Cross with Brent Cross
Review of Brent Cross (London) by
mrpaella
Advantages: Free parking
Disadvantages: Out of fashion shopping mall
...INTRODUCTION
Brent Cross Shopping Centre was one of the first shopping malls to be built in the UK. It was opened in 1973.
Brent Cross is archaic compared to modern shopping centres such as Bluewater and Lakeside Thurrock.
The shopping centre is situated in Northwest London.
BRENT CROSS AND ME
From the mid 1970s to the early 1980s my parents and I regularly visited my uncle in East London.
We combined almost every trip with a visit to Brent Cross.
Most of the time I had nothing to buy so I simply followed my parents like a bored teenager.
In 1980 my school gave me some book vouchers as a reward for running the school tuck shop. I spent these vouchers in WH Smith at Brent Cross.
In 1987 I took my mother to Brent Cross via tube. My father was in India at the time attending his brother’s wedding...

Brent Cross Shopping Centre
Review of Brent Cross (London) by
zainabm
Advantages: 120 shops and restaurants, clean, all under one roof, free parking (for now!), easy to get to
Disadvantages: can get crowded
...Well this is my local shopping centre so should give it a review…
Brent Cross Shopping Centre is located in North West London, close to Staples Corner. It is easily accessible by car, train or bus. Currently car parking (for 6500 cars) is free but they may start to charge (plans are £1 for up to 2 hours stay, £2 for up to 3 hours stay and so on, so not too bad).
Brent Cross Shopping Centre was opened in 1976 and was the first enclosed shopping centre to be built in the UK. It started out with 75 shops. With expansions in 1995, including a multi storey car park, it now has about 120 shops and cafes. Some of the original retailers which are still there include; John Lewis, Fenwick, WH Smith, Mothercare and Russell & Bromley. In 2002 it became a non-smoking area. The toilets have recently been refurbished and kept nice and clean...

I hate Brent Cross
Review of Brent Cross (London) by
LorraineM
Advantages: Shops
Disadvantages: Hot, Dirty
...I live a ten minute drive away from Brent Cross and I hate it, why? It is crowded, dirty noisy and has none of the large spaces, coffe shops, etc that make some other shopping centres nice to visit.
Yes, it has the high street giants, but that is about it, you wil not find smaller more independent shops, nor will you find relaxing shopping.
I would rather go to the Weat End as there at laest is more space there.
Brent Cross lacks facilities and most of all it is dirty....

Kane & Lynch: Drop Dead Gorgeous!
Review of Kane And Lynch: Dead Men (PS3) by
JoeyLemons
Advantages: Excellent storyline, superb characters, witty dialogue, dark humour!
Disadvantages: Online Play rarely works for me
...Kane & Lynch is a game that has received rather mixed reviews amongst fans, I however got a very one sided impression of the game!
Kane & Lynch (from the makers of the Hitman series) follows the trials and tribulations of the notorious pair as they go on a mission for survival and revenge leaving havoc in their wake (not to mention a fair few bodies).
The characters are highly likable with dark-yet-hilarious humour opposed by less slick, more gritty sentiments. The development of the storyline is excellent and builds towards one of the most respectable endings I've seen in any game. The levels are well laid out and the shooting even feels good (one complaint I read about the game was referring to the shooting however I felt it was one of the more realistic shooters)!
I hope we get to see a sequel to this arguable masterpiece...

Kane and Lynch: Dead men.
Review of Kane And Lynch: Dead Men (PS3) by
wee_generation
Advantages: Gritty, starts off promising, good set pieces.
Disadvantages: bad controls, get repetative, story is to hectic.
...Kane & Lynch, what can i say about this title? well, you either love it or you hate it. It's that simple. You play the part of Kane a man standing of the destruction of his own life trying as hard as he might to salvage what he can. By his side, or on his case rather is Lynch, a psychotic madman who is a much of a hinder as he is a help. He's there to keep check on Kane as he fulfills one last mission in the vein attempt his previous boss's don't tear him or his family apart.
Game play wise, it's fairly basic stuff in that you run, shoot, collect ammo and repeat. It has some lovely set pieces that see you attempting bank jobs and prison breaks and this is the part of the game thats full of the "did you see that!?!" factor but then it strays away from this and you end up taking you characters hundreds of miles across seas and into war...

