Disadvantages: Limited, outdated mapping, not so easy to use

...In our brand new Fiesta, delivered this month, the Blaupunkt TravelPilot comes fitted in a unit combined with the radio. To try this system out, over a period of three weeks, and a total of about 600 miles, entirely within my home county of West Yorkshire, i ran the TravelPilot alongside my own local knowledge of the area built up over 17 years of driving around the area. To enter a destination it is necessary to go through a menu and a series of entries not wholly unlike entering a text message on a mobile phone. There is a form of predictive texting, which can be quite useful. The problem I found, though, was that before I could find the way to, say, Huddersfield Police Station I needed to know what road it is in. Advantages: direct replacement for your old head unit..removable front panel,great sound quality.
Disadvantages: not portable..costs to refit in another car...not a D,I,Y job,...

...,and also a clear easy to read screen,which constantly points you in the right direction ...also the blaupunkt travelpilot shows the time of arrival of your journey,which is very usefull as well as mileage left to go on your trip..counting down as you get nearer to your destination.. The travelpilot is also ideal for finding petrol stations,airports..town centres,places of interest anywhere! it has memory for our favourite/last journeys too! the traffic message channel keeps you informed of any delays ahead,while the sat nav system will reroute your journey to the best possible route! all at the press of a button! YOU CAN AVOID TOLLS IF YOU WISH..not allways possible i'm sure,but nice to have the option ...Both my drivers like the systems,and get on well with them.Even though,i have heard on the odd occastion,that they have got abit confused... Advantages: Cheap and Location
Disadvantages: Not Onsuite and no breakfast

...The Quatro Fontanas or the Fountain Travel Club stayed in this Hotel (perhaps better decribed as Bed Guest House) The first thing it is very cheap in price two nights for Double Room thru Bookings.com would be about £60. You can also see photos of the Rooms on that site) Now I have said it is Cheap and no breakfast ,DONT TURN OFF JUST YET, it does have other attributes. First you have to find the place. We arrived as most do by Train from Pisa where we had flown into. The Airport at Pisa is only 3 miles from the Railway station, then about 35 mins on train to Lucca. You come out of the station at Lucca and are faced with what they call the Meadow. This is a grassy park area that lies outside the WALLS, yes WALLS. ...Ah, holiday memories. We stayed just outside Lucca in a lovely converted farmhouse with a beautiful pool surrounded by olive and oleader trees and stunning views of the mountains. Lucca itself has the beautiful circular Piazza Anfiteatro at its centre, where 4 or 5 storey terracota and yellow painted buildings curve around enclosing you in another world. Cafe tables around the edge let you sit and watch the world go by. The whole city is surrounded by a huge, very wide 16 th century city wall. We hired bicycles and cycled around the tree-lined pathway that runs along the top. From here you can catch glimpses of the narrow little streets within where much of it is pedestrianised, apart from the obligatory mad moped riders! Advantages: Excellent radio both at FM & AM
Disadvantages: Tape player (No CD)

...this blaupunkt car radio has an excellent radio front end at both FM & (mostly) AM! Its ability to receive AM (MW) radio broadcasts with the usual very short FM whip antennas that are commonly found at newer cars, is a real plus! And the sound on AM isn't bad at all. It does have a good AM IF bandwidth filter probably, that allow you to listen good sounded AM stations, with a quality (at least an AM quality that most newer radios doesn't provide for the forgotten ? MW band), while keeping the selectivity needed for first adjacent channel intereference out. A better noise blanker filter, or a faster AGC wil help a little at city terrains where the manmade static noises are higher! For FM the sound is good (take in account the overcompressed FM modulated signals that most stations have now) and its sensitivity is good enough to get... Read review

....caraudiodirect.com. I actually bought the stereo just after Christmas when the New Year Sales had started, as I wanted to ensure that I was getting a good deal (I'm a true bargain hunter!). At that time, there was a plethora of budget-range car stereos on the market - I'd narrowed my choice down to a JVC, Clarion or Blaupunkt – all of whom were offering their single CD radios through websites or car part stores (Halfords and Charlie Browns spring to mind) for around the £100 mark. So what made me choose the Blaupunkt over the other models? In a word: simplicity. Now I don't know about other drivers, but I like a car stereo that's simple. Advantages: Sounds Superb and the price is right.
Disadvantages: Looks like its made from plastacine.

...Summary... It's bottom of their range and it costs £135 (RRP 169 -see below) BUT... It's an extremely good, fully functional RDS radio and CD player It's got 4 x 25Watts of good sounding power (40W MPS) The obligatory Removeable front panel Dual colour display and an Optional remote and most of the trimmings... This is the second Blaupunkt I've owned -the first I sadly sold in another car. And they really are extremely good. I'm not a believer in German efficiency (having worked there!) but Blaupunkt are a stunning example of how to make electronics. The unit i've got always reads ALL of my CD's 1st time(including burnt ones), rarely skips (and I drive a mini), and sounds superb, (I'm an acoustic engineer!) Against it are its plastacine-legoland looks. Very important to the boy racer to have pretty coloured... Read review
