Reviews of ben & jerry's caramel
Choo...choo...choose Ben & Jerry's Caramel
Review of Ben and Jerry's Caramel Choo Choo by
proxam
Advantages: Delicious caramel
Disadvantages: None, unless you don't like caramel
...yes, it was a scorcher yesterday. And what better way to chill-out than scoffing some ice-cream...which is what we did.
We indulged ourselves with some BEN & JERRY'S CARAMEL CHOO-CHOO.
The caramel-flavoured ice cream is a pale golden colour (not unlike ordinary vanilla flavour), with swirls of soft and creamy caramel surrounding lumps of harder caramel which are covered in chocolate. So, that's caramel ice cream with swirls of soft caramel and lumps of hard caramel. If you don't like caramel, probably best to stop reading right now!
The ice cream part is quite delicately flavoured - not too sickly sweet as caramel can sometimes be, although the swirly, soft stuff is just a little cloying. As for the chocolate lumps, well the chocolate is quite crisp and tasty, and it goes really well with the caramel filling.
In fact...

Vanilla Caramel Drudge
Review of Ben and Jerry's Vanilla Caramel Fudge by
Collingwood21
Advantages: The caramel
Disadvantages: The vanilla ice cream, the price. Where's my fudge?
...Why, oh why do I keep on doing this to myself? Why is it, when rigorous scientific testing has proved that the only flavour of Ben and Jerry's ice cream worth the whopping £4 a tub is Cherry Garcia, do I insist on trying other flavours? Especially after trying the cloying nastiness that was Honey I'm Home? Well folks, last night my desire for ice cream got the better of me and my local shop only had two flavours in stock - this one (vanilla caramel fudge) or the honey nastiness. I was weak. I succumbed. Still, you know what they say - buy ice cream in haste, repent at leisure.
For those of you unfamiliar with the brand - and there can't be many, given the assault Ben and Jerry's have made on our nation's freezers over recent years - let me explain a little. The Ben and Jerry of the title are two aging hippies from Vermont (USA) who...

My threesome with Ben and Jerry
Review of Ben and Jerry's Phish Food by
louiseypees
Advantages: The nicest ice cream in the world
Disadvantages: Fattening...
...usually retails for about £3.99, although there are some places you can get it a little cheaper.
£3.99 may sound pretty expensive for a tub of ice cream which probably won't stick around too long (they rarely do!!), but I personally think Ben and Jerry's is worth every penny. I'd buy the stuff if it cost twice the price!!
I freely admit to being totally addicted to almost every flavour Ben and Jerry's make (apart from the truly disgusting Caramel Chew-Chew - don't even go there!), but I'm afraid Phish Food is my favourite. It is named after the hippy band Phish, who also come from Vermont. I must say, I never thought much of Phish, but they obviously inspired Ben and Jerry no end - this ice cream is divine!! Phish Food is predominantly chocolate ice cream, with nice swirls of marshmallow and caramel in it, and really cute little fish...

Ben & Jerry's Phish Food Stick
Review of Ben & Jerry's Phish Stick by
mints4merlin
Advantages: Unique way of enjoying Phish fodd without being tempted to eat the whole tub
Disadvantages: still quite high in cals per stick and not avaliable in all supermarkets
...content and ignore the calories.
Overall 5 Star rating, I love Ben & Jerry's and I would like to thank them for this opportunity to enjoy ice cream and my favourite flavour without tempted to gorge the whole tub. A smaller serving means I can have less calorie intake and still the pleasure of eating chocolate and marshmallow and caramel ice-cream :) The other thing that really earns its 5 star rating is the original and fun design that means it's less messy to eat than a tub and you can consume it on holidays and on the go. Definitely worth a go but quite hard to find in shops. I buy mine from my Sainsbury's, blockbuster, and know of one local shop which stocks them at about £2.00 each.
Thanks for reading and hope haven't made anyone too hungry. Best wishes, mintz x...

Save the Whirled Ben and Jerry style
Review of Ben & Jerrys One Sweet Whirled by
CareBear
Advantages: Fantastic tasting, quality icecream
Disadvantages: Hard to get out of the tub
...I have this theory. You’re either a B&J lover or a Haagen-Dazs lover (assuming that you like ice-cream). I fall (Bailey’s aside), firmly into the B&J camp.
Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream is one of those products that sells itself by being a little different. From the "don’t you feel sorry for them” histrionics of the company, to the natty flavours and unmistakable tub designs, B&J stand out from the crowd that is the luxury ice-cream market.
One of the things that B&J seem to try to do is to be topical – they launch products with satirical names and often have limited editions backing a cause. One Sweet Whirled falls into this latter category.

