...Barcelona ^^^^^^^^^ Barcelona is one of the most popular city break destinations in Europe, and for several very good reasons. It is only a short flight from the UK and with budget airlines can be very cheap to reach. Being a coastal city the climate is not too oppressive for our sensitive natures and there is a little bit of everything available to keep just about any kind of visitor entertained. There are bars, restaurants and night life if that’s what you’re after. There are museums, galleries and spectacular architecture if that’s your bent and there are beaches, parks and shopping to fill in the gaps. Whatever type of break you’re after; chances are you’ll find it in Barcelona. ...What do you do when you're on a tight budget but want to go to Barcelona? My friends and I spent about 400GBP per person for a two week trip to Barcelona and Costa Brava, which is pretty reasonable considering the duration of the trip..:) The cost included the five-day rental of a beachside apartment in Blanes, a small town on the costa Brava. Firstly, to make things work into your budget, plan early!! Very important, especially if you're planning to go during summer, because that's the peak season (duh!) and it will be pretty difficult finding cheap flights, accommodation etc. We went during early Easter, so the flight prices were still pretty reasonable (about 86 pounds for a return trip on Easyjet); however in summer it is, apparently, cheaper to go through a travel agency for your flight tickets. Advantages: Fantastic rooms - they thought of almost everything
Disadvantages: A long way from the centre of the city

...There was a time - not so long ago - when business travellers were almost all men and suppliers to the industry (airlines, hotels etc) built their offer around what men wanted. Cutting edge hotel décor was of the 'dark wood - black leather - lots of chrome' variety that's apparently supposed to appeal to the boys. If you are old enough, think of the apartment of the control-freak boyfriend in the film 'Nine and a Half Weeks' and you'll get the idea. For many years, if you were a woman staying in business hotels in Eastern Europe, you had to be careful not to sit alone in reception waiting for anyone as you might find yourself in the company of lots of other 'ladies' who weren't exactly paying for their rooms, if you know what I mean. It was designed and started by Gaudi, however it is planned to be completed in about 2020 and it probably will be the largest thing you ahve ever seen when it is finished! definitely worth a visit. There is a bullring in Barcelona, however it is not at all popular on the city, as it is in Madrid I would argue, but still the building is still fantastic.
