Hotel Cala n Blanes - Cala n Blanes ,FIRST CHOICE
Review of Hotel Cala 'n Blanes, Minorca by
babajack
Advantages: MENORCA A LOVELY PLACE TO VISIT
Disadvantages: HOTEL A LITTLE DISSAPOINTING
...that is checked by the beach staff so you will be warned if they are in the sea. Lots of people got stung but we loved the pool so it didnt spoil our time.
10 min walk to Calan Forcat - small water park, shops and bars.
We hired a car and visited several small beaches - Cala Mitjana - hilarious for the kids as there were some nudists there!!! Lots of places for you to just stop on the road take a towel and dive into the sea.
All in all we had a great time, the weather was a little cloudy at times and it was VERY windy in the resort but we all got tans and we made some great friendsd.
ENTERTAINMENT - Good family fun, archery, shooting, killerpool etc. The grown ups got very competitive and we had lots of fun booing eachother at certificate giving time. Evening shows - some were good the african dancers and mexican show. Magic show was good...

Kids, Kids and loads of family fun!
Review of Cala'n Bosch Hotel, Minorca by
RichardElse
Advantages: Great For Families and Kids
Disadvantages: Decor & maybe not suitable for couples
...The hotel Cala n Bosch is situated in the resort of Cala n Bosch which also happens to be the furthest resort that you could possibly get to from Mahon Airport.
The hotel itself towers above Cala n Bosch and can be seen as you drive down the main road that comes from Ciutadella approaching the resort. Transfer times could be 1 hour to 1 hour 30 depending on time of day or if you have other stops.
The resort of Cala n Bosch is set around a pleasant, relaxing and friendly man-made marina with an abundance of shops, restaurants and cafés. It also features a kiddies play area called the Goodie Goodie restaurant which is packed with fun and activities for kids and teenagers.
From a room at the front of the hotel (main entrance side) you will get fantastic views of the marina and the surrounding areas and a sea view. The other side...

Cala N Bosch- Menorca
Review of Menorca (Spain) by
bubblyblonde45
Advantages: Great sights, lovely weather, fantastic location
Disadvantages: None
...Hi there!
I have just returned back today from Menorca, and had such a fantastic time, I wanted to share my experience in case anyone is looking for a brilliant holiday in the near future.
Myself and my partner arrived in Mahon (the recently made capital of Menorca) on 4th May 2007. We were travelling with Thomas Cook, and had booked a week in the Valentin Star Hotel (4*) located in Cala N Bosch on the South west Coast of Menorca. We had booked half board, which also included in flight meals. Booking about 6 months in advance, and booking online via the internet, the entire package for 2 of us cost the bargain price of under £500! I believe we saved about £400 by booking online. Transfers were also included, and all in all, the service was quick, efficient, and with friendly staff.
Environment:
Menorca is noted for its...

Binimar
Review of Binimar Apartments, Menorca by
jt333
Advantages: A perfect hotel for families!
Disadvantages: Can get busy in peak seasons.
...** Where are the Binimar Apartments? **
The Binimar apartments are in the western, coastal town of Menorca; Cala'n Forcat. Cala'n Forcat is situated right next to the old capital city of Menorca (Ciutadella), so there's loads to do! Cala'n Forcat is a town typically built for tourists, so if you want to go on an historic holiday to a quiet Spanish town where you can sample the traditional Spanish delights, i wouldn't recommend staying here but for all other purposes it's a lively resort where you can enjoy the wonderful weather with everthing close to hand. Taking a step back from Cala'n Forcat and looking at the area in general, you'll never be bored, you've got the old capital city of Cuitadella where you spend days out experiencing a more typical Spanish way of life and to the north west is Fornells which is another Spanish town...

Come and Stay at The Siesta Mar in Cala 'n Porter
Review of Menorca (Spain) by
angela.muscat
Advantages: Spacious, well equipped, well situated
Disadvantages: Not suitable of the immobile and food and drink tends to be dearer than elsewhere
...The Siesta Mar is situated in Cala'n Porter in Menorca. There are approximately 240 apartments within the complex, some of which are privately owned and can be rented directly from the owners (I have found a couple of web sites on the net using Jeeves or Yahoo and requesting "Siesta Mar"). We booked our apartment in a package with Thomsons Two adults and three children in a two bedroomed apartment, flying from Southampton airport, 11 June-25 June 2001 cost approximately £1600 including insurance.
The Siesta Mar is divided into two sections, Siesta Mar I and II.
Siesta Mar II.
Siesta Mar II is the hub of the complex and is where you will find the reception and main entertainment area, laundry, games room, bars and restaurant.
There is a medium sized swimming pool made up of three interlocking circles, a rockery...