Ben & Jerry Fish Food - part II
Review of Ben and Jerry's Phish Food by
proxam
Advantages: Rich and chocolatey
Disadvantages: Too chocolatey
...Anyone who read my recent op on Tetrafin will have come to the conclusion that, although I'm amazingly knowledgeable, I'm hardly an expert on fish food. But, in an ever-increasing thirst to discover the secrets of piscine nutrition, I am always willing do a little research and have been known to devour the slightest morsel of information on the subject.
With this in mind, today I will mostly be reviewing BEN & JERRY'S PHISH FOOD.
Part of the reason for this is that I was challenged by the delicious Yummy87 to write an op - the Bigyummyangel Challenge. The choices were: any ice-cream, advice on high blood pressure, or Babycham.
The choice was obvious.
But as I didn't come across any Babycham in Asda, I thought I'd scoff a tub of calorie-laden cold stuff and hopefully dramatically increase my blood pressure in the process...

Ben and Jerry are Ice Cream gods
Review of Ben and Jerry's Phish Food by
Solex
Advantages: Utterly, utterly delicious
Disadvantages: A bit pricey
...Wahey, welcome to my 100th Ciao opinion! 6 months and still going strong!
I've been a little bit down recently. Loads of work, no girlfriend etc (Sarah01, knows all aboout this). It's been a hard few weeks for me, as I start my GCSE's soon (I'm meant to be revising really!). So as a break I went down to my local Tesco (look, it was near), to go and get some food and stuff my face later on in the day to cheer me up.
What did I buy?
A pizza, loads of chocolate and this, some Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Now I am going to write this op as I make my way down the tub pf ice cream, so can give you the full experience.
The tub - One thing americans have been good at is giving us, good sized tubs of ice cream. For some reason we go for blocks of the stuff, instead the Americans pack their ice cream - to the top - full...

Ben and Jerry's Phish Food Icecream
Review of Ben and Jerry's Phish Food by
Zedex
Advantages: Very chocolaty, vegetarian marshmallows, very rich
Disadvantages: Very easy to eat the whole tub in one go...
...Phish Food is probably my favourite Ben & Jerry's flavour. It comes in a 500ml tub (same size as the Haagen Daaz tubs you get but slightly cheaper) and is £3.99 in Safeways (may be cheaper elsewhere and you can sometimes get it on special offer).
It's called Phish Food because there are little pieces of chocolate fudge in the shape of fish mixed in the icecream.
It's made up of chocolate icecream with those little fish pieces I mentioned and also caramel swirls and marshmallow swirls in it. This is the best bit for me, as a vegetarian for many years I've not eaten marshmallows for years because of their gelatine content. However, this flavour of icecream is suitable for vegetarians. I have to say though, the marshmallows are not quite like I remember marshmallows to be (in that they're not very hard and are quite runny) but you do...

Ben & Jerry's Bohemian Raspberry
Review of Ben & Jerry's Bohemian Raspberry Ice Cream by

Ben & Jerry's
~~~~~~~~~~
Ben & Jerry's ice cream was founded by Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield and has now been brought by Unilever. They met in school and several years later after many unsuccessful and unenjoyed jobs they both attended a $5.00 course in ice cream making and after investing $12,000 they then opened their first 'scoop shop' in a gas station in Burlington, Vermont in 1978. It didn't take long for them to become very popular. Ben had no sense of taste so he relied on what he called 'mouth feel', and big chunks of all sorts of ingredients, especially chocolate became their signature, and it is still is to this day. In 1979 they began selling pints of ice cream out of the side of a VW camper van, they continued to grow and improve throughout the years and have now stand as one of the favourite brands...
The importance of Ben and Jerry
Review of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream and Dessert Book - Ben Cohen & Jerry Greenfield by
MHam
Advantages: Great Recipes
Disadvantages: Very Rich
...Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. Always coming up as one of the favourites in the Ciao challenge ‘favourite ice cream’ question, and I have to admit to being rather partial to a tub myself from time to time. So as my answer to that particular challenge question is ‘the homemade variety’ I was quite pleased when browsing through the recipe section of the bookshop I came across a Ben and Jerry’s recipe book. Fantastic, so for the princely sum of £7.99 the shop let me take it home, and 12 months later I finally got around to trying out some of the recipes and to writing a review.
The book is a good size for browsing it’s a small to medium size paperback book, so none of the struggling to fit it on the shelf, or the kitchen work top when you’re trying to use it, and as you can see from the picture at the top, it’s very brightly covered...
