Oasis luggage by Antler
Review of Oasis Vanity Bag by Antler by
e_l_parker
Advantages: Stylish, good range of features
Disadvantages: No 'piggy-back' connection
...I recently purchased a vanity bag from Oasis (fashion shop) and have found it really strong, stylish and useful, with excellent organiser capabilities.
The bag is part of the Oasis luggage collection designed by Antler. At £30 the bag seems about average price, but was definitely the most stylish and had the most features. It fits in with the ethos of Oasis as being individual and fashionable. It is black and curved at the front, and is soft-sided but with a reinforced front.
It is travel-bag sized, with two main sections. Each section includes organiser features, including:
* mobile phone pocket
* 3 bottle straps (for storing shampoo, etc)
* key holder
* A4 sized inside pocket
* pen holders
* other storage pockets
It also comes with a shoulder strap and a padlock.
For me the bag is excellent, as it forces me...

Lock it up
Review of Antler Identity Combination Lock by
danielalong
Advantages: Locks cases
Disadvantages: Not high security
...!
Available from any shops selling holiday gear, and also online at www.antler-luggage.com
~~What I think~~
My bag has once again done some travelling, and again has been returned to me unopened. The cynic in me says that it hasn’t been opened in all of these years, so once again, it’s because my bag looks as though it will have nothing of interest in it. However, I like to think that the fact that I have a small lock on the bag makes it a bit less likely to be opened.
The lock is certainly easy to use, and clips quickly and efficiently onto luggage. I had no trouble setting the combination lock, and actually remember the number. I don’t know what happens if I forget the number because there are no instructions for re setting the lock. However, I think it might work if it’s put back to zero on all three dials and then the process...

Watch the weight
Review of Travel - luggage by
DT5
Advantages: Keeps contents safe
Disadvantages: weighs that little bit extra
...weigh up what suits you.
In airpoorts today the majority of luggage is not man handled in any form with eletronically barcoded computer conveyor systems which will direct the luggage to the nearest offload site, with this in mind handling of baggage is far better than before.
Use a hardshell case if you are carrying glass bottles or items that may be crushed and damaged, including electical goods that may get bumped around.
U a soft shell case if you dont have anything that could get damaged, most bottles can be carried on board and airlines normally do not have any objection to items like this being carried on board.
The average soft shell case made by Antler etc weighs about 2.3 kg a big difference. Always bear in mind that airline charge you 1% of the first class airfare for excess baggage. for your info
Excess baggage rates...

pi-tag.com - Secure luggage, keys, mobile tagging.
Review of Travel - luggage by
Gichin
Advantages: Secure luggage tracking. Automated Service. Get messages worldwide.
Disadvantages: Must subscribe for 1 year at a time.
...Having decided to take a well earned break from the UK, I went looking for some new luggage tags. I found a number of sites on the internet but the best I found was a site called pi-tag.com. pi-tag.com was on BBC Radio 2's website of the day in March 2005 and it was through the Radio 2 website that I found it.
It costs just £9.99 to register for one year - and for that you get your choice of 2 tags. You can purchase additional tags online if you wish.
Once registered, an activation code is sent to your registered address to verify your contact details and a unique pi-tag number is assigned to you.
If someone finds your bag, they don't know your home address or telephone number but that are told on the tag to contact you at pi-tag.com - or by calling the international 0870 number. If you ring the telephone number...

Lost and Found
Review of Member Advice on Lost Luggage by
signals
Advantages: Keep expensive items and a few essentials in the carry-on!
Disadvantages: **It happens!
...I am again using my airport expertise to give advice that works! Observing people in airports is like nothing that can be described. They are either jetlagged, or ready to imbark on that trip that will end in a comatose state!
As a part-time job, I would deliver lost luggage to the owners from the airlines. I also knew the various workers at the airport. Ticket counter, mechanics, agents, pilots, attendants, luggage handlers, etc., from the airlines. Rental car personnel(I worked there, too), skycaps, security, etc., even cabs and other ground transportation.
Many people would rather check their luggage in at the counter, than give it to a skycap, because they don't want to tip. Your priority! In reality at the counter, you have a longer line, and since there are more flights being booked your luggage can easily be lost. Your...

