SPR694A, Do they deserve their Alpine badge??
Review of Alpine SPR694A by  Mattayre1981

Advantages: These speakers will handle large amounts of power and are more than willing to do so for long periods of time. They have rather punchy bass so I find that they work very well along side a sub and they have great midrange sound.
Disadvantages: Quite weighty so if you're planning on installing them into a standard parcel shelf be prepared to stregthen it, better still would be to replace the shelf with a wooden one.

...I reluctently purchased these 6x9's about 6 months ago after becoming sympathetic with passangers in the rear of my car only being able to hear the constant drowning of sub bass. Having not run any speakers in the rear for quite some time because I rather spend money on SQ upfront (the place your ears point to) and on sub bass, I was very dubious as to how this would affect the overall sound of the system. I already had the Alpine SPR176A components up front and was more than happy with them so I thought that I'd give their 6x9 cousins a try. When they arrived I was impressed by the build quality of the basket and cone, they come with the same silk dome tweater as the Alpine compnents so I pretty much knew what to expect. I hooked them up to my Alpine 4ch amp and fired them up!! "oooh dear" they sounded dreadful, the bass... Read review

BRUIN ALPINE - great if your baby isn't nosey!
Review of Bruin Alpine Stroller by  Lovin_Angel

Advantages: Pockets in Hood, Suitable from birth, Easy to steer, Lightweight, Shopping basket
Disadvantages: Does not sit bolt upright.

...I bought this stroller from Babies R Us in December 2005. At the time I needed a lightweight stroller due to my 6 month old daughter having grown out of her travel system car seat and the Graco buggy being too heavy to drag in and out of the boot every day during the school run. Whilst in Babies R Us we saw the Bruin Alpine Stroller. Its style appealed to me and I was even more impressed when I saw the price. HOW MUCH? It was originally £69.99 but this particular day it had £10 off so was £59.99 and we also had a voucher for £5 off any stroller over £30 so the final price was £54.99. Bargain. CAN YOU BUY IT ONLINE? Yes you can buy it online from the Babies R Us website. If you go to babiesrus.co.uk go to travel, then find pushchairs and on page 2 you should find the Alpine. You can also order it via their catalogue through... Read review

Pump up the jam
Review of Alpine CDA-9851R by  skuzzle

Advantages: Best sound quality in its price range
Disadvantages: Ugly as sin

...The ultimate in ICE (in car entertainment). ALPINE! A big name for many years in the automotive industry delivering some of the best amplifiers, headunits and speakers available. The CDA range definately does not dissapoint. Featuring all of the classic alpine qualities including the old alpine look with the 4 buttons to the left of the round volume control (which now functions as a whole lot more). Its an absolutely ugly headunit as all alpines are, a pig to operate and I dont think there is anyone in the world that has mastered every option on an alpine unit since they first started producing them, but from the moment you first power it up you fall in love with the depth, warmth and clarity of the sound reproduction. My favourite trick is to leave the eq exactly as it comes from factory, but to increase the subwoofer output... Read review

I love my twin alpine.
Review of Mothercare Urban Detour Twin Alpine by  lingdar

Advantages: Easy to push and steer, appears comfortable.
Disadvantages: Heavy to lift when folded, shopping basket awkward to get to.

...I bought my Mothercare urban detour twin alpine three wheeler pushchair 2 1/2 years ago after having twins. I needed a pushchair that was suitable for 2 newborns, easy to push and strong enough to last until my children were walking. We had looked at many before deciding on this one. The twin alpine is suitable from birth, has a lockable front swivel wheel, quick release rear tyres, pneumatic tyres with a pump, and comes with removable cosytoes, a raincover and a shopping basket. It is from Mothercare and is priced at £230. There has been has change in the fold mechanism since I bought mine. It is now one-handed but i can't comment on how easy that is. My pushchair has had heavy use, it is a dream to push, the children appear to be very comfortable in it and it is easy to fold and open. Disadvantages that I have found... Read review

