...The national museum in Athens is one of the best museums in Greece, where a visitor can see the antiquities of the ancient Greek world and not only. As an archaeologist the Athens museum was and still is a great school for me and helped me learn various things studying on its exhibits. The numerous collections from the Prehistoric, Bronze, Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman Age impress every single visitor. Many great and famous exhibits from the Classical Greece are exhibited in this museum and lots of people travel from all over the world to see them. ...The new airport brings greek aviation into the 21st century. Due to the traffic situation in athens travel time to the airport should be assesed by the day and time of day. The airport can be reached by the new motorway if you are in north or west of athens and by a back road ( now being converted into a motorway)if you are in the south or east of the city. Other than by private cars and coaches, the airport can be reached by taxi or bus. Taxi costs in greece are low and the cost to the airport will average at about 20-25Euro from athens center, should the taxi cost too much more than this you should note the taxi number ( displayed in the taxi) and ask for an official reciept.At the airport you should then take the reciept and number of the taxi to the police office at the airport where it will be dealt with to your advantage. ...Greece is such a marvelous country, infact my favourite country in europe. This has been a favourite holiday destination of mine sine childhood. I have visited numerous islands, Athens and Northern greece. Firstly i must mention the greek people they are very friendly when you get outside the main resorts, not that they are not friendly there but out in the sticks they are even more friendly. Especially if you are fortunate to have blone hair they dont see blondies very much and treat you really special, I have been brought many drinks by the locals because of this. Most of the countryside in greece and the islands is dedicated to olive groves and makes for a nice drive in the country for a picknick or afternoon stroll.
