The D'Or To Ice Cream Heaven
Review of Carte D'Or Spagnola by  lwperkins

Advantages: Makes a nice change from 'Ben and Jerry's'
Disadvantages: Calorie Packed, Not cheap

...If I ever went on ‘Mastermind’ my specialist subject might well be Cherry Ice Cream (well its no weirder than the bloke who chose ‘Cements Used In Hip Replacement’ now is it?!) I see myself as something of a cherry ice cream connoisseur and although Ben and Jerry’s ‘Cherry Garcia’ reigns supreme as the ice cream of choice in my household there is a young pretender to its throne…enter Carte D’Or Spagnola ice cream. Carte D’Or ice cream isn’t new to the market and according to my ‘extensive’ research is the number one brand in Britain – one in 10 people have now eaten Carte D’or ice cream (that was my useless fact for the day – an even more useless one being that enough Carte D’or ice cream is sold in Britain each year to stretch from Lands End to John O’Groats and back again – imagine the hassle getting to work if you had to negotiate... FANCY SOMETHING COOL, DARK AND RICH
Review of Carte D'Or Triple Chocolate by  junkboxjules

Advantages: Loads of lovely chocolate so great for chocoholics
Disadvantages: No nutritional values, bitter plain chocolate ice cream takes over flavour

...Having just had a week off work and thoroughly enjoyed spending loads of time at theme parks and seaside resorts scoffing loads of yummy ice creams I was feeling a bit fed up today at being back at work whilst also suffering from withdrawal symptoms from lack of ice cream. I'm not normally a great ice cream fan but whilst in Iceland earlier today I was persuaded by my son to buy a tub of ice cream as he had spotted cornets and flakes and wanted to make a 99 at home. As the Carte d'Or Ice Cream was on offer I relented. Carte d'Or is produced by Birds Eye Wall's and is available in several flavours including Creme Caramel, Spagnola and Triple Chocolate. Being keen chocolate fans we were both won over by the Triple Chocolate Flavour. The ice cream is packaged in a clear oval 500g tub. I think that the clear tub is a good idea... Read review

Head over heels in love with this!
Review of Carte D'or Crema di Mascarpone by  satyamkhurana

Advantages: Tastes divine
Disadvantages: Very addictive!

...No no I dont believe this, I consumed 900 ml of Carte D'Or Crema di Mascarpone in three days! What on earth was I thinking and what about my dieting? All wait-watching gone down the drain. Nevermind, we can again dig into some more of the divine icecream while dieting can wait! I have always been very fond of Carte D'or selection of icecreams. But I must say this one has been the best so far and very addictive. Because of the scrumptious taste I have made a record of sort in my own for eating the whole tub in three days. This icecream was suggested to me by a friend. I wouldnt have bothered to buy it until I was told that it was selling under some promotional scheme. I bought a 900ml tub for 1.34 GBP from Morrisons under that special scheme ( also available at Tesco and Sainsbury's for under two pounds). I got to buy under... Read review

Greek Is The Word
Review of Carte d'or Greek Yoghurt and Honey by  snowbunni

Advantages: Nice Honey
Disadvantages: Artificial, Misleading Product Description

...'Greek Yoghurt... and Honey', whispered a late-night television advert, in the sort of dulcet tones more commonly associated with M&S sausages. A couple of warm and sunny days later, when I found myself floundering in a frozen food aisle, struggling to appease two small children, I spotted it and popped it in the trolley at once. I suppose I imagined (in a moment of folly) that it might transport me from the aisles...to the isles. THE LOOK: Carte D'Or's 'Greek Yoghurt and Honey' is packaged in a 900ml, oval-shaped tub, and in the customarily 'classy' Carte D'Or livery, which is all ostentatious gilt and earnest lettering. The back label seems promising enough... 'Deliciously smooth ice cream made with authentic Greek yoghurt', it proclaims, 'swirled and topped with Greek-style honey sauce and crunchy toasted almonds. Only... Read review

The Creaminess as you Swallow
Review of Wall's Carte D'Or Ice Cream, Danubienne by  NoLogoGirl

Advantages: Very creamy and full of flavour
Disadvantages: Expensive(for ice cream)

...The creamy texture, the strong flavour and the soft scoop ease make Wall's Carte D'or Ice Cream my new devlish delight. I have strawberry, bought on special at Safeway. I could never afford it normally although now that I have had my first taste, I might have to make room in the budget. You should ignore the fact that the reason it is extra creamy is because it has about ten times more fat than own brand ice cream. It's a treat right? Justify the fatiness by telling yourself you can make up for it by eating all of the large pieces of strawberries found throughout. I bought it for £2.65 for 500mL which is terrible considering I can get two litres for 99p at Safeway, but the difference in taste is undeniable. Unlike most icecreams that are artificially flavoured, Carte D'or very obviously has genuine flavouring... Read review