Amplified Heart - Everything But The Girl
Review of Amplified Heart - Everything But The Girl by  micksheff

Advantages: Some Good Songs, Good Lyrics
Disadvantages: Quite Mournful In Places, Some Songs Rather Short

...In 1994 Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, collectively known as Everything But The Girl, released their seventh studio Album entitled Amplified Heart. There had been two other Albums released between this and its predecessor Worldwide, but these were essentially compilation Albums. One called Acoustic, released in the United States only and featuring as you may guess from the title, Acoustic versions of some of their previously released songs. The other a proper compilation of their Greatest Hits called Home Movies. Amplified Heart contains 10 tracks as below: Rollercoaster Troubled Mind I Don't Understand Anything Walking To You Get Me Missing Two Star Walk The Same Line 25th December Disenchanted The Album opens with Rollercoaster, the first single to taken from the Album. This is an upbeat track. Tracey's voice is smooth... Read review

Amplify your Heart
Review of Amplified Heart - Everything But The Girl by  bigbtommy

Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: The Dance Track.

...I bought this album ages ago, and today walked over to the CD rack and noticed it peering down at me: "Everything But The Girl, Amplified Heart". They say good music lasts forever, so why should a good album like this die, even if it was released in 1994. OK, first off. What is it? Is it pop? Rock? Dance? Well it's pretty slow, miserable music. But in a slow "he's left me" sort of way. It's probably pop if you were to caregorise. But I hate categorising. It's not the cheesy sort of Britney Aguilera does Madonna's greatest hits, but what music should be: from the heart, soulful and good. You may have heard of them, you may not have. But they have made albums all the way from 1984's 'Eden' up to 2000's 'Temperamental'. The biggest hit of the album is the 11th track, Missing (Todd Terry Club Mix). That was back then when house music... Read review

Really is alive and amplified!
Review of Alive And Amplified - Mooney Suzuki (The) by  priesty8899

...The band: Sammy James Junior - lead vocals, rhythm guitar + percussion Graham Tyler - Lead guitar, vocals, percussion Augie Wilson - Drums, vocals, percussion Michael Miles - Bass guitar, percussion, vocals. Can you hear them ???
Review of Alpine CDM7858 by  mr_brown_eye

Advantages: stylish, alpine quality, amazing sound, clear display
Disadvantages: cd text doesn't allow you to see the whole track title for more than 5 seconds.

...Aftre driving around for a year in a very basic car with a very basic stereo i figured that i deserved something new, so being a music lover it had to be the stereo. After a few weeks of perusing the local shops and the internet for hours at a time i decided to go for an alpine due to reputation and looks and also because i had heard a couple in stereo shops and the quality was very good. I carried on looking now having an idea of what i wanted and i came across this, the 7858RB brand new stock released that week and at £280 it seemed good value so i went to look at the spec... Built in amplifier 4 x 45 Watts, FM/AM Tuner, CD Playback, CD/R Playback, 1 Pre - Out, Detatchable Face, Blue Illumination, RDS, ISO Connector, CD Changer Controll, CD Text, Bass Engine, Versatile Link, Optional Remote. Fitting was very... Read review

Great Quality Speakers
Review of Alpine SPX 137 R by  Massey42

Advantages: Very clear highs and full midrange response
Disadvantages: Weak base

...to place them. Two more cables running to an amplifier (Alpine MRV-F345) in the boot and it was sorted. A card was included to help you set up the crossover to achieve the optimum sound from the speakers. This gave simple instructions on measurements to take, and then showed the corresponding jumper settings on the crossover. Once connected to the amplifier it was time to turn them on and i wasnt dissapointed. They obviously don't kick out lots of bass as they're only 13cm woofers but the quality was fantastic. All vocals were clear and full, and the midrange respones of the speakers were equally good. There was no distortion at higher volumes (within reason of course) and good cope with a wide range of music. All in all i was very pleased with these speakers, although expensive (rrp £250, i got them for £150) i feel they were worth every... Read review
