Im not a virgin anymore
Review of Virgin Atlantic Airways - VIR by
billi65
Advantages: None this time
Disadvantages: Soaked Luggage & Delay
...chair and the TV screen was an old non adjustable type, the engine noise was so loud I never heard one announcement by the cabin staff or captain. The cabin staff looked about 17years old and were really bad at the safety checks. Some over head lokers were not closed properly and even at take off some people had their dinner tables down. Anyway, surprisingly, I made it across the Atlantic. At Gatwick when the luggage came around the carousel, water was pouring out of peoples cases!!! Obviously, in Miami the cases had been left out in the thunder storm.
I am now seeking compensation for suits & luggage ruined and will not use Virgin again....

Virgin Atlantic are First Class
Review of Virgin Express by
pixiedust
Advantages: Very Helpful
Disadvantages: None
...We used Virgin Atlantic this year to travel to America after being told by a number of people that this airline was the one to use.
A couple of weeks before we flew, we were able to reserve our seats for no charge, order children's meals and order and pay for our duty free both on the outward and inward flight. I was particularly impressed with the price of the duty free, which was cheaper than the airport. Our duty free was then given to us on the plane.
On arrival, the children were given their own bags full of goodies including a drink, sweets, a book and other things. The bag itself was good quality and is now used regularly for school.
The airline staff were friendly and very helpful. Each seat had its own television showing films and children’s programmes. Drink was available free of charge throughout the flight and we were...

The new benchmark in Trans Atlantic flights
Review of Virgin Atlantic Airways - VIR by
ScottishWestie
Advantages: Staff, service, amenities, modern planes
Disadvantages: Long check in queues
...crew were excellent, smartly dressed, professional, efficient, friendly & helpful. Not that you ever needed to call upon them for help.
Passengers got the usual complimentary drinks & snacks & a half decent meal half way through the flight. Each passenger had a small screen on the back of the headrest in front showing a good selection of films, you could listen to music or even watch the aircrafts progress across the Atlantic on the TV screen. A nice touch as the flight was drawing to an end, passengers were served ice cream. The plane arrived on time at Boston & no luggage was lost.
Two weeks later we arrived back at Boston on the return flight, this time despite being told to arrive three hours before departure time, we arrived four hours before & just made it to the departure desk by about ten minutes. The queue was even worse than...

Virgin Holidays Florida
Review of Virgin Holidays by
Dalesman
Advantages: Caring company, brilliant destinations
Disadvantages: Use only Virgin Atlantic which is a major disadvantage if flying from Manchester
..., Virgin Holidays tend to look after their clients very well whilst in florida....its just a pity Virgin Atlantic don't do the same.....
~~o0o~~
Book through your local travel agent as there are usually discounts available, but if you book direct with Virgin you pay the brochure price which seems a bit silly as you are cutting out the agents commision by booking direct, you'd think that they would at least offer you the holiday minus the agents commission ... frequent Virgins also get bonuses like an automatic car upgrade and discounts on the excursions so its worth being part of the club.....if you haved booked or have made at least three separate holidays with Virgin Holidays then you may join the club, I got a free T'shirt, personalised luggage tags, membershhip card and welcome pack all for FREE......

Great Service
Review of Virgin Atlantic Airways - VIR by
corman
Advantages: service, entertainment
Disadvantages:
...I've only flown with Virgin Atlantic once and it was by default. Having changed my ticket home from Auckland and no longer flying LA to London with BA, the next cheapest was Virgin.
Needless to say having had the journey from hell, having all my luggage stolen in NZ before flying out, and travelling alone, I wasn't a happy bunny at all.
The flight with Air New Zealand was busy and cramped with little leg room and a couple of moaners on either side of me. To say the least I wasn't looking forward to the flight from LA to London.
I was in for a very pleasant surprise though. Even though you're flying economy you still feel quite spoiled. There's the complimentary bag stuffed with travel goodies and vouchers - a freebie however small always makes you feel special and given I only had what I stood up in it made me feel much better...

