'Aerial' Soars, Ever So Gently
Review of Aerial [Digipak] - Kate Bush by
zerbine28
Advantages: More settled, mature but still with the interesting quirks in music and words.
Disadvantages: 'Mrs Bartolozzi'; 'Nocturn'. Nothing like 'Hounds' or 'Dreaming'; light jazz elements, for some.
...So, was it worth the wait? With 'Aerial', the hotly anticipated new double-CD album of the British maverick and publicity-shy musician, Kate Bush once again surprises her listeners, for ill or good.
A dozen years sans any new Bush album since 'The Red Shoes' would be the longest dry spell for fans, and the occasion of 'Aerial''s release has been warmly celebrated, especially on the other side of the Atlantic. I shan't dwell on Ms Bush's personal events between 1993's 'The Red Shoes' and 'Aerial', which finally went on sale on 7 November 2005. Suffice it to say that Ms Bush's son, Bertie, was born in the interim, a fact you can't miss since he's featured prominently on her latest CD production through his drawings, photographs and a song.
'Aerial' consists of 16 tracks on two CDs that sonically share a close kinship with 'The...

Kate Bush's new Album 'Aerial'
Review of Aerial [Digipak] - Kate Bush by
FlameDruid
Advantages: Deeply poetic, rich musical excellence. It's Kate Bush.
Disadvantages: Not instant music for parties. It wouldn't work. Don't do it.
...Let me begin with a highly relevant link because if you go to it you get the first track and a video to watch as well:
http://www.katebush.com/video/kingofthemountain/
So, I'm in France with a gorgeous girlfriend with Kate warbling, 'Ai ai! Babooshka, Babooshka, yi, yi!' on the jukebox and I'm just having a great 1982. Something of Kate Bush is imprinted and stays with me, and though singles like, 'Cloudbusting,' and albums like 'Red Shoes,' pass me by un-noticed as the years fly by, the mad-eyed girl who sang of 'Wuthering, Wuthering, Wuthering Heights!' never entirely goes away.
She seems to though. For twelve years she's gone. On http://www.white-man-killer.com/kate/ the Webmistress, Sylvia, can be seen opining that Kate Bush is unlikely to tour or make an album again.
She's back now with a new album called, 'Aerial...

Aerial - Kate restored to glory.
Review of Aerial [Digipak] - Kate Bush by
PDS1
Advantages: Recaptures some of the magic of earlier albums
Disadvantages: Perhaps a little quiet for some, after the extremity of earlier work
...mixed feelings when I sat down to listen to Aerial...
First comes the gently hypnotic strains of King of the Mountain - mmm...interesting and (almost) danceable. Yet it's infused with passion and an effective eeriness. The beat almost has a reggae vibe, reminiscent slightly of Kate's version of "Rocket Man" in 1991 - though darker and more powerful. One of the Kate Bush traits, on so many of her records, is to start simply, then build and develop powerfully. King of the Mountain rises to something stronger than I'd first realised, especially with volume.
Then, Pi, with its theme of numbers - proof if any be needed that Ms Bush could infuse even the driest subject with passion if need be. A low pulsing beat is joined enigmatically by intermittent synths, winding together in a curious spiral. Kate's voice is high and unearthly. "Sweet...

Kate Bush returns with the magical Aerial.
Review of Aerial [Digipak] - Kate Bush by
casterbridge
Advantages: Pure Kate Bush- worth the money.
Disadvantages: Some will find it too quirky.
...This is my first ever review, so I chose a subject close to my heart - Kate Bush's music.
Having spent my melancholy teen years accompanied by a Kate Bush soundtrack, I had been disappointed with "The Red Shoes", and longed for the glory days of "Never Forever", "Lionheart" and "The Kick Inside" - those are listed in my order of preference !
From the haunting first track on "Aerial", the upbeat "King of the Mountain", the "King" being Elvis, the album takes on a more mature tone than her earlier works, and my favourite track on CD1, "Mrs. Bartolozzi", is the quirky Kate which people find amazingly innovative or totally bonkers! It is a song seemingly about housework, yet magically soulful when you hear the lilting voice, the music and the underlying sadness in relationships.
Her multi-octave range is evident throughout...

