Arctic Roll, devil-spawn
Review of Arctic Roll by
robofish
Advantages: Makes you feel good about yourself
Disadvantages: Makes you feel sick
...Arctic roll is a creation that should never have happened! Surely it came from the twisted mind of an off-duty geneticist, tired of grafting human ears to the back of mice!
For anyone unsure of what Arctic Roll actually is, I shall elaborate: Imagine a small "log" of ice cream enshrouded in sponge cake, separated by the merest layer of strawberry jam. Now I know what you're thinking "I really like ice cream/sponge cake/strawberry jam, What could be the problem with that?" and I agree, ice cream/sponge cake/strawberry jam are all excellent foods ON THEIR OWN!!!!
The main problem comes the fact that due to the nature of it's main ingredient, ice cream, it needs to be kept and served frozen and who likes frozen sponge? Also ice cream has a very smooth texture, sponge cake blatantly doesn't, making them sit very strangely on the palatte...

Puts the "ick" in Arctic.
Review of Arctic Roll by
alari
Advantages: er - cheap?
Disadvantages: pretty much everything else
...Arctic roll - does this exist outside of schools? I should hope not. Mass-produced flavourless vanilla ice-cream with your choice of stale spongy coating to fit - complete with the vaguely bitter substance to be found in-between.
Packaging? I've never seen them packaged, just standing lonely in the middle of plates. They look as bad as they prove to be - and there'ssomething about this ice-cream - either it's rock-solid, but rubbery or liquidy slush, none of that delightful 'just right' state of delicate softness that's found with other ice creams.
You can tell which it's going to be as soon as you probe it with the spoon. I can't decide which is the lesser of the two evils - it's up to you. But why bother? you know even before it reaches your mouth what the taste's going to be; a mixture of mouth-burning tasteless coldness...

I've come to realise, Ice as sure made me Nice
Review of Gillette Arctic Ice Body Spray by
3min_man
Advantages: You buying this will be your main advantage
Disadvantages: It will send you away from Lynx
...Gillette have always gone by the common saying “Gillette, the Best a Man can get!”. I’m still awaiting for my own common phrase to become a popular phrase, “ Gavin, the Best a Woman Will Get!” but then surely I will actually have trading standards on my case for false advertising!
I have never myself used any form of Gillette product ever in my life because when I find something I like I stick to it and seem afraid to evolve and move on with the times.
This Gillette daily spray was actually reccommended to me by a mate and me own nose. My mate Adam has a severe handicap for buying upto 3 sprays a week and as we do me and my boys were in town and we soon found Adam hunting down a spray faster than a sweaty Mo Molem raining from under her arms with big bulging eyes ready to boil over.
He came across this Artic Ice...

Ice and a Slice
Review of Absolut Ice Bar, Copenhagen by
brereton66
Advantages: Fun and different
Disadvantages: Expensive and no beer
...Copenhagen Absolut Ice Bar
On a recent trip to Copenhagen we were looking for somewhere a little different to spend an evening. Skipping through the various online guides we came across the Absolut Ice Bar, part of the Absolut Ice chain. It sounded like a fun and different place to go so we booked and looked forward to a unique experience.
Absolut Ice ~
The Absolut Ice experience started with the Ice Hotel, built in Jukkasjärvi in Northern Sweden back in 1994. This small town of just 500 inhabitants lies some 200 kilometres from the Arctic Circle and doesn't even see the sun during the winter. It would be fair to call it remote.
As the name suggests this is a hotel built entirely of ice; beds, furniture, walls - you name it, all made of ice. Despite some scepticism on its opening the allure of staying somewhere akin to a Bond...

I scream for ice cream!
Review of Asda Vanilla Ice Cream Rolls by
SweetTooth93
Advantages: Tasty, fairly cheap, not to high in calories/fat
Disadvantages: Not very healthy
...to the cereal aisle, I dissapered off to the freezers to see if I could find anything to curb that very annoying sweet tooth of mine!
I rummaged through all the freezers, and eventually decided on a toffee deluxe ice cream tub, and just as I was about to leave the freezers to find my mum, something else caught my eye!
**
A mainly light blue carboard box, with a scrumptious looking picture on the front! The picture was of two rounded scoops of ice cream, surrounded in a golden looking sponge, with a red jam-like layer in between the sponge and the ice cream! I remembered having these when I was little with my brothers and the memories of childhood swamped me, tempting me to grab a box!
When I was a little, I am positive we used to call these "Arctic Rolls", however these were simply called "ice cream rolls". They were Asda's own brand...

