Good looking, great sounding
Review of B&W CC6 S2 by  BruceH

Advantages: Great response
Disadvantages: none

...This speaker is great. I have it at the centre of a room full of 601 S2 speakers. The sound is very well balanced, particularly for vocals as you would expect from a centre speaker. It sounds great for DVDs and also for music. In a home cinema setup it benefits from the addition of a subwoofer as the bass response doesn't get down to that range. Features -------- Technology from £35000 Nautilus speakers. Great looking yellow and black finish when covers off. Twin cable terminals to allow bi-wiring or bi-amping. (bridging plates supplied for single wiring) NB: Don't let your speakers down with poor cabling!!... Read review

I'm not quite a gentleman yet ...
Review of GQ by  theladsmag

Advantages: Great features, good editorial
Disadvantages: Price, number of advertisements

...with 80's pop legend Phil Oakey of the Human League and a look at Amazonian football Jason Barlow reviews the new Morgan in the motoring section. Celeb ligger, Jamie Theakston gets a mention detailing all his triumphs with the birds. There's a review of some very tasty speakers including the Nautilus 802 by B&W priced at a wallet breaking £6000 !! The fashion section checks out some dodgy pullovers and cardigans that even Craig David probably wouldn't be seen wearing ! The one is thing I noticed about this issue is the amount of ads it had in it, there's more ads than features ! I suppose they have to pay the bills some how. Well, I can't say anymore cos ya won't buy the mag and I'll spoil it for ya. Happy reading, theladsmag { http://theladsmag.co.uk }... Read review

Joey Tribiani has a blue pair.
Review of Scandyna - Minipod by  DubaiBug

Advantages: Sound Great, Look Superb
Disadvantages: My rubber balls fall off.

...Chances are you may well of seen a pair of these speakers, they often appear on TV programs and in films. These curvy pods of aural delight look like cross between a conch shell and a jelly baby. The story goes that some of the guys behind the legendary Nautilus speaks from B & W (£25,000 a pair), decided to go it alone and utilise their talents to produce a more affordable consumer version. The MiniPod is the result, and at around £275 a pair a good deal cheaper too. The speakers have a kevlar main cone above which sits a tweeter. Below sits a vent to allow the bass frequencies room to develop. They stand on three short alluminum legs with tiny rubber balls on the end (my balls fall off when I move them...) At the rear are the speaker terminals, the nice sprung type that are easy to connect cables to. So we know they look... Read review

Great Speaker to Upgrade your Crappy Stereo System
Review of B&W DM302 by  From_The_Continent

Advantages: Very good sound for such a small & cheap speaker. Very dynamic & roomy.
Disadvantages: Just slightly too bright, no deep bass, no bi-wiring.

...good speaker at a reasonable price requires far more skill. A task at which the Hi-Fi brands sold in high street shops usually fail, including such famous names as Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood, Yamaha or Technics. An affordable cure to the typical ailments of a cheap stereo is the B&W DM 302, a speaker for £150 per pair. I bought a pair of these over a year ago as secondary speakers and use them alternatingly in my bedroom and kitchen, as well as for parties. The DM 302 is the low-cost entry into the world of B&W Speakers, an audiophile brand which produces such legends as the £12,000 Nautilus and is a supplier to many recording studios. Not much of this high-end technology has found its way into the cheap DM 302, but B&W have applied all their skill to build a very good speaker at an almost unbeatable price. This is a small bookshelf speaker... Read review

I publicly admit to Voyeurism - already updated
Review of B&W CDM 2SE by  From_The_Continent

Advantages: Absolutely superb midrange frequencies and very smooth treble. Neutral and yet very atmospheric. Beats many speakers at twice its price.
Disadvantages: Slight problems with three-dimensional reproduction and upper bass overemphasis. Power-hungry and thus critical with some amplifiers.

...Technology) series, and this seems to be a rather large step in refining these already excellent speakers. The NT models employ some of the technology of B&W's top Nautilus 800 range which trades at five times the prices of the CDM models. I haven't had a chance to listen to them yet, but from what I hear they must be fantastic. As a result of these upgrades, the original CDMs can now be had for half the price second hand, and the SE models trade at around 30% discount either second hand or in stock sales of B&W dealers. All models come with ten years warranty, which I find quite outstanding. The Sound Before I discuss the particular characteristics of this speaker, I should mention that the CDM 2 generally plays far above its price. When testing it in my dealer's showroom, I quickly... Review of Everything that starts with X ... by  Toonarmy

Advantages: see how many you get right
Disadvantages: may cause brainache on this wed afternoon

...I am a wee bit bored, just waiting for things, so I thought I would test people's brain power......... some of it is quite logical, and sometimes you need to think a bit broader than normal. Good luck! You have to work out what the letters mean. See No 0 as an example. According to MENSA, if you get 23 of these, you are a "genius". Only 2 MENSA members achieved full marks. Classic work
Review of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea - Jules Verne by  xxxxdomixxxx

Advantages: Stylish, inventive, entertaining
Disadvantages: Some criticize the over-descriptive parts, but I enjoy these

...This piece is often classed as Verne's masterpiece. As the father of modern science fiction, he is an excellent writer: both imaginative and scientific. The main characters here are Professor Arronax, a learned man with much in commong with Captain Nemo, his faithful servant Conseil, and the whaler Ned Land. They find themselves together on a hunt for an enormous sea-creature, much feared after wrecking several ships, but also much sought after for it's scientific and public interest. When they finally find the creature, they find themselves under attack, and Ned Land, the Professor and Conseil find themselves thrown into the sea, and take refuge on the back of the beast. It is only now that they make a fantastic discovery: the beast is in fact a machine, and the machine's crew take them inside. This vessel is the Nautilus... Read review

These could save you £7 a room on electricity!
Review of Ikea - energy saving lightbulb - SPARSAM by  Science_angie

Advantages: Save you money...
Disadvantages: Inital outlay...

...through gas in a tube, making the tube's coating glow brightly. This is why you get a slightly orange glow to begin with. As with fluorescent tubes they do need specialist disposal as they have mercury vapour inside… but with a bulb lasting 10,000hours I have yet to need this. **Why try energy saving bulbs?** Well as a Scientist I know that traditional bulbs waste a lot of their energy by turning it into heat. Energy saving light bulbs use up to four times less electricity to generate the same amount of light. Where you'd normally use a 60W bulb, you'll only need a 11-20W energy saving bulb. **The figures** Energy rating A = most efficient. These bulbs are rating B. So by doing the maths I worked out that each energy saving bulb can reduce my electricity bill by up to £7 a year, which on 5 bulbs could save me £35 a year!!! Which by far... Read review

Aye aye, Captain Nemo
Review of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea - Jules Verne by  President-X-D

Advantages: Great story, great characters, great PERIOD!
Disadvantages: a bit over-descriptive

..., this is no creature at all, but the most spectacular vehicle ever created by man. It is the Nautilus, a gigantic submarine, and the proud creation of the enigmatic Captain Nemo. Captain Nemo holds the three as his prisoner. They are instructed that they may never leave the Nautilus, yet will be treated with hospitality and respect by Nemo and his crew. The Captain keeps his word, and treats the Professor and his fellows to all the wonders of the ocean depths. Captain Nemo has made the sea his home, vowing never to return to the distasteful world on land. The Nautilus has everything you would need to live and prosper; infinite supplies of water through its seawater processing machines, and an abundance of exotic seafood dredged up from the deep. Captain Nemo himself is as mystifying and brilliant as his creations. He is one of the greatest villains ever... Read review
