...My friend and I went to Berlin earlier on this month for a short break to get away from the bad Scottish weather. We were away for three days and four nights and were looking for somewhere cheap but comfortable to stay. We ended up staying at the Holiday Inn Express City Centre West. Cost Cost is always my prime consideration when making any purchase so I was delighted with the price of £27 per person per night for a twin room at the Holiday Inn Express, especially given the poor Euro exchange rate for tourists. This was a special offer from one of the many websites that offers good deals on hotels. The special offer gave 25% off the standard price so the standard price would be £36 per night. Advantages: A magnificent city...too many good things to mention

Advantages: Multicultural mekka, still rather peaceful, friendly people

...that friendliness and helpfulness aren't usually on my list of expectations when I visit a large city. So I had quite a "wow" experience with the folks there. I drove around in a little Ford Ka rental car, which was really quite amazing; to drive from Charlottenburg to Pankow, to see the difference in architecture. One thing that really stood out was the large number of blue collar beer dives that look like something out of the 60's. I almost felt like I was in a time warp. Of course there are the many important historical landmarks, there's Unter den Linden, there's the Art Museum.... I'm sure you can find about those things in any Berlin Guide you pick up. ...the centre of Berlin not suited fine itself with the car there for strange drivers rakes confusing once but this is probably so in most cities now. Car parks are sowed rarely and traffic wardens are eagerly away to distribute tickets I have at least seen quite a lot of this. At long last, it would be well more practically, not to come the car unless there is a car park hotel of his own where one can let the car for the duration of the stay in Berlin. Even with the bus one can come to Berlin: Sound of the information in my guidebook drive from 300 German cities of busses to Berlin. If one comes by bus to Berlin, one usually lands at the radio tower at the central bus station, one can get in the centre with the underground from where. ...I was only in berlin for 1 week, not long enough by half to experience every thing I wanted to. accomadation; I checked into the Circus hostel near the underground station in rosa luxenburg Platz for 1 night when i first arrived but ended up spending the whole week there. Its clean, cheap, safe, the staff are very helpful, it has a nice reception area and a bar where you gat get drinks and a very freindly aptmosphere, also its within easy walking distance of the center in the east. I highly recommend it to budget travellers. Walking Tours: I didn't go on an orginised walking tour untill the middle of my holiday as I don't like being herded like a sheep anywhere but I had heard some good reports.
