Kodak Tri-X
Review of Kodak Tri-X Camera Film by
Dudler
Advantages: Reliable, tolerant, a piece of living history!
Disadvantages: Newer films are sharper and less grainy
...Kodak Tri-X is, I think, the oldest stager on the market: it was around years before I started taking pictures in the late Sixties. Of course, like all the other standard films, it has been modified and improved over the years, but the essential character is unchanged.
Resilience is the watchword here. There are sharper films. There are less grainy films. None of them will produce good results in any developer, and none are so tolerant of ill-treatment. There are rumours that you can develop good Tri-X negatives in Brown Windsor soup – and they might well be true!
Tri-X was the standard film from the Sixties onwards for press photography because of this tolerance of extreme abuse. The fact that it gave reasonable grain and very good sharpness for a fast film certainly helped: but the ability to survive in the Vietnam jungle...

My camera is as small as a matchbox
Review of Digital Dream l'espion digital camera by
PeterFarrell
Advantages: Small, cheap, good pics, 20 high res pics, 80 low, easy to setup.
Disadvantages: Won't take pictures in the dark, pics are sometimes a little blurred, hard to aim at first.
...crude, but effective view finder up. It is only a guide to aiming this device, but it will take some getting used to. It does not give you an idea of size in relation to what you see and how the photo will turn out, but this comes with practice and I can now gauge roughly how much of something I will capture in my image.
As the L’espion is so small, you can easily tilt it slightly, and your picture ends up cutting the heads off of several relatives, missing an important moment, or taking a picture of utter rubbish which will take you ten minutes to figure out what it is. I have now learnt how to hold this camera, laying it along my index finger as a support to make sure it is square and then looking through the viewfinder from a distance to try to prevent looking through it at an angle and aim at the centre of the object.
The beauty...

Perfect Scotish pop
Review of Underachievers Please Try Harder - Camera Obscura by
mart34
Advantages: Great songs, one of the most melodic albums ever
Disadvantages: One weaker track
...Camera Obscura are the emerging darlings of the Scotish music industry.'Underachievers Please Try Harder' was released in 2003 and was raved about by the much missed John Peel and Stuart Murdoch (Belle and Sebastian) who has helped raise the profile of this band and indeed took the cover photos for the album. Named after an optical device that I will neve be able to explain the workings of they are a six piece fronted by Tracyann Campbell who sings and writes most of the songs. And what you get with Camera obscura are some of the most simplistic but melodic pop songs written in the last decade.Comparisons with Belle and Sebastian I can understand but make no mistake this group has a sound of there own.The album consists of 11 stunning songs which should delight any serious music lover.
I have to confess I wrote down...

Vanguard Camera Case
Review of Vanguard LIMA 6B Case Camera by
costas1234
Advantages: Cheap price, Safe and Durable, Waterproof, and Camera Protective
Disadvantages: Made in China, Available in black only.
...standards and as such goes through plenty of research and development and quality control testing.
Size of Camera Case
This particular case is for use with small digital SLR camera's and the measurements; 2 1/2 x 1 3/8 x 4 1/8 inches. This is a quite small camera case overall. It fits my current camera Samsung S860 quite well. Though as in anything of this nature choosing the right size of camera case to fit your particular camera is so important. There is just about enough room to fit the case without getting the camera itself scratched, or trying to fit too much camera inside a fixed volume.
Advantages of this camera case
User's can combine the storage of the camera, along with a battery and other small camera accessories. There is a zip that can be used to seal the case. This makes the camera case earn some of its money...

Big bargains in the Digital Camera Basement
Review of Comparison Of Film & Camera Types by
callancool
Advantages: Bargains to be had
Disadvantages: Too many to choose from
...for an amazing £90.00, £30 less than both catalogue stores are selling it for. So try and price match. Dixon's are doing Jenimage (formerly Jenoptik - I think the low end digital business has been sold to German retail chain 3mbo so the Jenoptik name will only be on the high quality business end such as digital backs - a digital back goes on a front body that can take either a film or digital back body) - but don't quote me JDC 2.1 for £70, and the JD 3.3 Megaslim for £90 (both have 4x digi, web cam and video modes with CMOS sensors). They are also selling a the Kodak cx 6200 for £80.00 (as are Comet) 3 MP Kodak with digi zoom but no optical from the old 4000 series (make sure you get the 4000 series camera dock if you want a dock, though you don't need it) for the great price of £100.00, and both of these Kodak's are very tempting

