Did you know bay is a sweet laurel ?
Review of Bay by  mumsymary

Advantages: good for cookery
Disadvantages: ?

...Did you know the bay tree is a laurel ? I did not till today. There are several species of the bay/laurel tree Sweet Laurel (Laurus nobilis) The sweet laurel bay laurus noblius although first found in Asia Minor and the Mediterranean has grown in Britain since thec16c. This laurus nobilius grows as a small tree about to about 25 foot, in warm countries it will grow taller. This tree has a smooth bark. It is an evergreen, the leaves a narrow oval pointed shape (lanceolate) they are thick and smooth a shiny green. The flowers are small and yellow the fruit black with a single seed. The leaves are dried and stored for use. Bay leaves can be used in cookery flavouring soups, stews, fish, and pickles. The flavour is quite bitter, If you buy dried bay leaves they might not be this plant but the American California bay... Read review

Mounts Bay Waters Apartments..A 5* experience!
Review of Mounts Bay Waters Apartment Hotel, Perth by  scarletuk72

Advantages: Very close to Perth city, stunning views, ultra modern......
Disadvantages: Room service got you up far too early!

...apartment buildings in all, each with there own unique name, Acacia, Borania, Caesia etc Which, incidently are all botanical names, for example, Caesia is a type of eucalyptus...I know, i know, just call me charlie (that lass with strange hair and no bra!) Everywhere was extremely clean and tidy and each building was painted in different pastel colours i.e muted pinks, yellows and creams....lovely! There are two entrances into the village off Mounts Bay road, it doesn't really matter which one you enter or exit from as the road just does a "U" through the village and back onto the main road. Once inside, the road is fully block paved and very beautifully lined with trees, and as it runs in front of the apartment buildings it gives it much more of a courtyard feel. There are also parking bays which are generally used for visitors... Read review

Capo Bay Hotel, Protaras
Review of Capo Bay Hotel,Protaras by  kismet

Advantages: fantastic 4* hotel
Disadvantages: don't go there in the week that they close!

...We have just returned from our honeymoon in Cyprus. We stayed at the Capo Bay Hotel, which stands on the Fig Tree Bay in the resort of Protaras. It is one hours drive from Larnaca Airport. (I will reveiw Protaras as a resort separately. This review is solely on the Capo Bay Hotel). The hotel was fantastic. It is 4star hotel and the service and facilities are great. The Capo Bay hotel has 225 rooms over 4 floors and was built in 1985. It offers a gymnasium with massage and jacuzzi, tennis, scuba diving, pool, 2 swimming pools (1 heated) and 4 different restaurants to eat in, including 1 beside the pool. We paid £1500 for two weeks Bed & Breakfast. This was for an inland view room, but because we were on our honeymoon, we were upgraded to a seaview room. We overlooked the swimming pool and had an excellent view... Read review

Sunday at Maracas Bay
Review of Maracas Bay by  catram31

Advantages: Local food, beautiful
Disadvantages: Need a car

...In Trinidad, it is normal to take a drive on a Sunday to the beach, and none is more beautiful or in fact popular than Maracas Bay. As you drive over the Maracas hills the view of the Moka golfcourse can be seen as well as the lower valley. The temperature actually changes and the air begins to get fresher as you drive upward to the top of the mountain, the road lined with trees on the hillside. As you begin descending, you approach a couple small sheds where you can buy preserves of local fruits, including pepper mango, pepper pine, soaked pommycythere, soaked plum to name a few. As you munch on these you then arrive at a large lookout with a stunning view of the bay below. You usually see many small tents with local craft and foods that you can buy. Once you approach the beach, the smell of car brakes fills the air as the final... Read review

The joy of Maracas Bay
Review of Maracas Bay by  ttspud

Advantages: Easy to get to, extremely beautiful
Disadvantages: Always teeming with people

