ASUS AM2 M2N32-SLI motherboard
Review of ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe/Wireless Edition AiLifestyle Series - motherboard - ATX - nForce 590 SLI by
cjlight
Advantages: Quality and fast overclocking, great for games
Disadvantages: In the shadow of the Core 2 duo motherboards
...When purchasing my new computer i needed a motherboard that could handle the latest technology and compete with the latest releases. The ASUS M2N32-SLI motherboard fitted within my budget of one hundred pounds and offered a powerful tool for over clocking my components to keep my machine competing with the stresses of new programs and hardware.
Fitting the motherboard and installing the other hardware was exactly the same as fitting other motherboards. The ASUS M2N32-SLI motherboard supports the AMD AM2 cpu and thus supports DDR2 ram, this meant that when recycling my old computer i was unable to use the cpu or the RAM and needed to purchase these items again.
The passive cooling on the ASUS M2N32-SLI means that no fans are needed to cool the motherboard making it quiet. The motherboard comes with a optional fan which snaps onto...

Very stable
Review of ASUS Intel 440BX Chipset P2B - motherboard - ATX - i440BX by
yhwman
Advantages: Stable, feature rich
Disadvantages: None
...The Asus P2B is a stable and feature rich motherboard. It replaced a TMC motherboard I had which had ‘issues’ with Nvidia graphics cards. Since the swap my computer has been more stable in general use, as well as when the graphics card is working hard. Asus support the board well, a recent BIOS update added APCI power saving support. You get onboard USB, two EIDE channels, floppy disk controller, two serial ports, one parallel port and two ps/2 ports and the option to connect an infra red port. Wow! There’s lots of setup options to keep the tweakers happy and even the option of an Asus network card, which adds wake on LAN capability. Asus even have free motherboard monitoring/trouble shooting software available for download! If your slot 1 computer crashes a lot, try changing motherboards – you could be pleasantly surprised....

Another top quality ASUS product
Review of ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe - motherboard - ATX - nForce4 SLI X16 by
Dave1508
Advantages: Phenomanal performance, quality, ease of install
Disadvantages: Expensive
...to set CPU, memory, graphics timings.
With the water cooler installed the board does get hot, as the heatpipes rely on the CPU cooler to dissapate the heat. There is however a clip on fan for the top most heat sink which does get rid of the heat. (A side case fan also does the job).
As with all the ASUS SLI boards the 16x slots are well spaced so boards with non reference coolers can be fitted(Gigabyte and Abit boards tend to be a lot closer and therfore a lot hotter).
A good range of utilities and backup software is included on the disc, with the AI booster you can overclock in windows.
This is an expensive board but is at the top of the AMD 939 socket motherboards, and with the advent of the AM2 board being pretty much the same as this, it shows they got it right with this one!!...

Excellent Motherboard, but expensive
Review of ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP AiLifestyle Series - motherboard - ATX - iP965 by
webspot
Advantages: Silent heatpipe, PCI express, Supports Core2Duo
Disadvantages: Price
...Excellent motherboard. This is the first motherboard that I have installed in a computer before, and did ASUS make it easy for me!
The manual is very clear, and tells you where everything is. All the connectors matched up with my Akasa Zen Case connectors, which I thought was great, as since then I didn't have the same experience with a Thermaltake case.
The silent heatpipe, makes this a very quiet motherboard, whereas most normal motherboards would have a rubbish little fan that gets clogged with dust and ends up making a terrible noise. If you need to have a fan on the chipset heatsink, asus provide a fan that slots on to the top of the heatsink.
Aswell as the chipset fan, ASUS provide loads of other stuff. This includes USB expansion, firewire expansion, SATA cables, and more! Great if you need any of this stuff.
Overall I think...

Building an Athlon System
Review of AMD K7 (Athlon) by
Vistaway
Advantages: Cheaper and faster than Intel
Disadvantages: Fewer and more expensive motherboards
...After suffering with a P200 for too long, I decided to build a new system - and my sights fell towards AMD. The Athlon is a great chip, which offers the desirable combination of performance and price. The chips are significantly cheaper than similar Intel ones, but Slot A motherboards do run more expensive. Even so, the combination of an Athlon 700 and Asus K7V (£230)was much cheaper than the same Intel combo would have been. Installation was simple, with Asus providing a great manual. There was a problem with the motherboard initially (wouldn't POST), but a second one worked perfectly. My system has been running dead stable, cool, and fast! Even with a less-than-ideal AGP 2x graphics card, the performance in games and graphics apps is fantastic. I am completely satisfied with the AMD processor, and am currently shopping...

