Shell Fuel Garage - Burton-On-Trent
Review of Shell Fuel Garage Burton on Trent by
Hsaxo
Advantages: Friendly Staff, Good Range of Fuels

...Shell Fuel Garage - Burton on Trent
What is Shell…?
They are a large fuel producing company which includes oil, gas, petrol and diesel, this company has many filling stations across the country and also in other countries too. They are well known for producing the 99octane V-Power and also V-Power diesel which is advertised as Ferrari fuel for the roads. This is probably because Shell sponsors Ferrari so they often help give Ferrari advertising.
Shell are one of the leading companies in fuel supplying and I definitely trust them to do provide the best fuels for my cars and also to help improve the environment with improving their fuels to be more environmentally friendly.
Shell also have a really useful website with lots of information about what they provide and other things they are part of including environment...

A38 Southbound
Review of Travelodge Burton A38 Southbound, Burton upon Trent by
Ruthiejane
Advantages: Convienient
Disadvantages: Few staff available
...This Travelodge is on the A38 near Burton, between Derby and Birmingham. It is probably closer to Swadlincote than to Burton-on-Trent. We booked online several months in advance and paid only £29 for a double room. We did not check-in until almost midnight as this was a one night stop to avoid a long drive home after a party. The only member of staff present that late a night was a girl in her late teens. She did not remove her earphones to serve us, but did quickly find our reservation and ask if there was anything else we needed. There was a vending machine with crisps, chocolate, toothpaste, and canned drinks in the lobby.
The room had the usual shower over a bath. There were towels provided as well as a small bar of soap, and plastic "glasses". We had a double room, which has one double bed, and a sofa bed...

A Weekend Away
Review of Three Queens Hotel, Burton upon Trent by
lona
Advantages: Great value for a short stay
Disadvantages: Better air conditioning
...I spent a Saturday overnight stay at this hotel and would like to say it was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had recently.
Burton on Trent is not what I would say a really beautiful town (sorry to all you folk who live there). We were just passing through on our way south so it seemed a nice half way stop. My hubby used to work for Bass so he had stayed there many times in the past.
PRICE........................
A double room with breakfast costs £65 at weekends or £75 for an executive room. Dinner bed and breakfast costs £42.50 per person or £47.50 for an executive room. We decided on the executive room as it had air conditioning and a king sized bed.
AMBIENCE.............................
The Hotel had a fair sized car park and a nice entrance, very bright and welcoming. The staff was very pleasant...

Severn Trent - the water purer than the company
Review of Severn Trent Water by
makro74
Advantages: Clean drinking water, in some areas fluoride water
Disadvantages: Monopoly, no alternative supplier, profits before people
...Severn Trent Water is one of ten privatised water companies supplying water in the UK. It was was the Water Act of 1973 which created Severn Trent from the amalgamation of at least 25 publc authorities incuding Birmingham and Nottingham water boards. It supplies water to 8 million plus people and is regulated by OFWAT.
In 2005, it was ordered to repay £4m back to customers for over-charging. Further fraud investigations and fraud allegations and substantial fines have followed.
The company showed its better side when during the floods of 2007, it actively placed bowsers, in local areas. It currently operates 11 resevoirs.
It employs over 12000 people and a turnover of £1.48billon, netting £269 million as after tax profits.
However, like the figures above suggest, obscene amount of money is made by the company, yet...

Nottingham Trent University
Review of Nottingham Trent University by
carl.mcqueen
Advantages: Great Uni. Fact!
Disadvantages: Disadvantages?!
...So, having just finished at Nottingham Trent University it made perfect sense to make this brief review on the place...trust me if I reviewed every aspect of life here that I've experienced it would equate to the length of War & Peace!
Trent is officially the leading "new" university in the country and is predominantly a city-based campus, with two other campuses located at Clifton (about 5 miles south of the city) and Brackenhurst (a very rural campus based to the north-east). I spend three years there and had an awesome time.
In my first year I was based at the Simpsons Halls of Residence, which are in the Lenton area of Nottingham. Although not the nicest area of the city, the halls were certainly some of the best. Having had coursemates and friends who were located at other halls such as Hampden and Sandby which are much closer...