A nightmare
Review of Member Advice on Lost Luggage by
WAD1-2-3
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...essential on a holiday. It was a nightmare for her, she had no clothes what so ever, except the ones she had on.
Although, her friends lent her some of their clothes, it was hardly thier same. She had to spend her money on essential clothing, but that in return limited her how much money she could spend out. It all turned out to be quite a stressful two weeks. Although, she has come back with a tan.
The airline were sympathetic but unfortunately there wasn't much they could do, although she is going to try and look into it now she's back in Britain.
So, all you holiday makers out there, be careful with your luggage, if it's lost it could end up spoiling your holiday, as it did my friends.
Be careful and try to get out quickly from your seats to the luggage area so you can get your luggage first time round. But, I am sure...

Dont Forget your Sleeping Partner
Review of Travel - luggage by
KathrynE
Advantages: see op
Disadvantages: see op
...Luggage is a great category for me, I've never got the hang of traveling light. For me luggage consists of two very large hard plastic suitcases full of my stuff plus a swimming cossie and spare pair of undies for hubby! Here's my indispensable list of holiday items, without which I could not survive a week. Yes you do have to worry about excess baggage, always weigh your suitcases before you leave home, then take out all the clothes and weight them again.
~~~ My Pillow ~~~
A number of years ago I read somewhere that you will always get a good nights sleep, whatever bed you are in, so long as you have your own pillow. You may mock but it's damned good advice which I've followed ever since and I always sleep well. Another advantage of taking a pillow is that it’s a nice big padded thing to wrap breakables in when you...
No Undewear No Condoms No Essentials
Review of Member Advice on Lost Luggage by
Dalesman
Advantages: You could avoid losing your luggage if you follow my tips
Disadvantages: you stand to lose more than a case
...Go on, it that time of the year isn't it..worked your little socks off, booked the holiday, you got yourself and your family to the Airport safely and on time, cars parked safetly, all your luggage has been tagged and you've checked in at the Airline Check in desk, everything all safe and sound.....
Everyone's happy then, just the flight to get over and find the transfer buses at the other end or the car hire desk, get to the hotel, check in and the stress of travelling is over...........WRONG !!!!!..
When you get to to the other end of your journey you eagerly anticipate the arrival of your luggage on the carousel, you've sent the family to stand guard at various strategic points around the Carousel to grab your cases as they come into the baggage hall, everyone who comes along after you seems to be getting their cases first, you...
Blood On The Tracks
Review of The Lost Luggage Porter: A Jim Stringer mystery - Andrew Martin by
Mauri
Advantages: Illuminating and evocative
Disadvantages: plot
...I seem to be reading a lot of historical crime novels recently and it is a genre that is appealing as it recreates the feel and atmosphere of the classic novels while injecting an element of contemporary interpretation to the characters and story...or at the least the better ones do.
'The Lost Luggage Porter' the third novel in the Jim Stringer detective series (following on from 'The Necropolis Railway' and the 'The Blackpool Highflyer') probably doesn't totally achieve these lofty goals but is nonetheless a good read. It harks back to the 'golden years' of the detective novel; think of fog filled Victorian alleyways frequented by Holmes and Watson or the more quirky plot led Poirot novels, but it is different in that it is set in the Edwardian period just after Queen Victoria's death a time which is largely ignored by today...
Operatic Farce
Review of Love's Luggage Lost - Gioacchino Antonio Rossini by
MAFARRIMOND
Advantages: Comic opera at it's best
Disadvantages: Can be difficult to follow
...Love’s Luggage Lost, L’Occasione fa il ladro, is an opera rarely performed today. I for one had never heard of it and was looking forward to the recent Opera North’s revival of it as one of their recent productions in their Eight Little Opera Greats at the Lyric Theatre in the Lowry Centre, Manchester. The opera was composed by Gioachino Rossini in 1812 and the libretto, written in Italian, by Luigi Privdali. Entitled L’Occasione fa il ladro, it translates literally as Opportunity Makes the Thief. An Opera Farsa, the story whilst hilarious contains all the traditional elements of arias, duets and ensembles. The performance I went to was superb sung in English with a contemporary setting and with clever little tweaks to the libretto to bring it up to date. This performance was set in an aeroplane one of ‘Queasy Jets’ and an airport...
