Review of Barca (A People's Passion) - Jimmy Burns by Chris_Padden

Advantages: Excellent read politically and for football. Great account of the Catalan nation and very interesting
Disadvantages: None

...The Barcelona Real Madrid derby games in the Spanish football league could be considered to be one of the most passionate and most colourful games in the football world. So good a story is the history of the Catalan giants Barcelona that Jimmy Burns decided to write a book about it. Simply called ‘A Peoples Passion’ that is what Barcelona is. It is more than a football club, they represent a whole nation, the nation of Catalonia. So much so they have refused to give into commercialism and disfigure their shirts with a sponsors message. The club is for the people with a huge and influential fan base that elects the president and public opinion holds large sway. The title of the book sums the club up nicely and it covers the whole history of Barcelona FC through its formation, civil war, the Franco years, right up... Read review

BS Cinco - The Pride of Catalonia
Review of Nou Camp - Barcelona F.C. by jefferson

Advantages: Impressive stadium and accompanying museum
Disadvantages: Not allowed onto pitch!

...Here's something to do while you're in Barcelona: ask (politely!) any Catalan on the street what the most important football team in the world is. It doesn't take an Einstein to realise that FC Barcelona will come up trumps 99.99% of the time. "El Nou Estadi del Futbol Club Barcelona", affectionately known by the Catalan nickname of "Camp Nou", is the current home of FC Barcelona. The venue for numerous glorious footballing moments since its inauguration in 1957, the famous stadium undoubtedly contains the most revered blades of grass in Catalonia, and a comprehensive list of the sporting greats who have graced it would be very long indeed. The fiery Catalan separatist tradition has always flowed naturally onto the football pitch; anyone who has witnessed Barcelona against bitter rivals Real Madrid would find it hard to disagree! FC... Fancy A Tour Of The Camp
Review of Nou Camp - Barcelona F.C. by Andy.mack

Advantages: Standing on the Pitch looking up into the stands. A great value tour
Disadvantages: Thats there was no game on the weekend we were there, although we did go and see Espanyol instead

...was in charge you will notice one theme in all of them. He’s never actually looking at the camera in any of them. Finally having done all that, which took the best part of 4 and a half hours for the tour and museum visit you leave via the Barcelona club shop as the way out drops you right into the middle of it. From here you can of course by any old Barcelona merchandising tat. From Shirts with names and numbers on them costing not far off £80 down to packets of crisps and toy cars for a couple of Euros. There’s also a service where they take you picture and plant it next to a player from the past or present of Barcelona. Well that’s pretty much the tour, well worth the price of the entrance fee. The exhibits are all full of information for anyone with a love of Football, and the Trophy cabinet in the director’s box really is a sight to behold... Read review

Nou Camp!
Review of Nou Camp - Barcelona F.C. by shamis4

Advantages: great stadium, great team and an interseting tour - what more could you want!
Disadvantages: None

...) - 10,40 Euros Children under 6 - free There is also a very large club shop to visit where you can buy a variety of Barcelona related merchandise from team kits and shirts to t-shirts, pencils, golf balls, footballs, bags, and anything else you can think of with the team logo on it! Match day: Of course the only way to truly understand the Nou Camp experience is to watch a match there and feel the amazing atmosphere. When we went we saw Barcelona against Osasuna. The atmosphere was electric with a near full stadium and everyone cheering, chanting and singing (including us!). The stadium is lit up with colour from all the shirts and with cameras constantly flashing you know you are somewhere special. The team are also exceptionally good and were able to defeat Osasuna 2-0, with a goal (header) from Eto'o and i can't remember the other one... Read review

What are you doing this weekend
Review of Barcelona in general by LBoy

Advantages: So much to see
Disadvantages: Finding somewhere to stay

...Barcelona is only 2-hour flight away and the fare including tax is only around £100 or less... What are you doing this weekend? Come to the beautiful seafront of Barcelona and enjoy the gentle sea breeze of Mediterranean Sea. You can even ride a cable car over the modern habour of Barcelona. It will take you to the clean sandy beaches (St Sebastia) just beyond the habour. The cable car also goes to a hill (Montjuic) where you'll find the vast Olympic Stadium (Estadi Olimpic), and a domed palace (Palau Nacional) which is now a museum of Catalan art. On top of the hill, there is a disused military fortress (Castell de Montjuic) that can be reached also by cable car. Up here, you'll appreciate the panoramic view of Barcelona city. To go down from Montjuic to street level, try the funicular railway (Funicular de Montjuic) or just walk down... Read review