The biggest but the smallest waterpark?
Review of Aquarock Water Park by
RichardElse
Advantages: Facilities and keeps kids entertained
Disadvantages: Small Waterpark, busy with little choice of activities and prices
...The Aqua Rock waterpark is the main waterpark on the island of Menorca. Situated at the back of the resort of Cala n Bosch it is one of two which is the biggest but possibly the smallest one you will visit anywhere. The alternative and smaller one is in Cala n Forcat.
The No:65 bus from Ciutadella will take you into Cala n Bosch, various other bus services from other resorts will take you to Ciutadella, there you will change to the above bus service (unless you have a car)
Menorca is the second largest of the Baleric islands and with the biggest family holiday packages sold to Menorca by nearly all the tour operators the waterpark is a disappointment.
Ample car parking is available right outside the entrance gate, no charges for parking cars.
The park is open from 10.30am until 6pm (local time) daily
Prices are €17...

Don't go if you don't have kids!
Review of Menorca (Spain) by
clayts
Advantages: Nice scenery
Disadvantages: Entertainment is all aimed at children with little for adults to do
...If you don't have children then don't go to Menorca, you will feel out of place without a buggy! Cala n forcat was the resort we stayed in which is totally geared towards the family, even the evening entertainment was aimed at children with little or nothing for adults to do. Even the pubs were full of kids until closing time. This was all the more frustrating as we had bad weather for 4 out of the 6 days we were there. We went for a week in June this year (2000), this was our annual holiday & the rain reduced our enjoyment further.
We are not normally the kind of people to complain about anything, but I have to say that this was the worst holiday that we have ever had.
There are a couple of nice cove beaches, but they are very small & when the sun finally came out on our last day the beaches were mobbed. If your went at a quieter...

Things You Never Knew You Never Knew
Review of Menorca (Spain) by
zoe_page
Advantages: Nice, family place, beautiful beaches and scenary
Disadvantages: Not overly lively
...for a week or two, but I don’t think I’d want to spend months on end there again.
R is for RESORTS
Menorca is a mish-mash of coastal tourist resorts and inland towns such as Ferreries and Es Mercadel. The resorts can be split into 3 areas – the north, the south and the west, with not all that many developments in the East. In the north there’s Fornells, Son Parc and Arenal, in the South, Son Bou and Cala'n Porter and in the West, Cala’n Bosch and Cala’n Forcat. These two are by far the most commercialised, boasting water parks, children’s adventure areas, restaurants and bars, and even the odd night club. Bosch has a pretty harbour area, and Forcat has 3 gorgeous little coves. They are very much family resorts and Forcat has now even earned the title “Blackpool of Menorca”. Says it all...

Menorca- Why Not To Go In Late October !
Review of Menorca (Spain) by
jo68
Advantages: Unspoilt, pretty, easy to explore, good for families
Disadvantages: Like ghost town at end of season
...No doubt about it. Menorca is a lovely little island.
Great for families, unspoilt by high rise buildings
and just the right size to have a good nosey around.
People told us it was a great place to holiday, and so did the travel agent. What they didn't tell us is that if you go in the October half term holiday, then the island is already closing down for the season !
The holiday wasn't cheap. You expect that at school holiday times. However, you do expect to get value for money.
When we arrived, some shops and restaurants had already closed. As the week progressed, more followed until eventually, there was nowhere left to eat ! It's not that there weren't any people there either. We stayed at the Oasis Park apartments in Cala'n Forcat and it was virtually full.
We even struggled to get cash out of the ATMs as they had been...

The Perfect Family Holiday
Review of Menorca (Spain) by
Natalie27
Advantages: perfect for families
Disadvantages: works those thigh muscles
...Now the nights are drawing in, and Christmas is approaching, for many, thought's turn to next years holiday. When the wind is howling outside, theres nothing more comforting than curling up on the sofa with a pile of holiday brochures and dreaming of sippping cocktails from the comfort of your sunlounger!
Now lets get back to reality for a minute, If you have a family, are thinking of going abroad next year, but don't know where to go, let me take some of the leg work out of it for you. - Go to Cala'n Porter a small but beautiful resort on the island of Menorca.
My family and I visited this resort in July of this year (14th - 28th). We flew from East Midlands airport and stayed for two weeks.
To begin with, the flight is ideal. If like me, you have a child under 2, and dread the thought of a frantic flight with a writhing...
