Getting around anywhere by bus
Review of Getting around in London by bus by
yorkie2
Advantages: Cheap and reasonably convenient
Disadvantages: Can be dirty and uninviting
...them because they have a built in resistance to
allowing a bus to pass. It must be stopped. One trick of motorists is to just allow their
car wheels to enroach into the bus lane enough to stop the bus for a minute or so. That
makes them feel better. The real nasty ones will actually enter the bus lane and
deliberately drive slowly. Honest it is done.
Pre paid tickets are now the rage with all bus companies and sometimes called travel
cards. Just think about them for a moment. You pay in advance for 2 weeks or a
months free travel. That is money in the bank for the company and at the highest
possible rate of interest. The bus that you ride on using your travel card is going to run
anyway whether you are on it or not because they are obligated to a timetable. How
many times do you see a full bus outside of peak times? and your...

Best Bus Company
Review of The Big Bus Company by
Muswell
Advantages: Loads of them!
Disadvantages: Not all the open-tops can be covered in case of London rain...
...-stops, of which around 40 are permanently manned during the summer by people who will sell you tickets to the Big Bus and most of London’s main attractions (the ones you have to pay for, anyway!). For Madame Tussauds, the Tower of London and the London Dungeon they sell “fast-track” tickets which in the summer can knock three hours of queing down to about 10 minutes. You Madame Tussauds and the Tower tickets have to be used within 48 hours of the start time of your Big Bug ticket, the London Dungeon ticket is valid for two weeks. Buying tickets for other attractions in advance isn’t guaranteed to save you time, but frequently does anyway, and most of these tickets are open-ended or last for three months
They accept cash, travellers’ cheques (sterling only) and most main credit cards, and the people on the pavement don’t get paid commission...

Reliable adapters, but not excellent...
Review of Xircom RealPort CardBus Ethernet 10/100 + Modem 56 by
adicos
Advantages: Reliable, lot of features
Disadvantages: Problems when installing on Win98 and WinMe
...ready (the third slot on the card, but you ask the vendor if that specific card is)
- Integrated Ethernet LAN, modem and telephone handset pass-through connectors provide reliable cable-free connectivity
–16 bit
- PC Card detects both 10 and 100 Mbps Ethernet through a single connector for faster performance
- Dimensions(WxDxH)/Weight-86 x 54 x 10.5 mm/36 g
- Hot-swappable (you can just plug it into the card slot and the system will see it, but I recommend to do this with a Win2000 or WinXP)
- System Requirements - IBM OS/2, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Microsoft Windows 3.x/95/98/2000/XP.
2. Xircom® RealPort CardBus Ethernet 10/100+Modem 56 GlobalACCESS (RBEM56G-100)
This card has THE SAME specs (except the fact that it is a 32 bits card, making it faster than its “sister” + it has the power saving feature...

Very very good
Review of Xircom RealPort CardBus Ethernet 10/100 by
mattdibb
Advantages: No dongles to loose or break, quality, speed
Disadvantages: Takes up both PCMCIA slots
...on - its like there was a normal socket there. They only problem is that it will take up both slots to make space for the full sized socket.
The card its self is of a very high quality. It supports all sorts of special features like SNMP network management, BatterySave (tm) for increased battery life, and of course full 10/100mbps speeds (because this card uses the CardBus feature of the more recent laptops you really can get 100mbps, just make sure your laptop can support it). Another neat feature is the network status lights are integrated into the socket - when they are on it illuminated the actual plug so you know what is going on. Even just the feel of it in your hands suggest quality - its very solid and well put together unlike some PCMCIA cards I have seen.
I've found the card to be absolutely faultless and of great quality. I...
