One woman's ceiling is another man's floor
Review of Is there a 'glass ceiling' in relation to women gaining promotion? by
MyPOV
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...been really evil in a previous life) So, firstly here’s a couple of statistics about my company.
Number of employees = 3917
Of those 2578 are women (66%) and 1339 are men (44%)
Number of fee earners = 1917
Of those 1026 are women (54%) and 891 are men (46%)
From that you can gather that, in my firm at least, women make up a majority of the workforce and have a more than equal presence in the positions of authority and responsibility.
On a wider scale, nationally 60% of legal training contracts awarded over 2001/02 were to women; and currently 63.4% of those taking law degrees are women.
Yet despite all this the national trend is that women are in the minority in actual partnership positions.
All this does seem to point to a glass ceiling, and then of course there is the question of pay.
The average pay in England...

THE MOUNT FROM WHERE THE ARMADA WAS FIRST SIGHTED
Review of Saint Michael's Mount, Cornwall by
poshtroika
Advantages: Great Views.
Disadvantages: Not Disabled friendly, but sorry it can not be.
...SAINT MICHAELS MOUNT lies just off the Coast near Penzance.
I will start off by giving their web site address.
http://www.stmichaelsmount.co.uk/
This is an excellent site that gives a full History and Story of the Mount and I recommend a look for those details as my review is more about our experience.
We have visited the Mount on numerous occassions, starting with our first visit to Cornwall in 1969 as a Courting Couple (Thats an old fashioned term).
Other visits followed over the years with first one child, then two then three. And more recently with one of the Grand Chilren.
But each and every time it has its Magic. Each time the weather will be different. Also the tide and it is this that can alter the way you visit the Mount.
The Mount became an Island in about 2000 B.C. and at low tide can be walked across...

Mounts Bay Waters Apartments..A 5* experience!
Review of Mounts Bay Waters Apartment Hotel, Perth by
scarletuk72
Advantages: Very close to Perth city, stunning views, ultra modern......
Disadvantages: Room service got you up far too early!
...The apartments are a 20 minute drive from the airport and with the aid of a map we were able to find them quite easily. The Mounts bay waters apartments are situated on Mounts Bay road which is adjacent to two of Perths greatest attractions - the Swan River and Kings Park and is also just a few minutes stroll to the Perth central business district and also (more importantly if you like retail therapy) the shops!
Mounts Bay Waters apartments - also known as Mounts bay village, comprises of a number of buildings which house both hotel guests and residents.
Upon arrival we were quite excited as everywhere looked wonderful, not to mention clean, the reason for our excitement I will leave for another review, lets just say that our apartments in the last city, melbourne, didnt live up to expectations!
Anyway, There were six...

Keeping Cool
Review of Econ International Ceiling Fan by
wulise
Advantages: Keeps me cool when the wather is so hot!
Disadvantages: It only comes in green!
...Big Brother Challenge, write an opinion about a household appliance for week two!
The Encon International Ceiling fan is ideal to use during this hot spell. How do I know? I have one in my bedroom. I hope it lasts as long as my last ceiling fan, which began to short out a few days ago. Well what do I expect; it was ten years old!
** Combo-Mount**
This fan is equipped with the patented Combo-Canopy allowing the fan to be mounted on standard or vaulted ceilings. It has three height fittings, low, standard or vaulted.
**Design**
This fan is a five bladed fan, with a diameter of 105cm or 42”. The blades are reversible in green or wood effect. The mountings and the rest of the fan are brass. There are three spaces for bulbs. The shades are a pale green glass. The lights take three spot light bulbs. (E14 40 watts...

Hotel Mount Herbert, dublin
Review of Mount Herbert Hotel, Dublin by
steve2466
Advantages: Staff
Disadvantages: Evening Meal
...The nature of my work requires me to stay in away from home for several weeks of the year so it is important that I stay at quality hotels.
On this ossasion, July 2008, my company booked me into the Mount Herbert Hotel
This is near the Lansdowne Stadium and about 15 mins from where I was working.
I arrived at the hotel at about 7am and the staff on reception were extremely obliginging in allowing me to check in early.
The room I was given was extremely clean and in good conditionand well decorated.
It came with the usual tea and coffee making facilities, which were generously replenished on a daily basis.
There is satelite TV and includes the four main UK chanels
The buffet breakfast, that was included in the room charge, was well cooked and an excellent choice of items was available.
On the negative side I...

Mount Eccles - Cheap and cheerful
Review of Mount Eccles Court, Dublin by
funkazzy11
Advantages: Central Location
Disadvantages: Car parking
...as a television. We found the staff not very helpful and this opinion was backed up by lorry drivers who regulary stay there.
We were given no information about safes or lockers available to us, we took the risk and left things in the room so I'm unsure about where to leave valuables here. Also we were told by the receptionist as we waited outside on a taxi to move down the street because one member in our company was smoking, she came outside on a freezing cold night to tell us this - very pushy!!!
Location:
Mount Eccles is located in North Great George Street just off lower O'connell Street, one of the main shopping areas in Dublin and smack bang in the centre of things. A leisurely 5 minute stroll will take you there. The street the building is in is a Georgian street and very pretty. At the end of the road there are many Chinese takeaways...
