just a beauty
Review of Punta del Este by  traveller55

Advantages: thousands
Disadvantages: it is a litlle (?!!!?) faraway

...of the region; it has also a good collection of paintings. We are in a seamen town and consequently there is a "Museo del Mar", located at "Barra de Maldonado". The museum display a collection of more than ten thousands specimen of marine fauna originated from all around the world: seahorses, corals, crustaceans, whale teeth, turtle shells, shark jaws. And also a large aquarium and a photographic display that shows the develop of Punta del Este from its birth to now days. I know that Punta del Este is to faraway and that it could be quite expensive going there but instead to take a couple of trips per year going to places like Sharm, Hurgada, Ibiza, Tenerife, Palma de Mallorca or may be Brazil or Thailand why don't stay home for a couple of years saving money and then go there for two or three unforgettable weeks? May be staying at the hotel... Read review

Café Del Mar. Wave the sun goodbye...til tomorrow.
Review of Cafe Del Mar & Cafe Mambo by  randhawa

Advantages: perfect spot to watch the sunset
Disadvantages: none

...Sitting on the rocks, sipping a drink, the only noise is from the bar behind playing tranquil and serene music, watching the sun slowly disappear below the sea. Its beautiful. A trip to Ibiza isn't complete with out a visit to San Antonios sunset strip in the bay of Calo des Moro. Café del mar was built in the 1980s. Is is now joined by Mambo, Savannah and Kanya at al but Café Del Mar is still the most renowned. Café Del Mar produces its own music and was responsible for starting the chill-out trend with its trademark mellow Baleraric beat. Since 1994 Café Del Mar has been releasing annual chillout albums. For those people who are running low on euros !....you can bring your own drinks and sit on the rocks in front of the café, you can still hear the music. Once the sun has left us, there is usually entertainment in the form... Read review

Casa del Balam Hotel, Merida
Review of Casa del Balam Hotel, Merida by  matt_fantastic

Advantages: A unique and quaint hotel...
Disadvantages: Lacking a few mod-cons...

...We stayed in this hotel for a few days while on a little tour of the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico, including visits to Cancun (don't bother), Playa del Carmen & Cozumel (much better) and the amazing ancient Mayan ruins at Uxmal, Chitzen Itza and Tulum. (I'll try and get round to reviewing all these later...) We arrived by taxi from Merida airport (a short journey), having flown in from Cancun, where we had arrived in Mexico the day before, and were delighed with what we found, a massive improvement of the brash touristy-ness of Cancun ! The Casa del Balam Hotel was formerly the family home of Fernando Barbachano Peon, pioneer of Mexican tourism. A blend of Mexican tiles, terracotta and wrought iron, it has a small pool in a walled courtyand, complete with a stone carved fountain and tropical plants, a restaurant and bar, along with 43... Madrid yes
Review of Madrid (Spain) by  dack

Advantages: culture, people, nightlife
Disadvantages: none

...ok i am going to give a more detail view of Madrid. First of all Madrid is the greenest city in Europe , people don´t know that but is true you´ll find historical parks like Retiro, Campo del moro, fuente del berro,el capricho parque del oeste and on the other hand you have new parks like Juan Carlos I close to the airport and huge parks like casa del campo. A good itinerary to see part of the old Madrid starts at the royal palace, is a towering structure that has already 250 years of history and it is considered one of the best in Europe. Then should take calle mayor and you´ll find at your right La plaza de la villa, It's surrounded by 15th to 17th-century aristocratic mansions that have been taken over by the Town Hall. At this point if you want you can get lost on the narrow streets or if you prefer stay on calle mayor and you... Read review

Eric Clapton pays homage to Robert Johnson.
Review of Sessions For Robert J (+DVD) [Digipak] - Eric Clapton by  dvdsprks2

Advantages: Robert Johnsons music is showcased by great musicians.
Disadvantages: Not all Robert Johnsons songs were covered.