Barcelona unwrapted
Review of Barcelona (Spain) by disneykelly

Advantages: beautiful sights, shops, nightlife
Disadvantages: can be expensive

...Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of Spain boasts plenty of attractions for natives and tourists. Be sure to see the classic harbour overlooking the beaches, the beautiful boutiques around the ramblas, market shops where you can spend hours a selection of sights to visit and the amazing nightlife - it has it all. The City is perfect for all ages, and covers a variety of budgets. There is so much to see and do in Barcelona - beautiful gothic cathedrals are located in many of the cities squares, surrounded by cafes and fashionable restaurants. La Sagrada Familia - built by Gaudi which was and never finished is a lovely afternoon trip and after walking all day have a drink at Placa Reial. Don't forget to visit all the museums. Barcelona does boast about it's art collections, sculptures, and the Salvador Dali museum at Figueras... Read review

A poor quality footy shirt from a big club
Review of Nike Barcelona Home Football Shirt by dingoo

Advantages: light material, a good colour scheme, neat design
Disadvantages: feels cheap, expensive, hard to wash

...I was bought the Barcalona football shirt as a present it is made by Nike and I would expect a good quality from this brand. Not so the shirt is feather light and is very hard to wash, on the tab in the shirt it says dont not lay ontiself after washing, wash with same colours and do not use softeners, probably because the colours may run into each other. Also you are not supposed to iron this shirt, for a couple of reasons one it may melt and two could stick to your iron, it has a very plasticy feel. I also read on the tab it says keep away from fire!, without doubt we do this with all our clothes, but I find myself thinking this shirt would melt very very easily. The material is more plasticy/nylon/polyester than anything probably to aid the lightness but it isnt very durable, it could rip easy as we see many times watching football... Read review

Breathtaking
Review of Everything that starts with B ... by thehud

Advantages: Great players
Disadvantages: Centre backs

...Spanish giants Barcelona have always threatened to be a side which can take on all comers and leave them wanting – the ease with which they despatched Leeds United 4-0 in the first group stage of the Champions League last season was a clear indication of that fact. Yet somehow in previous years they have flattered to deceive and fallen apart when they seemed on the very brink of true brilliance and getting the just rewards for their undoubted class – a fallible force, seemingly doomed forever to be found wanting. However, the first game of the second qualifying stage of this year’s Champions League, when they travelled to Anfield to meet Liverpool, seemed to indicate that finally Barca might actually have got the magic recipe right and in that wonderful second half, once they had gained a crucial lead, some of Barcelona’s football... Barcelona and its football team.
Review of Barcelona (Spain) by Yeahmate

Advantages: Great city, Very good if inconsistent football team
Disadvantages: Disorganised airport, confusing ring road

...Barcelona is a fantastic place - I went there last year with Chelsea's football team, and OK, we got wasted 5-1, but I still loved the place. Even then, last year, the weather was sunny and warm, and the people were very friendly. There are a number of sights in Barcelona, such as the massive Gothic cathedral, the Place de Catalunya in the centre, and the harbour. The number 1 tourist attraction however, is amazingly enough the Nou Camp and its museum, home of F.C Barcelona. Also it is the second biggest tourist attraction in Spain. It holds about 100'000 people, making it one of the biggest stadiums in Europe. F.C Barcelona is not just a football team, it is a sports team, with basketball, hockey and many other sports, as well as arguably the most famous football team in the world. It is also a huge business, with F.C Barcelona... Read review

The Great Catalunyic City
Review of Barcelona (Spain) by ewan_1991

Advantages: Wonderfull Architecture.
Disadvantages: None

...Barcelona, voted the worlds best city is situated on the North East of Spain, sitting lively on the mediteranean sea. Although my visit to the Capital of Catalunya was short, I saw the best places of Barcelona on the top of a double-decker bus. The buildings are beautifull and are extremely detailed. Architects and artists galore! The most fabulous landmark I saw was definately "La Sagrada Familia". This is a massive gothic cathedral which is the work of Antoni Gaudi. It has been under construction since 1882, and is most definately the most popular museums in Barcelona. Antoni Gaudi's work is proved to be very popular with tourists! An attraction I would have liked to visit but unfortunately ran out of time too see was the "Museu Picasso". This museum is the most popular art gallery in Barcelona. It is home to a very large...