Safety 1st On-the-Go Fold-up Booster Seat
Review of Safety 1st On-the-Go Fold-Up Booster Seat by
FunkyFaulkner
Advantages: Actually two products in one - fantastic value for money
Disadvantages: Bulkier than some travel booster seats but worth it!
...(a.k.a. The Fold and Go Booster Seat)
Silver Winner of the Mother & Baby Best Travel Item 2005/6
I kind of bought this product in error! Well, if I'm honest my brother-in-law bought it for us but I told him where to find it. While pregnant with my daughter, I began to pay attention to all the gadgets and gizmos my friends with children had so I could be one step ahead of the game (ha ha - who was I kidding!?!). I noticed that one of my friends had an inflatable travel seat ('the first years' On-the-go Booster Seat) which she used in restaurants and when visiting friends. It was quite small when folded up (approx 15 cm square by 6 cm deep), which appealed to me as I am always looking for space saving products. It was good but I was not entirely convinced that it was robust enough. Also, it was really hard to clean and always...

Graco Booster Seat
Review of Graco Junior Booster Seat by
Cassybobo
Advantages: Very easy to fit, adjustable arm rests, cup holders, handy as a spare seat.
Disadvantages: Moves when child first gets on to it.
...As a Childminder I needed a lightweight seat that I could install quickly and easily in to my car.
I bought a graco booster seat from my local Halfords store at £15.50 which I think is reasonable as this in my opinion is abetter quality seat than the cheaper polystryene versions.
The Graco booster seat is ideal as it is sturdy enough for children from 4 years up to 10 years, and weight 15kg up to 36kgs.
It was really easy to install as it just sits on the seat and the strap and buckle fit on to your existing seat belt, you can adjust the height of the buckle on the seat belt to prevent the seat belt going on to the child's neck.
it is a solid but comfortable seat with cup holders which are a good idea, no drinks spilled in the car. and the adjustable arm rests are invaluable as you can set them at the right height...

very handy to have - booster seat
Review of First Years Inflatable Booster Seat by
sam_k
Advantages: small to store but very functional
Disadvantages: could be easier to clean
...I have recently purchased this booster seat to take to friends/relatives houses and also for eating out as not everywhere we go either has high chairs or has enough high chairs.
It has a soft padded insert in in addition to the inflatable portion in the seat part whcih makes it a reasonable height allowing my son to reach the table well.
It has one strap to go under the chair and one strap to go round the back of the chair, my son is quite a wriggler so I have made sure he is pushed right up to the table though I don't think he could escape!!
The material on the internal part of the seat could be easier to clean but I didn't have any trouble wiping the spilled food!!
One of the biggest advantages of this booster seat is it's size for storage, it is easy to pop under the buggy if going out or leaving in the boot of the car...

Which Booster Seat to Choose
Review of Safety 1st Fold Up Booster Seat by
Katie-Jane
Advantages: Sturdy, Easily Assembled, Easy to Clean
Disadvantages: Some holes where food falls into for thorough clean you have to take apart
...We needed a booster seat as we were attending a Wedding with our 14mth old daughter. They did not have any highchairs available and we didn't feel it was suitable to use the pushchair or take our big highchair so we decided to find a portable option.
After looking at the makes available (including a new design that you just inflate!) we decided on the Safety First Booster Seat.
It is brightly coloured(green/blue/red/yellow)so appealing to children, and sits on top of any chair with a back. It come in 3 pieces which are easy to assemble together so that you have a back and sides and an detatchable tray. There are straps to secure the seat to the chair and a harness to ensure the child can't climb out (although it is a nice snug fit with the tray on they definately wouldn't be able to climb out then).
To fit the seat you pass...

Free Ram Booster
Review of Microsoft RamBooster by
Bigbaz
Advantages: Speeds up your Pc
Disadvantages: None that I have found
...Does your PC have the Monday morning blues, is it sluggish and cannot be cajoled into life then RamBooster could be the answer for you.
Each program that you start including your operating system consumes a large amount of Ram and soon the demands from your Pc can exceed the amount of Ram available which can make your programs run slowly or not at all and this is where this utility comes in.
The program monitors the amount of Ram that your computer is using and then allows you at the click of a button to free up Ram as and when you need it, so speeding up your programs or you can set it to optimise the amount of ram available automatically.
RamBooster is available as a free download from:-
www.sci.fi/~borg/rambooster
The download time is about 3 minutes and the installation is simple.
Its well worth a try. Baz...

Have booster seat, will travel
Review of Safety 1st Fold Up Booster Seat by
Beccabuttons
Advantages: Easily portable
Disadvantages: Fiddly to clean
...food-redistribution session (I mean feed!). You have to partly disassemble the chair to do it. The tray, however, is no problem to wash and you can always just clean the rest of the chair weekly.
I used this sort of seat for my daughter from 6 months (it helps if your child can sit upright unaided before you use this).
Apart from the space-saving factor, the booster seat's most brilliant advantage is the travel factor.
It folds down really easily to a small size and is perfect for travelling with. In fact, it's so small and light you could even take it with you if you don't have a car. As anyone with a traditional high-chair knows, this is a real plus....