HARDCORE spray lasts ALL NIGHT
Review of Gillette Arctic Ice Body Spray by
RussellC
Advantages: Stops you smelling, cheap for what you get
Disadvantages: Too strong for children
...What's the difference between a deodorant and a body spray? Yes, a question many philosophers have asked down the centuries.
The answer is that a body spray makes you smell nice, and a deodorant stops you from smelling of your own sweat. So what on earth is a deodorant body spray? Surely not some mucky hybrid of these two popular products, mixed together in a bizzare genetic experiment?!
Well actually they are. Except without the genetic experiment bizzarity. This Gillette Arctic Ice Body Spray is one such hybrid. Combining both deodorant and body spray, it is designed to both protect and refresh.
But what is so special about it? Well, it seems to work better than most other similar products. Right Guard deodorants for example are really dry, and seem to just block up your pores. This Gillette spray not only stops you from...

Gilette are lifesavers
Review of Gillette Arctic Ice Body Spray by
milwayj
Advantages: Industrial strength, lasts forever
Disadvantages: slightly dodgy smell
...This product, like a great deal of the products Gillette produce, become essentials to everyday life and make you wonder why you ever bothered buying other brands.
For around £2.99 you get 150ml of this body spray and believe me you only need the one spray for this to do the business, it does not smell as good as the deoderant in the arctic ice series (it tastes even worse!) as it has more of a musty element to it. I have to also say that the atlantic ice series itself is not as good as cool wave. This product is strong and I am sure it has given me headaches on occasions due to its strength when used in excess.
However there is a huge upside, mine lasted around 6 months I must admit! whenever I needed to smell good and fast it worked, and it really does keep you smelling good all night. It also is a good substitute for the great...

Can You Feel The Burn?
Review of Gillette Arctic Ice Aftershave Gel by
Calldean
Advantages: Hmmmmm.... none
Disadvantages: Stings, smells funny
...out it sort of squidges…. it doesn’t make the most pleasant of sounds and it doesn’t look the nicest either.
The colour is a light blue/off-white, which reminds me somewhat of toothpaste for some reason.
The smell is very strong. Gillette call it Arctic Ice, but it just smells very chemically to me. Not pleasant at all and leaves me wondering if I should be putting it on my face. Especially as it’s still red-raw from shaving.
The texture is at first quite firm, until you rub it into your fingers a little when it turns more like a gel/oily liquid. Again, I find it’s not very nice.
Right; slap a bit on and what happens? It hurts. It stings and it feels a bit like it’s burning. It leaves quite an oily, slick feeling on your skin and doesn’t take any of the heat out of it.
When I first tried it I was thinking about trying to wash...

Justifiying The Hype, Arctic Monkeys style.
Review of Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not - Arctic Monkeys by
Vheissu
Advantages: staggering early sales, quality of the band at such an age...
Disadvantages: ...in over their heads maybe?
...Four Sheffield lads with guitars eh…. Who'd have thought it.
The Arctic Monkeys tale is an intriguing one indeed. Having shifted over 100,000 copies of their debut album "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" on it's first day of sale alone, the album went on to sell a further 250,000 copies in the following 6 days - making it the quickest selling debut rock release in British recording history, eclipsing all the greats of the past in the process. It's a remarkable achievement for a band that were only getting their name out-and-about a mere 3 months ago, but thanks to much bigging up on the part of the NME (and other publications besides), Sheffield's newest rock quartet are set to become the band to be in 2006 - Stateside included.
The bands tale is one of internet sites and demo releases; having passed about short demo...

Sheffield Steelers On An Arctic Roll
Review of Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not - Arctic Monkeys by
mark_allen71
Advantages: Everyday tales of pub/club/cub culture we can all relate to.
Disadvantages: We had heard most of the tracks already on the net!
...Anthemic indie tricksters The Arctic Monkeys, a cheeky bunch of Yorkshire lads, seem to 'ape' Mike Skinner as much as they do Hard-Fi, with their brand of Sheffield steel.
How ironic for a city forged in a furnace of industrial heritage that the Arctics, who claim to be technophobes, owe so much to the 'burning' of files on the internet.
If Pete Doherty is the Byron of the music industry, this band is part Alan Bennett, kitchen sink drama and part Pam Ayres - telling it how it is with tongues still in their cheeks.
So was 'You Look Good on the Dance Floor' - an honest-engine bona-fida naughty Northern nattering - a fluke on an album solely based on a couple of singles, or, as many dewy-eyed critics suggest, are they are the new Streets/Smiths/Verve/Wedding Present?
Indeed whatever happened to Menswear - the last band...