Shoppers Paradise or Nightmare Before Christmas?
Review of Brent Cross (London) by
Tempus_Fugit
Advantages: plenty of shops for the young and hip, designer clothes, department stores
Disadvantages: crowed, expensive, unattractive concrete block, murder to get in and out by car
...I've been shopping at Brent Cross for the best part of 16 years but over the past years, mainly since the refurbishment a number of years back, I'm less inclined to visit. I will explain later in my review. It's not the most attractive building in the world, in fact it's a concrete monstrosity and not very pleasing on the eye - at least not from the outside.
*** Opening Hours ***
Brent Cross shopping centre is always busy regardless of time of year but there's a time when shopping here is almost impossible, just like almost anywhere in the country - the weeks before Christmas. If you can avoid it don't go, if you must then try either weekdays and/or late evenings. Brent Cross Shopping Centre is open Monday - Friday 10am - 8pm, Saturday 9am - 7pm and Sunday 12noon - 6pm (with some stores open half an hour early for browsing...

X marks the spot
Review of Brent Cross (London) by
MitchellandAimeesMum
Advantages: High street shops under one roof
Disadvantages: Not enough parking, can get very crowded
...The last time I went to Brent Cross they were rebuilding the back bit by John Lewis and that was some time ago and they still have not got the parking right!
There are three levels, Lower Mall, Upper Mall and Level 3.
*~*LOWER MALL*~*
Houses some of the major department stores, Boots, Fenwick, John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, H&M, Waitrose and WH Smith.
Fenwick, John Lewis and Marks & Spencer have shop parts on the upper level as well so you can go in on one level and come out on another. There are toilets and entrances to the carparks on most floors. The walkways are wide enough so that even when its crowded you can walk with ease from shop to shop.
Situated at each end of this mall there are coffee shops, at the Fenwick end is Costa Coffee and at the John Lewis end is Starbucks.
*~*UPPER MALL*~*
On this level you...

Approved Text for Professional Qualifications
Review of Foulks Lynch ACCA Study Text by
kelr101
Advantages: Clear explanations, Worked Examples, Key Points
Disadvantages: More expensive than other competitors
...Kaplan Publishing Foulks Lynch is an established leading provider of Accountancy and Finance training materials. There aim is to provide students with high quality professional study material, which is essential for passing such professional examinations, in order to achieve their educational and career goals. It is no wonder then that Foulks Lynch is the recommended publisher for ACCA (Association of Chartered and Certified Accounts).
Having recently changed course material from BPP publishing to Foulks Lynch I was keen to commence studying for my next set of exams using their material. The study texts I chose are available from the Foulks Lynch website, www.kaplanfoulkslynch.co.uk, and whilst they don't exclusively provide material for ACCA (covering CIMA, AAT and others in addition); I was assured of their reputation for high...

RMS TITANIC RIP
Review of Titanic - An Illustrated History - Don Lynch by
RICHADA
Advantages: Superb Illustrations. Definitive Text. My Favourite - if not the Best Book on this Subject.
Disadvantages: A Slightly Predictable Read!
...a decade later.
Once again, a fascinating book, but not one that is appropriate to review here as a mark of respect to those lost that night.
More colourful, much larger - and packed with photographs and superb paintings by Ken Marschall, I present you (at last!) with the subject of this review:
"Titanic An Illustrated History"
A WEIGHTY TOME INDEED
This is a very large 228 page coffee table style book - weighing in at a not inconsiderable 2.06kg (yes I just weighed it!) and is 310mm x 290mm. If, like me, you are not a body builder then you may well need a stand for this book - or indeed to read it on the floor as I am apt to do!
It may be a heavy book in the literal sense, but in the literary one it is far from it. Don Lynch, the author, has an authoritative but fairly easy going writing style that means that you tend...

David Brent - the legend
Review of Top 10 Quotations by
Benniash
Advantages: Hilarious!
Disadvantages: ...not as good as on the TV!
...The hit TV series 'The Office' is based around David Brent (Ricky Gervais) who is the boss at Wernham Hogg, a paper-merchant branch in Slough. Anyone who's seen and loved his cringe worthy antics won't be disappointed by my favourite top ten Brent quotes from the first two series (in no particular order):
1 - “Life is just a series of peaks and troughs. And you don’t know whether you’re in a trough until you’re climbing out, or on a peak until you’re coming down. And that’s it you know, you never know what’s round the corner. But it’s all good. ‘If you want the rainbow, you’ve gotta put up with the rain.’ Do you know which philosopher said that? Dolly Parton. And people say she’s just a big pair of tits.”
2 - “This is the accounts department, the number bods. Do not be fooled by their job descriptions, they are absolutely mad, all...