Too good to share
Review of Carte D'Or Vanilla by  mgrigsby

Advantages: Creamy and delicious
Disadvantages: None

...My mother collects plastic boxes. You know the sort - brightly-coloured containers with ill-fitting lids, that formerly contained margarines, ice-creams and yoghurts. Such is her delight at these little boxes that exploration of her fridge is likely to produce at least four of these containers, accommodating anything from stewed prunes to baked beans, cheese to tinned pears. There is only one thing certain in this life - if you find a Flora carton in my mother's fridge it will not contain Flora! So whilst hunting through the collection the other day for the perfect box to hold the remains of a trifle (don't ask!), I came across an old Carte d'Or ice cream container. "I don't recall you ever trying Carte d'Or" I said - my mother is strictly a Walls Vanilla or Marks & Spencer woman. "I never have" she replied, "I think this was Gwen... Read review

ONCE TWICE THREE TIMES AN ICE CREAM AND I LOVE YOU
Review of Carte D'Or Triple Chocolate by  vicky27

Advantages: THE IDEAL TREAT GREAT AS COMFORT FOOD
Disadvantages: EXPENSIVE TO SOME

...We went to visit my mom yesterday as she has been feeling unwell,a bit of a cold and a sore throat,so as a treat we decided to buy her some ice cream. Not any old ice cream though,we lashed out and bought her favourite, carte d’or triple chocolate. I knew my mother like the chocolate ice cream of any variety so hopefully she would like this. Carte d’or is available in several different flavours, but this was the only one available in the chocolate variety. I love this too,so I was thinking of myself as well as my mom when I bought this. This particular tub contains three different chocolates, milk plain, and white. The actual tub is oval, white plastic and the ice cream is visible. When we arrived at my mothers, she was much better and accepted the ice cream with pleasure. We opened the tub and just removed the plastic coating... Read review

How "vanilla" are you ..... ?
Review of Carte D'Or Vanilla by  fantasybeliever

Advantages: It's cold and it's ice cream
Disadvantages: Doesn't live up to its promise

...***Introduction*** I love vanilla. I adore vanilla ice cream as well as any hint of the scent of such a wonderful substance. A good, high quality vanilla ice cream is hard to find. In my humble opinion there’s not that many great vanilla ice creams to be found. So when I came across the Carte D’or brand on BOGOF (buy one get one free) at Sainsbury, I couldn’t pass up the chance to give it a try. Not being one to limit my choices, I chose one tub of Carte D’Or Spagnola (that’s cherry to you and me) and Carte D’Or Vanilla. At £2.89 for a 1-litre container I thought this was a reasonable price, given that it’s marketed as a premium product for which you might expect to pay a slightly higher price, so given the offer it was damned good value. ***Packaging*** Now, the vanilla one really did grab my attention. The packaging... Read review

A divine fruity sensation
Review of Carte D'Or with Yogurt and Fruit by  SusanLesley

Advantages: Tastes divine, looks wonderful
Disadvantages: Probably high in calories and a bit expensive

...I read an excellent opinion by Karenuk ages ago about Carte D’Or Yoghurt and Fruit Ice Cream and I have been meaning to try some ever since. Well yesterday I finally got round to it! I bought a 900ml tub from my local branch of Tesco’s at a price of £2.57, so it wasn’t cheap, but then neither was it horrendously expensive either. We decided to try it last night as a sweet after our evening meal. We had a glass sundae dishful each and it used about half of the tub, meaning there will be four person/servings in each tub. There may be more or less for you depending on how much you like to eat at a time! As with all the Carte D’Or range of ice creams this one comes in an oval see through plastic tub with a snap on lid. There is also a clear inner plastic seal, which is useful to stop any leakage spills on the way home from... Read review

SCOOP - no beer
Review of Carte D'Or Spagnola by  proxam

Advantages: Soft and creamy, not too fussy
Disadvantages: Not very exciting

...Today I'm reviewing something that I get through quite a lot of when the weather's warm, as it has been this last wee while. And guess what? It's not beer (although I've been known to work my way through a fair bit of that). I'm talking ice cream. Ice cream in general, and CARTE D'OR in particular. And if we're going to get pernicketty, CARTE D'OR SPAGNOLA in detail. (Is it just me, or does Spagnola sound more like some sort of pasta dish than a dessert?) Let's pop open the tub and dive right in. The ice cream itself is a pale yellow, vanilla coloured affair with the purply, dark cherry sauce rippling throughout. There's not an awful lot of said sauce and in fact, it looks suspiciously like a plain vanilla ice cream that has had some token flavouring added as an afterthought. Hmm, smells OK. Again, vanilla...
