...CHICAGO ROCK CAFÉ - SWANSEA There's a little club in the town near me and I won't go anywhere else! A lot of people will disagree with my opinion, but to me this venue offers so much. I have been going to this club regularly since it first opened 5 years ago. I have eaten food there, seen many great tribute bands on stage, watched live sporting events, sat quietly with a group of friends and watched soaps on the big screen, and most importantly, I've danced the night away many times. #A BRIEF HISTORY Chicago Rock Café came to Swansea just at the end of the year 2000. ...The Bad Ass Café is an American diner style restaurant famous for its burgers and its high profile rock star connections. Apparently the establishment was visited by none other than the great Bruce Springsteen (Sinead O'Connor also worked there as a struggling musician...but I don't like her as much!) and it is easy to see why (referring to Bruce, not my dislike of Sinead!). Unusual features include the colourful, animal themed (if that's what you call a smoking dog in a detective's outfit) menus...for adults, an open kitchen (always good to see), and what, without the technical terminology, I'm going to call a 'rapid-fire, gravity and pulley driven, order delivery system'. The Ciao Café was created to give us that area where steam can be blown off, where non-product related advice can be given, and where stories and poems can be shared. A while ago, a certain reviewer (ok, me) defined the Ciao Café as "the part of the site that is especially community oriented - this is a non-paying section of the site where you can write stories, poems, the kind of question-and-answer essays that you tend to get through email - the 'what's on my duvet' type thing and so forth." ...When I was younger and on holiday a really big treat for me was if you happened to stumble across a Hard Rock cafe whilst away. For me Hard Rock cafes were always slightly magical and mysterious places that I intrinsically linked with being on holiday. For me, it always had to be a burger, chocolate milkshake and an ever collectible Hard Rock cafe jumper, tee shirt, cap or whatever else caught my eye and spending money would allow! Where is it? Living near to Manchester I was excited when I heard that a new Hard Rock Cafe was to open. It is situated in the city centre as part of the new Printworks development. ...finished your meal and when you put your key into the door and open it, the pound drops out of the slot. After sorting this out I leave my handbag minus the purse in my trolley as it is quite safe and the security guard is nearby. We head to the loos first and they are situated at the back of the Cafe and they are nice and sparkling clean. We come back into the Cafe and there was only about 7 people in there, eatings bits and pieces of this and that and a drink to match. The Cafe is very bright and has a mixture of yellow tables if I remember rightly and beech shaped chairs, which looked nice, however there was uncleared rubbish on tables and it looked a bit scruffy, nothing that could not be put right with someone coming out for five mins to give it a clean. ...within the City. Later, it was given to the Public Transport Museum. In 2000, it was brought back to Prague and was carefully renovated. The trams are placed side by side with a little walkway connecting the two. In one tram there are seating areas, and in the other tram there is a bar with more seating areas and also the toilets. Menu The café is only fairly small so we were surprised to see that, considering its size, it still had quite a varied menu. The café sells various drinks including wines, beer, international spirits such as baileys and Malibu and soft drinks such as coke and sprite. A selection of milkshakes including vanilla and blueberry flavour were also on offer. They serve hot drinks including tea, coffee, hot chocolate and hot fruit juices. My girlfriend had hot Pear Juice which to be honest sounded awful to me... Read review

Of course, on the Isle of Wight, you're never far from a cafe, and in Ryde that's especially true. There are no lack of teashops along the seafront and in the main shopping area, but if you want something more than your bogstandard cafe, then you should definitely pay a visit to The Orrery. **History** The Orrery Cafe was opened with the main aim of making enough money to open a Globe Museum on the same location. ...are full, so you may have up to a fifteen minute walk to reach the restaurant. The outside of the restaurant was fairly attractive, nothing too special, but the sign post made it quite luring! We arrived at the "cafe" around 6.20pm. It was fairly busy and there was a small queue at the front of the restaurant. We only had a five minute wait however and the waiter was very apologetic. We were asked by the cheerful looking man, how many of us would like to dine and when we told him four, he took us through to a table nearing the back of the restaurant. To reach our seats we had to walk past the bar. It was quite a friendly environment, and some "jolly" people were sitting round the bar having a laugh with the bar tender.
