The Place 2 go If you're In Broadway
Review of Broadway Hotel, Broadway by
DixieChick10
Advantages: Good hotel, Value 4 money, nice rooms.
Disadvantages: None
...I've worked at the hotel for three years nearly and I can say It's a really good hotel.
It's situated in the middle of Broadway which is in the middle of the Cotswolds, it's a perfect place to stay if you're a walker and walking the Cotswolds or if you're just visiting all the lovely shops for a couple of days, The Broadway Hotel is the place to go.
The building has looked the same since 1772 but has been there since 1575 and fits in perfectly with the village.
In my opinion the hotel is not really made for kids as the village in itself doesn't have anything fun for children to do. There's a park and an ice cream stand, which is about the extent of the things for kids to do around here, however it's a perfect place for tourists and adults love it.
When you get to the hotel you're greeted by the receptionist and helped...

Broadway in a new way
Review of Linda Eder - My Way Broadway by
musicalmuppa
Advantages: A number of good songs, and interesting and inspiring versions of old classics
Disadvantages: There are a few songs that just pass you by without you really noticing
...CD: Broadway My Way
Artist: Linda Eder
Label: Atlantic
Price: aprox £18.49 - cheapest is to order via amazon.com marketplace, where at time of writing it costs new $8 + postage $6.89 = £7.50
Brief description: A compilation of Broadway tunes by the singer Linda Eder, most famous for creating the role of Lucy in the musical Jekyll & Hyde.
There are innumerous collections of Broadway music out there, of varying quality. This is one that stands out and makes a point. On Broadway My Way Lina Eder does present a number of famous, and some less well known, show tunes in her own way.
Eder has in many of the recordings taken the music from it's original setting and given it a new musical context. If, for no other reason (and there are other reasons) than the jazz transcription of On The Street Were You Live (My Fair Lady) and the folk...

Travel Inn Style
Review of Travel Inn Manhattan, New York City by
KELLYLOUJ
Advantages: Convenient Location, Reasonable Costs, Clean
Disadvantages: No in house restaurant
...As I prepare for my trip to New York this upcoming week I decided to review the previous hotel that I stayed in for a long weekend in November back in 2003, The Travel Inn.
I was not originally meant to be staying at the Travel Inn as I had booked the four of us into the Hotel Newton which was located on 2528 Broadway and had a 1 star rating and at the time I did not realise how far this hotel was located from the Times Square area, and on arrival we were all beginning to worry about the distance to all the tourist facilities. On this occasion we were lucky, due to problems with existing guests we arrived at the hotel to check-in only to be told that there was no room and we were being transferred to a better hotel in a better location......BRILLIANT!!
The Travel Inn was our next location and the Hotel Newton even paid for us...

The ultimate (?) Broadway dictionary
Review of Ultimate Broadway Fake Book - Hal Leonard Corp by
musicalmuppa
Advantages: An enormous amount of songs easy to find through several search indexes
Disadvantages: An enormous amount of songs easy to find through several search indexes
...Product: Ultimate Broadway Fake Book
Setting: Vocal line with chords - spiral binding
Composer: Just about anyone you can think of in musical theatre!
Published by: Hal Leonard Music Publishing
Price: RRP £23 - Cheapest at time of writing on amazon.co.u - marketplace for £17.19
Other: Promises over 700 tunes from over 240 shows from Broadway
This book has within a few months become a vital instrument in my everyday musical life. As I work a lot with musical theatre, both as a singer and an arranger of choir music, this is the book I’ve been looking for for ages: it works like a dictionary for almost all the musical theatre music I can think of.
The layout of the book is in the simple, clear fake-book style, with melody line and chords. The spiral binding makes the book easy to use despite that it is so thick (around 700 pages...

Broadway Nightmare
Review of Broadway Hotel, Blackpool by
bankievisitor
Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: Not for the faint hearted, needs a good clean
...I visited the Broadway Hotel in October 2007, and was very disappointed with the standards of accomidation in which the Broadway Hotel had to offer. I have never stayed in such a dirty and poorly presented Hotel, in all the years in which I have visited Blackpool. The rooms were fair, but in 5 days of staying, the toilet was not cleaned, the bins were not emptied and at no time was the rooms or beds freshened. The owner had a dog which sat on all the furniture in the lounge, and obviously had fleas, and the management would eagerly accomidate elderly bus tours, before any other customers. They would not cater for children unless you specifically asked them, as a child menu was not offered, unless you specified it, as they felt it was acceptable to give an 18 month old baby a pork chop for dinner, bone included, and they seldom cleaned...

Broadway doesn't always mean great!
Review of Rocky Horror Show, The - New Broadway Cast by
tigerbabe68
Advantages: First Broadway Rocky since the early 80s
Disadvantages: Only really for collectors, acquired taste
...I was lucky enough to see this production with this cast on Broadway - I say lucky in that many Brits wouldn't have got that chance and because I saw it for free. However, if I had had to pay the $80 or something the tickets were selling for, I'd have been very disappointed indeed. I am also reviewing from a promotional only copy, which I believe is simply a pre-release rather than markedly changed as it contains the same cast. I also got it free!
The album contains all the regular stage show songs, including Once In A While, with the occasional introductory speech before a song.
This would not be an album I would recommend to those who have never heard either the Picture Show album or the Roxy Cast album as the songs are treated somewhat differently and might put you off the stage version in the UK if you hadn't already heard...

Be a BROADWAY BABY in the BIG APPLE!!
Review of Theater District, New York by
MarcoG
Advantages: Tips on getting tickets. Wonderful city, full of life...AND THEATRES
Disadvantages: Can be VERY busy, as well as pricey!!
...definately worth checking before you get there - so you don't end up being there on day that you want to see a show, only to find that the only thing Broadway has on that day is some random off-broadway tribute to Sooty!!
HOW ELSE CAN I GET TICKETS??
If you want to leave it until you get there - and add a nice element of surprise to your travels in a oh-my-golly-gum-drops-I'm-so-excited-which-show-shall-I-see-today styley, you can get tickets for same day shows at the TKTS booth on TIMES SQUARE (you can't miss it, it's opposite the PALACE THEATRE, but if you can't find it, maybe you forgot to bring your glasses, so best to ask someone who should be able to point you in the right direction), which is practically the same (but bigger - as everything tends to be in America) as the TKTS booth in Leicester Square (in London, formerly known...

Thomson Spirit - Med Renaissance - excellent
Review of Thomson Travel - Mediterranean Cruise by
chrissie-anne
Advantages: Great food, great ports of call, excellent customer service
Disadvantages: Having to come home again
...I was away on my first ever cruise in the first week in May - Mediterranean Renaissance on the Thomson Spirit. It was a 50th birthday surprise for my mum. Booked it online through the Thomson website and got a free all inclusive upgrade. We had an outside cabin on deck one and flights from Glasgow - came in at around £1500. We were both quite excited but a little nervous about it. We had been on a mini cruise previously and had heard good things about Thomson cruises.
You get your tickets around two weeks before travel as part of an information booklet which gives you examples of excursions and tells you a bit about life on board. You can opt for requesting a particular cabin, or champagne on arrival as well as other things. You get luggage labels also.
Itinerary
Palma, Villefranche (Nice and Monte Carlo), Livorno (Florence...
