pretty well planned (the only hint we picked up about the trips, the 1 day trip to Marakesh is a very long day - leaving resort around 6amish and returning 1amish) For the week, we ate fantastically and particularly recommend Fouqets and Taco Loco in Agadir. Great menus, fantastic price and brilliant service. The Jazz Restaurant was also a favorite of ours for lunch. The majority of the beach side café's sport identical menu's, mainly consisting of various fish dishes, Moroccan dishes, salads... Read review
