The publishers call this a Gothic romance. I didn't know what they meant by that before reading the book, but I now understand it to be a romance with at least one dark side to it. All the main characters are well-developed but I think the most entertaining are the ones with the deepest dark side. There are many scheming characters full of greed and/or a desire for revenge in this book. While I found the Australian adventures in the first half the most compelling, I was also intrigued by the mysterious deaths, but not the romance, in the second half of the tale. ...Movie World Movie World is described as Hollywood on the Gold Coast (granted smaller than the real thing). It includes thrill rides all-family fun with shows and attractions. Every corner you turn you feel like you have been placed in a cartoon. It is opened daily from 10am to 5.30pm. On Anzac Day it opens later at 1.30pm and it is closed on Christmas Day. Warner Bros Movie World is located on the M1 Pacific Motorway at Oxenford, and is 21kms north of Surfers Paradise. You can get a shuttle bus that will run directly to the park from Surfers. We bought our tickets on the bus so we didn't have to queue in the long queues. Tickets cost $69 adult and $45 for a child. ...Situated at the very end of Broad Street The Australian Bar is standard setting start, or a great end to the traditional Broad Street pub crawl. Prices are amongst the best on Broad St, and a good atmosphere makes the Australian Bar one of the top pubs on Broad St. With down under staff, and aboriginal art scattered around this bar appears to have made a big effort to create an Aussie feel. Big tv screens usually show sports and a good range of music is also played, with decent live bands playing now and then. A function room upstairs is available after the pub closes, but I have never been up so it would be unfair to comment on it. A lot of seating is availiable and a few nice setees are also around, but these are quite popular. Good looking girls and cool beer make it definatley worth a visit. ...Whilst going about my one man quest to try every sweet, treat and chocolate bar in the world I stumbled upon a nice little treat from down under. Australian Soft Eating Red Liquorice (henceforth to be known as Oz Liquorice) is a glorious confection that sadly is only available in one place outside Australia, and that is Lakeland Limited. It can be ordered from www.lakelandlimited.com or purchased from one of the Lakeland Limited twenty-six shops scattered up and down the country, with £3.50 being the sum necessary to buy a bag. In my opinion it would not be advisable to order just Oz Liquorice on its own via mail order as the postage and packing cost would be as much as the bag of sweets at £3.50, but I do recommend you add it to your next larger order.