Point and Shoot to a great camera information site
Review of Cameras.co.uk by
whitehall1
Advantages: Clear, extensive and thorough information on all types of camera
Disadvantages: More information on the site author/reviewer would be nice
...on it. I will update my review if I try this.
--------------
Summary
--------------
Relevant impartial information written in plain English. The camera reviews are useful and comprehensive. The disadvantages are that there is not much information about the camera reviewer, and the links to retailers are not extensive. However, as an information site, it is excellent. If you are looking for a camera, I would recommend you try this site to help you on your way.
P.S. Following a helpful suggestion, it might be a good idea to identify a camera you want and then handle it for yourself in a high street retailer before buying it online (as we did for our camera). This step will ensure that you actually like the feel of the camera in your hands. I admit it's a wee bit devious but when I consider the price difference between the high...

My Uvy Ickle Camera
Review of Digital Dream l'espion digital camera by
michaird
Advantages: Little and cute
Disadvantages: Hardley professional
...no frills camera. Something that does the job, which was to take clear pictures of stuff I wanted to sell. I didn’t want to pay all the £100 I’d just made to get it either.
I came across the Digital Dream L’espion camera on Ebay for £35 and with a recommended retail price of £39.99 this wasn’t bad. After winning the auction I am now the proud owner of a little digital camera that you would probably lose if you tried to use it for porn.
Appearance
**********
The camera comes in a box about the size of a CD, except deeper. The camera, nestled in the middle, looks for all the world like a novelty lighter. In silvery coloured plastic, with a key ring chain, it’s smaller than the palm of my hand and at 58mm x 40mm x 15mm, weighing 40g it’s the tiniest camera I have ever seen in my life. It comes...

A great camera till disaster struck
Review of JVC GR-D23 Digital Video Camera by
grafter123
Advantages: Lightweight ,good clarity of pictures and sound, easy to use , well known make
Disadvantages: Not cheap
....
This instruction booklet is A5 size , only in English and 56 pages long . It refers to model numbers GR-D93 , GR-D73 , GR-D53 and GR-D23 . There are 5 pages of troubleshooting at the back . There is also the web link :- http://www.jvc.co.jp/english/cyber/
and for accesories http://www.jvc.co.jp/english/accessory/
After my husbands delight on opening his present we both had fun experimenting with the camera. As novices we had a laugh trying the zoom in and out, and focusing. My husband took family films during the holidays and film of our two dogs at the time,
It is a very easy camera to operate . If you are right handed you slip your right hand through the carrying handle . You then can open the screen with you left hand . This enables you to use the backlight / night function and view your recordings . There is also a s-video socket...

Shopping for a Camera? Worth a quick look!
Review of shopping4cameras.com, online camera store by
whitehall1
Advantages: Good Prices, Great Delivery
Disadvantages: Limited Information, Variable Product Range
...After identifying which digital camera we wanted on cameras.co.uk (see my review on that site - "Point and Shoot to a great camera information website", and my review of my camera "The confessions of a camera hunter"), I then started shopping around for the best price.
We were a bit wary of using Pixmania after reading some of the comments on ciao. Whilst we wanted to get a good deal, we wanted to actually get the camera, and we did not want lots of hassle.
The next best price for the camera I wanted was on shopping4cameras.co.uk. Here is my review of that website.

Site Layout
----------------
First impressions are that this a modern looking site, with lots of photographs of its stock - it always good to see what you are buying. It clearly identifies on the front page that it sells the major brands...

Pick a camera, any camera.
Review of Tips on Choosing a Camera by
bigbtommy
Advantages: Large amount of flexibility in current market
Disadvantages: Too many new cameras, not enough money!
...questions.
1) If I would rather have system X than Y, would I be prepared to pay £ more for it?
2) Can I really be bothered?
And that's it. As you get more dedicated, and therefore more in debt to MasterCard, and more likely to need a wheelchair, the closer you are to getting yourself a career in photography. It's backbreaking work, you know?
But, to give a short antithesis to that, I'd just like to say - cameras are not everything. On a scale of importantce, they fall pretty low. As a student, I've seen work taken on compacts that has rivalled in creative values work done by rich, well-known photographers. The key thing to have is talent, a keen eye and ideas. Not to mention the drive to try and bring those ideas to fruition. I've seen someone who has been using an APS compact (yes, the very same APS compact I slagged off earlier...