Trent Barton - A Real Mixed Bag
Review of Trent-Barton Buses by
musicmaker2904
Advantages: Polite Drivers, relatively new buses
Disadvantages: poor punctuality, low customer care, VERY expensive
...I live on the outskirts of Nottingham and, as i have no car, busses are often the only way I can get around. The ONLY bus service that operates through my area is Trent Barton (the rainbow 4 service and the 15, 18/32 and commuter express services).
It is fair to say that travelling with Trent Barton is like playing the lottery, if you get lucky things are very good....but if you aren't lucky it can be really frustrating. For example, here's a little itinery of two days this week when I used Trent Barton.
DAY ONE
Arrive at the bus stop five minutes before the bus is due. Having waited fifteen minutes two busses arrive at once, I wave the bus down and the ask the driver for my fare, he utters not a word, gives me a ticket and change. The bus is full and I am forced to stand for the entire journey, it is also unbearably hot...

My Next Porter Call...
Review of Burton Bridge Porter by
tange
Advantages: A good example of a Porter. Nice colour and consistent quality.
Disadvantages: Not as rich or flavoursome as some beers. Porters are often hard to find (and not just at Railway stations!).
...Last night we went to a CAMRA meeting at The Derby Tup ~ one of Chesterfield’s most famous Real Ale pubs. We tried one or two beers but also opted for an old favourite. Being quite partial to Milds, Stouts and Porters, we settled on a beer we had enjoyed before ~ Burton Bridge Porter.
The Burton Brewery, located on Bridge Street in Burton on Trent Staffordshire, began brewing in 1982 ~ June to be precise! The brewery was founded by Bruce Wilkinson and Geoff Mumford, who were employees of Allied Breweries. Burton Bridge own four pubs in Burton (The Burton Bridge Inn, The Prince Alfred, The Great Northern and The Devonshire) and I have had some excellent beer in at least three of them (I haven’t been in The Great Northern). They also supply around 300 other outlets ~ we get their beers as Guest Ales (in pubs like Wetherspoons...

Stoke-on-Trent and its 5 towns come and see us
Review of Getting Around in Stoke on Trent by
dreamscancometrue
Advantages: Taxi, bus and rail service all excellant
Disadvantages: A 500 road works
...Well where do I start,
Stoke-on-Trent, with its pottery industry 5 towns, both past and present, The Birth place of Robbie Williams, its connections with the legendary Sir Stanley Mathews and Famous Master Potter Josiah Wedgewood.
If arriving in Stoke-on-Trent via train, you would probably arrive at Stoke train station itself, outside of the station there is a Taxi service (North Staff/Eagle)(lucky Seven)(knights) and (Sids Taxi's) are all very reliable and reasonably priced, The local bus service( First Stop) operate on a regular basis, there is also independent smaller bus companies as well.
If wanting to use any of the local collages they are all in short walking distance of the train station, on exiting the station turn right, take your first left, and you will find Stoke-on-Trent on your right hand side.
If you want Stoke...

Rockin right across the Trent
Review of 96.2 Trent FM by
victoriahc
Advantages: good music
Disadvantages: adverts!
...I think I may be the only one around here who actually enjoys Trent FM. When I first arrived in Nottingham, it was the only radio station that I could find on my tuner which was clear, and it hasn't moved since. Trent FM offers a great range of popular music, from Westlife and other cheesey pop, to the golden oldies, to soft rock and indie.
The only fault that I can find with Trent is the adverts. Yes, they are annoying, but I have found that I generally tune out when they do come on, waiting for the music to begin again. However I think I am probably used to it, as at home I always listened to the best commercial radio station Capital FM. OK, whilst I'm on the subject, another annoying thing is when they insist on playing the same few adverts on every commercial break, but I find that shouting at the radio to shut up usually helps...

We don't all use the word "Duck" you know
Review of Stoke on Trent in General by
blondgem
Advantages: not a bad place to live
Disadvantages: -
...in this area, Burslem has a small square with very few well know shops. Again we have the smaller supermarket, with an Asda recently opening in the area.
- Hanley -
The biggest of Stoke on Trent's shopping area's, Hanley houses the Potteries Centre, a huge centre that has three stories with many of the well known shops including: NEXT, HMV, WH SMITH, Gap, River Island, Debenhams, Principles, Burtons, Top Man / Top Shop, Morgan, Jane NOrman, Oasis, Dolcis, FCUK and many many more. It has a suurounding area with plenty of outdoor shops and food places including: Boots, Woolworths, M&S, BHS, Ann SUmmers, various well known card shops, travel agent and bank and nuilding societies. This is by far the main town within the city.
- Festival Park -
This is a retail park that houses supermarkets including Morrisons, various electrical outlets...
