Flying between London and Bucharest.
Review of Romanian National Airlines - TAROM by mscates

Advantages: Good service, reliable
Disadvantages: only 1 direct flight per day between london and bucharest.

...This is a review on the flight between the journey from London to bucharest using Tarom Airlines. The flight is from Heathrow airport terminal 2 to Otopeni airport. When you arrive at Heathrow airport if you need to pick up tickets for Tarom airlines then you go to the Luftansea ticket desk as Tarom does not have its own ticket desk at Heathrow. The checkin at terminal 2 has two different ques for the Tarom flight to bucharest and the flight number is RO392. One que is for business customers and the other is for normal customers. Aftre this you need to go through security. Make sure you remember the new rules on liquids in hand luggage. No liquids over 100ml or containers over 100ml. Once you have gone through security you need to go into departures lounge and finally you will board the plane. Tarom have one flight from London... Read review

Romanian's greatest treasure!
Review of Palace of Parliament (Palatul Poporului), Bucharest by Theconqueror

Advantages: Impressive and magnificent building ETC, ETC, ETC,.......
Disadvantages: It doesn't have disadvantages.

...Great things asked always great sacrifices. These are the rules of our world. Some peoples try to create something without thinking to the consequences. The same thing happened in Romania. Everything started in 1977 when Romania was almost ruined by a earthquake and in Bucharest a part of a district called "Dealu Spirii" was destroyed. N. Ceausescu, Romanian's ruler at that time saw in that event his only chance to build something grandiose in the middle of the city, something which can show to the next generations that he was "the father of the country" so using the pretext of the earthquake he started to demolish all the buildings which still remained after the calamity. A lot of monasteries and churches were removed and peoples were forced to left their houses even if they were in good shapes or not. In 1984... Read review

Survival in Bucharest
Review of Bucharest (Romania) by damo1980

Advantages: A very different experience, cheap prices, glorious history
Disadvantages: Poverty, re-building, poor road conditions

...After visiting Romania six times I have picked up some survival tips along the way. I hope this advice helps anyone planning to travel to Bucharest (Romania)? After the initial shock of arriving in this new country and not knowing whether the natives are friendly, I started to discover some of the cities best kept secrets. These secrets have made my time here surprising, enjoyable, and unforgettable. Firstly the things you need to know; Romania is in the Eastern European time zone (GMT +2hours). When you arrive in Bucharest do not catch a taxi on the side of the road always order on the phone or ask a receptionist/waiter to order for you, they will probably rip you off if you don't. Never keep your belongings in a place which is easily accessible, there are many pick-pockets here always be overly cautious! You may see outside... Read review

Cismigiu Gardens, Romania, Bucharest
Review of Cismigiu Gardens, Bucharest by innocent_girl

Advantages: free, easy access, great park for relaxation and for people in love
Disadvantages: not many private places

...Whenever you need a bit of relaxation, or you are a teenager and you feel like you want to escape from everyone and everything....when you need a moment of peace with your boyfriend/girlfriend, one of the best choices to visit in Bucharest are the Cismigiu Gardens. It is a very beautiful place, pretty big and with lots of interesting parts, such as rare flowers, waterfalls, caves, a lake on which you can rent a boat and sit in it and look at the beautiful sky and thank God that you were born. If you love chess, you can be sure that at any time and at any hour you can find at least 30 people playing chess in the area that was meant for them. There is a part in the Cismigiu Gardens in which you think you are up on a mountain... you can hear the waterfall...the stone makes you feel like someone very lucky to be there...all you have to do... My Must See Places
Review of Bucharest (Romania) by damo1980

Advantages: Very different, low prices, many places of interest
Disadvantages: Confusing Money

...The city of Bucharest maybe behind the times compared to the west but this is what makes Bucharest magical. In Romanian, the word "bucurie" means "joy" and the city has had this name since 1459 after Prince Vlad Tepes changed it from its original name Citadel of Dambovita. Bucharest was officially named the capital of Romania in 1872 gradually becoming the economic and industrial centre. Bucharest greets its visitors with many beautiful areas both modern and historical, from churches decorated with yellow stone angels to peaceful lakes surrounded by parkland. I have comprised a list of my favorite places to visit to help you plan your perfect day out in the city:- The Palace of Parliament (Palatul Parlamentului) is a gigantic building in the middle of the city, probably the most famous in Romania. It was built buy the former... Read review

Pure Jackson genius!!!
Review of Michael Jackson - Live In Bucharest - The Dangerous Tour DVD by theskysthelimit