Cheap, not likely
Review of Prestwick, Scotland (PIK) by
MJKerr
Advantages: south west scotland
Disadvantages: it is not Glasgow
...shows.
Most of the facilities can be used on the lower level. Shops and restaurants are very basic, so visit these before you proceed to the departure lounge. The departure lounge is very extensive and you will not be called to the flight until it is ready for boarding. General signage throughout the airport is clear and easy to read.
On arrival, luggage does tend to be rather slow, as it is designed for the larger trans-atlantic aircraft. No matter whether there are a few items or a large number, it takes the same time (feels like an eternity).
However, since Ryanair is the main airline and the fares are cheap, flights do tend to be punctual. You pays your money for what you get really....

HORRIBLE AIRLINE WITH INCOMPETENT, RUDE STAFF
Review of Virgin Atlantic Airways - VIR by
hatevirginairlines
Advantages: NONE
Disadvantages: EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS AIRLINE
...responded, "well, hindsight is 20/20 isn't it?" This kind of rule response was the manner in which all the passengers were treated throughout this horrific experience.
We finally took off at 2:00 a.m. eastern time (7 a.m. London time, the time I should have arrived at Heathrow). We arrived London at approximately 2 p.m. to be informed that none of the luggage from flight VS 021 made it to London. Needless to say there was outrage among the passengers. We were each given a pre-printed form to fill out with our address in London and told our baggage would be delivered in one to two days. I tried to explain the situation to the Virgin Atlantic attendant regarding why everyone was so upset (I was very courtesy and polite). Her response was, "well, I don't know what to tell you, that was Washington and this is London."
Due to the complete...

Never ever ever
Review of Iberia - IBE by
ImogenW
Advantages: Erm...
Disadvantages: Utter crap
...fly Iberia airways. Ever. Not if you want to arrive with your luggage/sanity/holiday spirit intact. They are, quite simply, the worst airline I've ever flown. Coming back from Mexico to the UK last year with them was the worst airline experience of my life. For a start, they failed to tell us that they'd moved the flight forward an hour, so by the time we checked in we'd already missed it. They managed to get our bags on after I burst into tears, and shunted us onto another flight to Miami. At Miami we transferred to the transatlantic flight, a normal if below standard trip - the seat space was non-existent, the food terrible and the music choice eccentric to say the least. The plane, however, did make it to spain - just - but an hour late. Which left us half an hour to get the connection back to the UK. Our attempts to bolt through...

Dollar Car Rental L.A.
Review of Dollar Rent A Car Worldwide by
jewels
Advantages: Good transfers from the airport and quick service
Disadvantages: No-one checks the state of the vehicle before you take it
...Having recently been on my first fly-drive holiday to the U.S.A. I was interested to see what quality of vacation I would have driving around America instead of flying. I had been told by people that it was a better way to see the country.
We found the cheapest way to hire a car was through our tour operator, Virgin Atlantic. We were steered towards Dollar Car Rental, (pardon the pun).
We arrived at L.A. Airport and only waited a few minutes for the bus to arrive which would transport us the the pick up point. There were quite a few of us waiting but the driver was helpful to everyone with their luggage.
We arrived a the Car lot and didn't have to wait long for our turn. The receptionist was very organised and helpful. It didn't take long for all the paperwork to be signed and issued. We were asked if we required any maps to help...

VIRGIN VIRGINS
Review of Virgin Holidays by
SBROWN487
Advantages: GOOD REPUTATION, SLIGHTLY MORE LEG ROOM THAN CHEAPER AIRLINES
Disadvantages: NONE
...On our third trip to Florida we decided to fly with Virgin Atlantic, having flown with First Choice for the previous two trips. If you are staiying in Orlando, one of the advantages of Virgin is that they fly to Orlando Airport as opposed to the cheaper flights landing at Sanford which is approximately an hours drive from Orlando. After a 9 or more hour flight the sooner you reach your final destination the better. We flew from Gatwick and check in went very smoothly, you can check in the evening before if you live sufficiently close to the airport.
Our outward flight exceeded our expectations, especially as out family of four were seated in the back seats which enabled us to recline them without bothering people behind us and the row of seats in front was completely empty, my husband made full advantage of this and stretched out...
