...Background ---------------- Ashdown Park Hotel is located in East Sussex, about 0.5 miles from Wych Cross in the heart of the English Countryside. Travelling from the North, it takes approx 45mins - 1hr to reach from the M23/Gatwick The hotel is owned by the 'Small Luxury Hotels of the World' (slh.com) Visit ------ My fiancee and I visited this hotel on a November weekend for 2 nights (sat & sun). Driving to the Hotel from London is extremely easy although the roads between the M23 and the Hotel can get congested. As you turn into the long driveway you reach two small car parks for the Hotel and the Hotel itself. The hotel is a spectacular mansion which has its own church. ...My sister is due to be married within 2 years and I am to be the bridesmaid so we found fit to start looking for wedding venues, seeing as many are being booked up years in advance. We had a short list initially of about 5 and I left it to my sister to whittle it down to about 3. Being the following: * Alexander House and Utopia Spa (Near Turners Hill area but within close proximity to Gatwick) * Ashdown Park Hotel and County Club (Near Forest Row near East Grinstead) * South Lodge Hotel and Camellia Restaurant (in Lower Beeding close to Horsham). All 3 venues were chosen due to my sister living in Northern Ireland, originally from Surrey where I live but wanting to be married within close proximity of her roots. ...a chance and take it in the Portsmouth first team. Rowan Vine appears to be achieving some good results in a loan spell at Luton, but whether he can maintain that kind of form in the Premiership is questionable. James Keene is our one shining light from the youth set up, although still young he appears to have a goal scoring temperament that if developed could frighten premiership defences in years to come, although this is unlikely for a while yet. Finally our reserve keepers Jamie Ashdown and Guatelli are showing promise, Ashdown is not all that young but he still has the makings of a good keeper that could play on for a good number of seasons. Whisky is running low until the discovery of a crashed ship carrying 600,000 bottles of the stuff. Needless to say much of it soon starts going astray. Immensely witty and entertaining. 8 The Business by Iain Banks “The origins of what we now call the Business predate the Christian Church, but not the Roman Empire which, at one point – technically, at any rate – we owned” Less disturbing in some ways than many of his previous works such as ‘The Wasp Factory’ but better for it and very well written. A strong storyline based around the concept of a ‘business’ trying to take over a small island nation and gain a seat at the United Nations. ...Several years ago I obtained a free accommodation Breakaway Package through renting a hire car for one month. I chose to stay for the two nights package at the Winston Manor Hotel, which is located at Beacon Road, Crowborough in East Sussex. The town,a small one,is very pleasant and is located in the heart of the delightful Ashdown Forest. The surrounding countryside is delightful and attractive towns such as Royal Tunbridge Wells and East Grinstead are both just a short drive away. Crowborough is,I should add,a rather small town and perhaps at first glance dosent seem to have a great deal to offer the short-stay visitor,However, first impressions can be misleading. There is a lot of greenery in and aroud the place,a number of interesting little shops,good pubs,coffee houses and cafes and some nice areas for leisurely walks. Just... Read review

...The traditionnal song of Brighton and Hove Albion F.C. and what better way to describe this glorious county. What is even better is that it is not too far from London yet it has none of the smug, dull Home Counties conformity that Surrey or Hertfordshire has. There is a definite distinct Southern English identity different from London and its environs.A warm May weekend spent in the Sussex countryside is a pleasure to wish for dearly in the middle of this cold, bleak January! The attractions are manifold, the rolling, softness of the Downs in summer (and their bleak beauty in Winter), the eclectic alternative nature of Brighton standing side by side with the faded gentility of Eastbourne and the charming old town of Hastings, the charming towns of Arundel, Steyning, Rye and Lewes and the delights of Ashdown Forest and the Weald.