ASUS M2N-E MY CHOICE MOTHERBOARD, GREAT VALUE.
Review of ASUS M2N-E SLI - motherboard - ATX - nForce 500 SLI by
Hi-Spec-Tek
Advantages: EVERY ADVANTAGE FOR COPING WITH THE VISTA DRAG!!
Disadvantages: I COULD FIND NONE
...Hi, The model here, the ASUS M2N-E has proved itself over the last year. I built several systems using this motherboard and so far it has been well up to ASUS' usual standard and for me it is the natural successor to my previous one (A8N-E). My comments are that on getting my first motherboard box with its numerous bits and pieces, was that you simply had your moneys worth. Ample leads and more. A sinch to assemble and it worked immediately I switched on, and like giving birth (I imagine), it was a relief when it did fire up and the labour was over LOL!
There is a great deal of satisfaction from building a PC yourself. The moment you press that button the first time holding your breath or in some peoples cases - looking the other way!! Then the ghasp when the boot-up occurs and everything is "swingin". Yes I have been there more times...

A good mid-range motherboard for P4 CPUs
Review of ASUS P4S800 - motherboard - ATX - SiS648FX by
Vicster1784
Advantages: Inexpenisve, good performance, lots of ports and slots
Disadvantages: Ports a bit cluttered, no WiFi
...case, but the layout of the ports on the back, such as USB and Audio/Mic jacks is not the best. It’s very cluttered and often is a challenge to get to. My previous motherboard (also from Asus) had a similar issue and I had to make quite an effort to plug/unplug anything from the back. Other than that it’s done pretty well and everything on the actual board is color coded so that you can plug everything in quite easily, should you be upgrading or building your machine from scratch.
The slots on the motherboard are:
• Socket 478 (for Pentium 4 CPUs)
• 4 DDR SDRAM DIMM slots
• AGP 8x
• 5 PCI
• WiFi slot (not actually useful unless you buy the WiFi card from Asus for a lot of money)
• ATX power
• FDD
• 2 IDE
• 2 SerialATA
• 2 USB 2.0 (for external wiring)
• COM port
• Game port
• Audio/mic jacks
• Ethernet
• Fan controller ports
Everything here...

ASUS EN7600GS SILENT/HTD Graphics Card
Review of ASUS EN7600GS SILENT/HTD by
albie4fay
Advantages: SLi Compatable, Cheap, compact
Disadvantages: Not the best to overclock, Bit slow on High res Games
...Ive just set up a second computer with the ASUS EN7600GS Silencer 256mb graphics card installed and I dont think there is a better budget upgrade card on the market.
I set this graphics card into the following setup.
Foxconn Am2 N570SM2AA motherboard
AMD Athlon 64x2 3600+ Processor
512 DDR2 800 RAM
Seagate 7200 250 GB Hard Drive
400w Power Supply
DESIGN:
The 7600GS is designed for motherboards with a PCI Express 16 slot and I would suggest it was placed on a motherboard with 2 PCI express slots as this graphics card is SLI capable. Meaning it can be linked with another ASUS EN7600GS so you can run two graphics cards as one Powerfull graphics card. I found the 7600 GS has a little trouble running games very smoothly with high resolutions, particularly with Anti-aliasing enabled. It still does very well and does manage to get...

Extreme Performance For Gamers
Review of ASUS Striker Extreme Republic of Gamers Series - motherboard - ATX - nForce 680i SLI by
safari004
Advantages: Array of Features, Overclocking and many more.
Disadvantages: Price
....
INTRODUCTION:
Yet again ASUS has produced a brilliant motherboard. ASUS Striker Extreme lives up to the quality standards set by ASUS. This motherboard has a host of features to talk about. Review of AMD - K7 by
SmileyBen
Advantages: Fast, fairly cheap for what it is.
Disadvantages: Still at the expensive range compared to lower spec processors
...With blisteringly fast processor speeds, the new K7s are really great chips, and much cheaper than the Intel equivilants whilst still maintaining all the high level calls. I've found them to be really fast and quite quiet, not requiring excessive cooling despite the fast clock speeds. It was very easy to install, just slotting straight into it holder on an ASUS motherboard, with a big rigid structure so you weren't terrified of breaking the fragile chip and wasting hundreds of pounds. It was fully compatible with Linux which I often run, being detected straight away. All in all a great chip....