Advantages: Good length, good picture, good sound, good music!
Disadvantages: annoying crowd "passing out shots" (although funny!) No special features

...the best seat in the house on this DVD, and when you see how far back the crowd goes, youll be glad you have the view you have!!!! One lame point is that the DVD has no special features or "backstage" passes to see what went on behind the scenes of the tour, or indeed the Bucharest concert - that would have been interesting. Once again, amazing performances, the likes of Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal and Thriller, all re-created to perfection. A downside being that no "Dangerous" was performed - would have been a nice close to the tour. On the whole I think the performance is superb, minus the arkward crowd delays and performance breaks and the lackage of special features, the DVD really puts you in front row centre stage at one of the best Jackson concerts yet! It's impressive and proves the quality of entertainment he can produce. All... Read review

Palace of the Parliament (House of People)
Review of Palace of Parliament (Palatul Poporului), Bucharest by sambadi

Advantages: easy access
Disadvantages: lot to walk

...of Bucharest. The largest room, the Sala Unirii (Unification Hall), has a sliding ceiling wide enough for a helicopter, should the need arise. The hall's 14 ton carpet was woven on the premises with machines designed specifically for the purpose. Some 3,500 tons of crystal were used for the building's chandeliers, few of which have ever been fully lit. The heftiest is that in the small parliament hall, which weighs three tons and makes use of over 7,000 bulbs. After the 1989 revolution there were plans to blow the building up, but the cost of explosives proved prohibitive. To join a tour, you need to use the entrance on the left-hand side of the palace (if you're looking at it front-on). Izvor is probably the nearest metro station, but you'll get a better view from Piata Unirii. Admission costs 20 lei noi for foreign visitors, with an additional fee... Read review

Werewolf of a movie! (Or is it)?
Review of Blood And Chocolate DVD by ralfschumacher

Advantages: Good acting from main actress, Soundtrack was OK, nice settings.
Disadvantages: Terrible acting from Oliver Martinez, low budget

...Okay this is not the best werewolf movie I have ever seen but I thought it had a good artistic quality to it and was something a little different to most of the werewolf movies out at the moment or werewolf movies I have seen before. It didn't do to well at the box office but I think the main reason for that was because the trailers were promoting it as a werewolf action movie, where in my opinion it was more of a Romeo and Juliet type love story with some action scenes in it. Also from what I've heard the movie is based on a novel of the same name bu has obviously been changed in parts. The film is set in the beautiful city of Bucharest, Romania where one of the last remaining wolf packs survives. One of them is a young werewolf named Vivian (Agnes Bruckner) who is trying to live a normal life by working in a chocolate shop. One day... Read review

Taraf de Haidouks - Band of Gypsies
Review of Band Of Gypsies [Digipak] - Taraf De Haidouks by dangaroo

Advantages: Fast, lively, talented, rare sounds
Disadvantages: None that I can think of except it might be difficult to understand lyrics

...Firstly a little bit about the band as I notice there is a distinct lack of reviews about them. Taraf de Haidouks are the Buena Vista Social Club of Europe, they're unbelievably talented musicians from a small village in Romania. The band line-up changes and they are forever willing to experiment with other musicians. Having been to a few live concerts of them myself, I can say that they are very open, friendly, talented and create a vigour and excitement about the crowd that can rarely be compared. Now on to the album - Band of Gypsies was recorded in Bucharest in the year 2000, it was the 4th album put out by Taraf De Haidouks, looking to integrate other Balkan styles they invited Kocani Orkestar (from Macedonia), Filip Simeonov a clarinet player from Bulgaria and percussionist Tarik Tuysuzoglu from Turkey to play alongside them... My time in Romania
Review of General: Romania by harperdude

Advantages: Culture, People, Scenery, Cities, Difference to the UK
Disadvantages: Food - if you don't like difference, Travel - 5.5 hours by road from Bucharest to Sibiu!

...Food - if you don't like difference, Travel - 5.5 hours by road! I went to Romania between the 25th of October and the 2 of November 2006, after been invited on a school exchange there. I am writing to portray my experience of Romania (Sibiu to be more specific) First of all of the places mentioned in this review are in the vicinity of Sibiu which is in the centre of Romania (Apart from Bucharest which is around 300km to the south of Sibiu but still in Romania) now we need an introduction to Romania, Transylvania and Sibiu; here we go… Romania: In my opinion Romania has got majestic castles, medieval towns, great hiking and wildlife, and of course cheap skiing. If you go to Romania you will be floored at how different the country is from the UK and other more western countries, the culture, food, scenery, money and language are all... Read review
