...Nightwish are from Finland, and formed in 1996, Angels Fall First was their first album. Members: Tarja Turunen - Vocals Tuomas Holopainen - Keyboards Jukka Nevaleinen - Drums Emmpu Vuroinen - Guitar Sami Vanska - Bass 1) Elvenpath Elvenpath is an excelent opening song to the album, it starts of with a small spoken passage from Tarja, and then the songs gets heavy with Emmpu's riffs, its a very fast and energetic song, and sounds kind of power metally, the song ends with a nice solo by Emmpu. 2) Beauty and The Beast In this song Tuomas decides to sing and the result is awful, i'm quite used to his vocals and don't mind them, but newcomers to the band will hate it along Tarja's skilled operatic vocals. Advantages: A rich case study of post-Victorian London.

...'Falling Angels' is historically positioned just after the death of Queen Victoria at the turn of the century. Two families, the Waterhouse's and the Coleman's, meet at their local cemetry whilst adhering to the mourning etiquette of the Victorian period. The difference between the two families are immediately apparent: Kitty Coleman wears navy blue flagrantly rejecting the traditional black for her mourning outfit, which the Waterhouse falmily are outraged by. Against the wishes of both sets of parents, the Waterhouse and Coleman daughters become best friends, befriending along the way, also, the grave-digger's son. The novel tracks therefore, via the use of alternating character voices, the changing views and social codes occuring as both families move on into the new century. Advantages: A brilliant trip to the falls themselves and an amazing sight there
Disadvantages: mosquitos

...The trip to and from the falls as well as the falls themselves is absolutely amazing. The journey begins on a boat road up the river from Canaima which although rather uncomfortable is breath-taking. The rivers are huge and the scenery amazing. After a four hour boat journey you arrive at a 'campsite'. Here hammocks are the choice of sleeping arrangement and there is a small permanent base. A good mosquito net is essential as well as comfortable clothes. After a good night's sleep here the next day involves an hour long trek to the Falls themselves. The trek isn't too strenuous although i would recommend one to bring good walking boots. It isn't actually possible to get to the base of the Falls without going some way off the beaten track, but the sight from the peaked viewing point is amazing to say the least. ...To the Mountain of the God of Evil. I have already written a review of Venezuela in general, but Angel Falls didn’t deserve to be squished into a couple of paragraphs of a larger review. It’s a sight on a grand scale, and deserves an opinion of its very own. If you’re interested in facts, Angel Falls is the highest waterfall (longest uninterrupted drop) in the world. While its flow is a fraction of the water that tumbles over Niagara, it falls 16 times as far – that’s nearly a kilometre, straight down. It falls, a tributary of the Rio Carrao, from the top of Auyantepui – The Mountain of the God of Evil – a name the local Pemón tribe bestowed upon it. Advantages: Some old favourites, brilliant first album

......"But I'm still here". OK, not technically the same album (line is from End of All Hope, from Century Child), but a good link, I feel. :) Nightwish are a Finnish metal band. Their debut album, "Angels Fall First" was first released in 1996, but the digipak was released in 2002, along with all previous albums to Century Child. As far as debut albums go, this is pretty good, I think. It feels like the opening act to something great - you get a teaser of what they can do, but their talent and ability is still very raw and untapped. There are a few songs on "Angels..." that are still firm favourites with the band's fans - such as "Beauty and the Beast", which is performed on the album by [former] singer Tarja Turunen and Tuomas (keyboards).
