...The Atlantic Hotel is not a pretty place but it is worth considering, particularly if you are a family looking for a short break. The hotel is not bang in the centre of Liverpool but it is fairly adjacent to the main shopping centre if you do not mind a short walk. The food and decor are about average but are of a pretty good standard so it is unliklet that you will find much to coplain about. During the week it will be mainly used by business men or for conferences but it will be quiter over the weekend. I am recommending this for a family short break because you can take advantage of the offers that are available from the hotel or through Highlife. If you have not got a Highlife brochure see your travel agent for they are well worth having. The 'free children' offers are well worth taking up and will save a bob or two. Parking... Read review

...Having decided on The Gambia for our winter sun holiday, we chose the Corinthia Atlantic Hotel in Banjul for its location away from the more crowded beach resorts along the Atlantic coast in spite of some rather negative reviews we had read. First impression was one of drab brown, beige and dark corridors and a similarly dated room with cigarette burned curtains sagging from missing curtain hooks, brown bedspreads and brown floor tiles. Everywhere was dark from too small energy saving light bulbs. The bathroom was rather dated, and evidently the Gambians are not great at tiling and grouting. However, having said that, the overall atmosphere at the hotel was friendly and easygoing, it was spotlessly clean, and after a day we never noticed any of it again. The staff was so extremely friendly and smiling and did everything possible to help... Read review

...The Corinthia Atlantic Hotel in Banjul is advertised as a four star hotel but I would not rate it at above 3 stars. It is located right on the beach as many of the hotels are in Gambia - be aware that this is a man made beach that will apparently disappear into the sea in the next 20 years unless they build a new one! The hotel has over 200 rooms and 4 suites so I can imagine that it can get very busy in the peak season months. We visited in August which is low season - due to it being "wet season". Indeed we were very lucky with the weather it was hot and sunny most days but there were a couple of amazing thunderstorms. Advantages: Beautiful Scenic setting

...walk to the visitor centre for the Giant's Causeway and the same to the 'bus stop for the mini bus which can take you to this wonderful natural attraction. Actually it's much better to walk, if you're able, as it allows you to stop and admire the scenery as you go. The front of the hotel overlooks a beautiful sandy bay, which is lapped by the Atlantic waves. I'm sure that during some months of the year Atlantic breakers will crash onto it, because according to tourist information surfing is a popular pastime here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RECEPTION On entering the hotel, the reception is immediately to your right. ...My son and I are seasoned travellors and this summer took our first holiday with Virgin to Florida. The administration and hotel in Sarasota were fine but the flights with Virgin Atlantic were not. Why oh why was it necessary to be at Manchester Airport 3 hours before the flight left(ditto at Orlando)? Surely in these days of telephones and emails it must be possible to reduce this figure to an hour at most. The outgoing flight was 4.5 hours late leaving and the return flight 1.5 hours. The result was 7.5 hours plus "lets get there a bit early just in case" spent at Manchester. The &5 hospitality voucher did little to compensate.The seat back mini t/v's worked intermittantly and my letter of complaint was met with sympathy and no compensation.... Read review

...I find it very odd that there is only one Airline that flies directly to Vegas from London Airports. That of course is Virgin. There are several that fly off to Amsterdam first and then onto the USA. I dont really fancy the idea of flying away, stoping, unloading all the baggage and then getting a connecting flight. It means on my week long vacation, Im gonna spend about 2 days solid travelling. That is quite a lot. Its at least 350 quid to fly out there and you gotta add the price of a hotel on top and dont forget spending money. All this because someone I know is getting Married out there.... Read review

...I haven't been to Vegas yet (going in April 2004) but this is my guide to booking a holiday there. Are you thinking of taking a holiday in Las Vegas and booking with a tour operator? ...the presentation and know what they want to buy or do through Virgin..... The hotels on offer are excellent, particularly Virgin Flagship hotels, with all the little extras given to their clients are a nice touch such as a free copy of the Daily Mail every day and the mail on Sunday at the weekends ( printed under licence locally).. ~~o0o~~ Its a pity Virgin Atlantic doesn't take a leaf from Virgin Holidays on how to look after its regular clients, if you are looking to go to the USA and in particular Florida for the first time then you could do a lot worse that give Virgin Holidays a go... Virgin Atlantic may have lost their sparkle in recent years, the flight attendents are more like Trolley Dollys than professional Flight Crew, and care less and less for their passengers who are treated like charter passengers rather than Scheduled, however... ...the thrid flight back on. As such , flights are becoming more overbooked. This becomes particularly so at the weekends , Friday , Saturday and Sunday. When we were returning on Friday 14th June on VS0024 the flight was overbooked. The Airlines need to find people to take delays i.e. to stay another day. Most people take great offence to this "We have paid to fly on this plane so we will". What they don't know is the compensation available. BA used to be money - I don't know what they currently do. Virgin give you a Free Flight , put you up in a Hotel overnight and free Food. Ignoring my youngest son who is only 1 , we received three Free Flights (which can be used anytime for 18 Months to anywhere that Virgin Atlantic Travel). What did we do , we volunteered thus saving Virgin the hassle of having to force someone not to fly. This makes... Read review

Disadvantages: The weather is not always what it could be, but where is? Also all traffic has to pass through the 'island', leading to unpleasant traffic delays

...Enniskillen is a genuine 'Island Town' - it is said that the name means 'Island of Kathleen'. The River Erne, which joins the Upper Lough (the amaller, and full of islands), and the Lower Lough (a much larger expanse of water), 'splits' to surround the town centre. As well as many of the major national chains, there are any locally operated establishments, and you can be sure of many bargains, especially as the proximity of the 'value of the punt' is a temptation for shoppers to cross the border into Eire. The are excellent hotels and restaurants and hotels, where you can 'stay', eat and drink, and umpteen pubs where you can drink, eat and often 'stay'. The people of Enniskillen are very friendly and welcoming, and visitors for all over Eupope come for the fishing - with so many lakes and rivers and the Atlantic Coast within an hour... Read review