...in this Dallas warehouse . Terraplane Blues, Hellhound On My Trail, Me And The Devil Blues, From Four Till Late Session 4 is Eric playing accoustic guitar and singing on his own in the Hotel Casa Del Mar, Santa Monica, California. These songs are:- Ramblin' On My Mind, Stones In My Passway, Love In Vain. The Dvd is a must for all Blues fans. If comparing the two albums Eric Clapton has made paying homage to Robert Johnson. I would rate "Sessions for Robert J" above "Me and Mr Johnson" the only difference between the albums being that Jerry Portnoy plays the Harmonica on the latter. "Me and Mr Johnson" is worth buying too as the Harmonica of Jerry Portnoy brings an added dimension to this collection of songs. I would recommend anybody who loves the Blues to buy this album. You won't be disappointed. Thanks for reading. © dvdsprks2 2007... Read review

Much fun with Scubafun!
Review of Dominican Republic (Dive Sites) by  miss_varna

Advantages: very friendly and patient instructors, very individual and good classes, great diving sites
Disadvantages: none

...the adventure of diving to the wreck of the Saint George, the wall off of Catalina Island or the dive sites around the smaller island Catalinita, where hammerheads, big rays and black tip sharks can be seen. The base ~~~~~~~~~ We were staying at the Hotel Casa Del Mar within 7 minutes walking distance from the village of Bayahibe. On the way from the hotel you pass by another base, Casa Daniel – don’t stop there, go on until you reach the little port and there you find the Scubadoo, Scubafun’s little sister, located in a blue wooden house next to the international telephone office. There is always some staff at Scubadoo (except for the lunch break and siesta) that helps you booking your dive packages or excursions; you can even buy some souvenirs. All the staff is multilingual (German/English/French/Spanish). Much of the equipment is stored... Read review

beautiful, vibrant colonial city
Review of San Cristobal (Mexico) by  Eloise

Advantages: beautiful city
Disadvantages: not as lairy at night as other mexican towns

...San Cristobal de las Casas is a real oasis in southern Mexico. After travelling through some mediocre places to get there, we were very pleasantly surprised by this breathtaking town. San Cristobal is very lively and vibrant - full of colour and activity. The brightly-coloured colonial architecture is beautiful and makes the whole town very appealing. There are various nice, friendly hostels to stay in and we also found good restaurants and bars, often playing local music. There is also an excellent market which sells reasonably-priced arts & crafts. One of the good things about San Cristobal is that it is far more Mexican and less touristy in feel than places such as Cancun. There is a lot of native Indian influence which seems to account for the colourful vibrancy of the town. We went on a day tour to some surrounding Indian... Read review

São Paulo
Review of São Paulo by  Nazuku

Advantages: São Paulo
Disadvantages: São Paulo

...The city of São Paulo officially became a city in 1711. In the 19th century, it experienced a lot of economic prosperity, brought about by coffee exports, which were shipped abroad from the port of the neighbouring city of Santos. It is one of the big 5 cities that exist in the world. It is the business centre of Brazil and, has many of the down sides of any big city: São Paulo is located on a plateau that is part of the Serra do Mar. Although there are no beaches in Sao Paulo there are places along the coast of Sao Paulo State. Rainfall is abundant, especially in the warmer months. One of the biggest financial centers of Brazil and the world. São Paulo is the most ethnically diverse city of Brazil.... Read review

Cafe del mar vaolume 3.
Review of Cafe Del Mar Ibiza Vol.3 (Compiled By Jose Padilla) - Various Artists by  markfarrow

Advantages: Simply fantastic
Disadvantages: none.

...Well i'm back reviewing the Cafe del mar series as promised, this time I am dealing with volume 3. This cd was put together during the summer of 1996, in Ibiza at the Cafe del mar, Which for any one that doesn't know, is a world famous cafe-cum-club known for its chill-out themes and generally having a nice time, relaxing and being relaxed. Its a haven for taking time out at, and many a clubber would have visited here during their stay in Ibiza. As you have come to expect, there is a wide mix of music on these cd's, on this volume though, there is nothing wildly different, the tracks seem to flow into one another, Im not sure if this realy works, all the other compilations have something different on them that wakes you up and makes you sit up and listen, but here there is none of that, you realy could fall to sleep listening... A magical mystery tour
Review of Barcelona Bus Turistic by  weetoon

Advantages: A great way to take in almost everything the city has to offer.
Disadvantages: You will look like a right tourist!

...universe through a huge variety of media, painting, sculpture, ceramic, tapestry… <%> La Ribera district, with the beautiful church of Santa Maria del Mar, a fine example of Catalan Gothic architecture, and the Museu Picasso, a must-see. <%> The Barri Gòtic, the cradle of the city of Barcelona, with a wealth of Roman remains. ~The red route~ ****************** <%> This route takes you past several buildings by Antoni Gaudí, a modernista architect (the movement known as Art Nouveau elsewhere), and Barcelona's most famous son after Picasso. Barcelona could be called Gaudi city, so numerous are his legacies and so representative of the city. The high vantage point is a huge bonus to see some of the landmarks, such as the Sagrada Família (or 'Sangria Familia', as we overheard one tourist call it…), or the Park Güell, the Casa Batló...