...This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Trinidad. The drive to the beach takes you across the tree lined hills on a single lane road where you can stop along the way to purchase preserves of local fruit, including green mangoes, plums and pepper pineapples. There is also a large lookout where you can see the sea from a most gorgeous vantage point. The drive along the hills also brings with it a change in the air both in terms of freshness but also a calming coolness. Once you approach the final stretch to the beach, the beauty and expanse of the bay is striking visually. There is a huge car park behind the beach which also holds many small huts selling their specialty fare, fried shark and bake, with many different condiments and salad vegetables to insert. There are many different places that cater for this delicacy at a cost... Read review

Tea tree tingle
Review of Original Source Mint & Tea Tree Shampoo by  angel.sue

Advantages: Wakes you up in the mornings!
Disadvantages: It does take a bit of getting used to

...If you want something to wake you up in the morning that is not too expensive try Original Source Tea Tree and Mint Shampoo (and conditioner). Boy, is it powerful. It took me a few weeks to get used to. When you wash your head with it it feels like a normal shampoo for a few moments, then, as you are washing it off you receive a cold, tingly sensation which is almost like someone wrapping your head in a cooling towel. It is not at all unpleasant, but it does wake you up.When I was a student I used to find it really hard to get up, even after a shower, but this would get me going in the morning. It is also lovely and cooling if you take it on your hols (and you can sometimes get little sashets for this purpose). The shampoo contains tea-tree, which is known to help problem scalps. It is not a remedy for dandruff or scalp complaints... Read review

Blessed by Apollo!
Review of Bay by  mum52

Advantages: easy to grow, evergreen, many uses
Disadvantages: mentioned within review

...Ovid relates the story of Daphne, metamorphosed into a Bay tree by her father, the river god Peneus, to avoid the amorous advances of Apollo on his triumphant return from killing the ancient serpent, Python. ►▪◄ Identification ►▪◄ Bay is native to the Mediterranean region and has the latin name "Laurus nobilis" according to Linnaean classification: Laurus = "praise", nobilis = 'famous', excellent or 'notable'. The plant is also known as Sweet Bay, Bay Laurel, Roman Bay, Roman Laurel or Daphne. Bay is a vigorous, densely branched evergreen with dark grey or black trunk. It has aromatic elongated, shiny, hairless, dark-green leaves up to about 13 cm (5 inches) long and up to 5 cm (2 inches) across which are carried on short dark red stems. Ha Long Bay( decending dragon bay)
Review of Halong Bay (Vietnam) by  minhhon

Advantages: breathtaking landscape
Disadvantages: quite hard to get there

...In the northern side of Vietnam, apart from Hanoi-the capital, Sapa, Halong bay is another worth visiting address. How to get there Located near Vietnam's north coast. The nearest city called Halong ( just the same name). If you were in Hanoi, it just take two hours on the bus to go to Halong- the city and then one more hour on the cruise to the bay. All cost about 10$( if you want a nice cruise, you'd better pay more). Landscape Known as Natural World Heritage site, Halong bay consists of over 2000 islands and islets as well as some limestone rock with hundreds of different shape. As you are on the cruise , you can see them closely and relise that they even have their 'soul'. Each of them has its own name such as: *Hon Trong Mai ( the cock and hen islet ). *Hon Thien nga ( the swan islet). *Hon Dau nguoi ( the human... Read review

Byron Bay Beach Bum!!
Review of Byron Bay Break by  LIZKEMPO

Advantages: Great beaches and surf
Disadvantages: Expensive

...Beach Bum in Byron Byron Bay is situated on the East Coast of Australia in New South Wales. Byron Bay is a relaxing retreat with gorgeous beaches for sun bathing and surfing, a hippy vibe with lots of alternative health shops and therapies, a party atmosphere with great bars and often music festivals, it really has something for everyone. Things to do: Byron Bay Lighthouse - This is must do while in Byron Bay, the lighthouse walk is well worth the effort with amazing costal views and in the right season whale spotting can be done from the top. I have been informed that this season over 200 whales where spotted in Byron Bay in the first 3 days of migration. I highly recommend the Sun Rise walk, about 5am you can head up to the Light House and watch the amazing sight of the sun coming up over the most beautiful scenery... Read review
