...My partner and I booked a holiday to Paris in August, partly for the World Athletics Champs, and partly because being from the other side of the world, we'd never been there before, so it seemed like a good opportunity to go. I booked the flights directly on Virgin Travel (online travel agency). The return economy tickets from Heathrow to Charles de Gaulle cost £65 each, which was cheaper than the Eurostar, and other airlines. We booked these in late June or early July, I cannot remember which. Looking at Air France's website, they do have last minute specials if you are one of those people who decides to travel at the very last second. About the flight itself, it was fine (both ways). ...I absolutely HATE Air France. I recently took my partner on an extended weekend (5 days) for her Birthday to New York. My only mistake was booking with Air France. The hotel was great, weather, food everything but the travel. We had a 6 hour delay at Manchester which meant arriving late into Paris CDG. We had missed our connection and were told that we wouldnt be getting to New York today !!! Easily said, very hard to take. They suggested that if we did want to get to NYC today then they could fly us to Montreal CANADA !! We took this option because we really wanted to get to NYC and the accomodation was already paid for (5 Star Manhattan Hotel) We left Paris and arrived in Canada (but our luggage didnt) we ended up being delayed again and staying in Montreal overnight then onto NYC in the morning. ...Last Christmas, I flew with Air France, via Paris, to Madrid to visit some friends (I am Spanish, but resident in the UK). The flight from Heathrow was late and I missed my connection flight. I was given a seat in the last flight that evening, as the in-flight personnel had called to AF in Charles de Gaulle airport. However, when I was already in the plane to Madrid, a couple of minutes before taking off, another person showed up with a ticket assigning her the same seat number. The situation was ridiculous. There we were with an identical ticket. The pilot notified me I had to leave my seat. I asked him if my baggage will be unloaded but he diverted his answer and said to me I would have to refer to somebody else that would be waiting for me at the gate. ...Air France were my form of Transport to Cape Town via Paris Charles De Gaulle and Johnanesburg and I was travelling with an open mind that was until I got to Manchester and believe me first impressions count for a lot. Upon check-in at Manchester Airport I was greeted by a rather miserable Air France check-in agent who seemed extremely put out by the fact that she was having to check us in, as we did not have luggage labels on either cases we were advised to fill them in and place on our cases whilst getting checked in. At the time of check-in we requested two seats together close to an emergency exit (which we only received on one sector of the flight) however despite being checked in by a miserable employee of Air France I was determined to continue with an open mind. ...Air France is the biggest and best-known French airline in the world. Owning many different aircraft including the Concorde, they offer a multitude of destinations from their main Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG) base, as well as other airports in France. The British airports served by this airline are Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, London (City, Gatwick, Heathrow), Manchester, Newcastle and Southampton. My main experiences of Air France have been on the Paris-Montpellier Méditerranée route, flight AF7682, which I will look at in detail now. With three or sometimes four flights daily to the southern coastal city of Montpellier, once on board you are glad you are not on the TGV. ...I recently returned from Manila on a flight from Air France and it was a mostly pleasant experience. This has been my second time as in comparison with airlines they are the best overall service, not to mention the cheapest at most times of the year. *** CHECK-IN DESK *** I haven't got much to say about the Check-in facilities of Air France other than they were considerate enough to allow me to re-check in luggage at Charles De Gaulle, Paris airport hours before my next flight which they did at the business check-in, after I had pleaded with them to let me pass to the gates so I could meet up with someone. ...This is how started: my 2 daughters and i in our way to our dream Italian vacation. We were supposed to board from MIA at 5:45pm on sat 19th, 2004, well, we arrived at MIA airport with plenty of time to check in and security stuff we got to airport at 3pm, we were promtly advise by the nice smiling Air France counter clerk that this flight no longer active, they said they contact me to informed me about this changes!!! never received a call. The person dropping us off at airport was long gone, so we decided to stay at terminal until new departure time:11pm yikes! Now keep in mind i'm traveling with 16 & 13 yrs old girls. So fine 11 pm arrives and people started to form the indian line to board the plane, strike 2, the plane have some mechanical problem they need to fix it we don't know if we are able to leave that night. Disadvantages: Missed connections due to AF negligence, refusal to compensate despite massive impact on tours booked and financial losses, staff rudeness.

...hotels I have ever seen and next day we were refused a change of return date due to our etickets. Other passengers found the right words to persuade them: "Breach of Contract". We did not and therefore, despite the African tour operators willingness to let us take the 6 day tour a day late, they would not help us out even though the problem was entirely of their making. The cabin crew confirmed this at the time, that Air France had stuffed up. We were forced to ascend in five days, with disastrous effects regarding altitude sickness and i failed to get to Uhuru Peak. I cannot say that is due to AF, but the lack of acclimitisation time was a contributing factor. The staff supervisor in the office in CdG was the rudest, most miserable woman I have encountered and shouted at us. She then refused to see us again. She was sitting at her... Read review

...the opportunity to read English newspapers from both England and Hong Kong!. This has to be one of the best flights I have ever taken. The only downfall of the flight was that each plane with Air France had a huge photo of a footballer on the side of it wearing a French Footballer's shirt!. It was like an Easyjet plane with their phone number scraped all over the side of it but to tell the truth, whose going to notice the player on thei side once you get onto the plane!. I'd definitly go on Air France again!.... Read review

...back to the Motorail issue, in the end, the question is whether or not the extra cost of using it is worth it. Well, yes we think so. Even when you compare it to the cost of petrol and an overnight stay on the way down through France, Motorail is still an expensive option. However, you do get there refreshed and ready to begin your holiday, rather than frazzled and knackered after driving four or five hundred miles down through France. In keeping with my computer roots we booked all of our Hotels in advance using www.francehotelreservation.com. This is an absolutely brilliant service. You type in the name of the city or region where you want to stay and the system kicks up a list of Hotels. Then, for each hotel, it gives you a set of photographs (both inside and out) and lists all of the facilities, such as Sat TV, Air Con and so on... Read review
