...Our school used this travel agent to go to china on the 3rd july this year using this travel agency, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Kuoni chose for us to go by Air China which was an excellent airline, some of us had our doubts about flying with them but they made a good choice in picking them, (you can read my review about Air China too). In china they chose an excellent four star hotel right in the middle of beijing, (opp. about the hotel is also available). The provided us with a coach down to london from newcastle and one for use in beijing with a tour guide, all of the meals were pre-payed and we were taken to many different restraunts. All of our visits were pre-payed, we went to places such as Tian an men square, Mao's Mauseleum the great wall and forbidden city and we went to many different places in the city of interest... Disadvantages: Terrible safety record, food horrific, poor piloting, absence of facecloths.

..., altough on my return the entertainment system was not working (better that than the undercarriage I suppose...). Airline food is rarely gourmet cuisine, but aboard Air China it is especially bad. The bread is sweet (God only knows why) and the drinks warm. You don't even get those lovely, hot, lemon-scented facecloths! Air China have one of the worst safety records for commercial flights in the world. ...I recently traveled with China Airlines so thought I would share my thoughts on them. Despite its name, this is the airline of Taiwan not China. In some countries it is called Mandarin Airlines. I traveled with China Airlines from Glasgow to Bangkok via Amsterdam. Amsterdam is their main European hub, depending on where you are connecting from the first flight will probably be with KLM UK. The main drawback with Amsterdam is the number of delays. I have experienced maybe a 30% delay rate frlying into or out of there. But China Airlines were on time leaving and arriving. The first leg - Glasgow to Amsterdam was on a Fokker regional jet, which is reasonably comfortable with legroom, seat size etc ( I am a six footer ) The main out leg was in an Boeing 747-400 with a standard passenger layout holding over 300 passengers. Advantages: Airplane is comfort, good duty free shopping centre in airport.
Disadvantages: Takes longer than average

...I love the emirates airline a lot, although I have only use this airline once. As an experience, I went back China by emirates airline. The whole journy takes me 17 hours, 7 hours to Dubai, then wait three hours in Dubai airport, and another 7hours to Beijing. This is about 4-5 hours longer than other airlines. BA and Air China takes 12 hours and other european Airlines takes 14-15 hours. On the Airplane. The service of Emirates airline is \'five-star\', staff treat passengers very nice. There are hundreds of movies I could choose from the program, most of them are quite new. Compare to Lufthansa, which is the most frequently airline I have been use, there was no choice in economic class, only one movie shows on the TV. It makes the long journal becomes much easier. The food is nice, easpecially the desert, I love that cake very much... Read review

...Olympics and Politics are inseparable. During the cold war era, US and Soviet camps used Olympics as a weapon. This year's Olympic was awarded to China with a political motive alone. China has emerged as a major World power in almost every fields and no country is able to counter weigh this. On top of this, China is not a Democratic nation and a communist nation. Olympics will help China come out into the open and be a part of the open world. This has far reaching economic, social, military, political effects. Issues like Tibet will be handled more humanly. The world will feel not threatened by rising China and diffuse tensions. It will help the world understand China better and accept the fact that China is a world power rather than swallow with pain! Boycotting the Olympics wil have no effect on China. Today the world needs China... Read review

Advantages: Check VISA and PASSPORT restrictions before travel
Disadvantages: Could spoilt a holiday of a lifetime, and cost you a fortune even if you have insurance

...Saudi Arabia Russia incl all ex russia states Australia China India Plus many more, so CHECK BEFORE YOU TRAVEL.Some visas can take three weeks to arrange!!.Some countries incl China also ask for Transit Visa even if your only changing palnes and have an hour on the ground!!! If you dont have a visa the above will also happen. I will also say if you ever been to Israel, and have had your passport stamped you will not be allowed into alot of other Middle east countries. So if your passport is due to expire within the next year , think about getting it renewed.Also remember the six month rule, if you passport expires within six months again CHECK THE RULES for all countries you are visiting. Advantages: Great Sights, Changing Culture.

...regular to the major cities, we went with China Air and it was fine, plenty of leg room in economy (important for me i'm 6' 2") and operated just like a normal airline in every respect. We flew from Heathrow. Filght time is about 10 hours London to Bejing and China is 8 hours ahead of the UK. The currency is the Yuan and todays exchange rate is 13.8 to the pound I had no problem getting this in a local travel agent. Upon arrival you are asked to fill in a few forms but customs and immigration were fine with no real questions or searches involved (unlike Cuba which blooming well is scary). I was met by the guide at the airport and whisked away on a coach to our hotel. ...I traveled on this excellent airline to beijing and back on the 3rd and 10th of july. There was lots of leg room, enough to strech out my legs fully and i wasnt at the front! the staff were very helpful and the meals i am surprised to say were very nice, the inflight entertainment was in chinese though! The drinks were very big, cans of coke weren't the usual mini cans they were chinese sized cans bigger than english ones. The seats were very comfortable and that was just in economy. I had a peak in to business and first class and they were even better, huge seats, loads of legroom, and built in tvs and very nice surroundings. The cabin crew were very helpful and spoke good english. And my favourite part, you could just go and get drinks at anytime during the flight for free like coffee and coke, my only complaint is that there was only... Read review

...Introduction I've read through most of the reviews on Beijing, but having lived in Beijing for ten years, first as a student, then working, I wanted to give a more personal and in-depth view. I hope that this will help to guide anyone that is planning to visit Beijing in the near future. If you are planning to go, then the first thing that you should do is buy a copy of the Lonely Planet Guide to China - I think there is even one that concentrates on Beijing - this provides invaluable information on places to viist, how to get around the city and has a language guide for emergencies. Getting there A number of airlines fly to Beijing. I recommend Air China, which is cheap, clean and direct. BA is frankly over-priced and Virgin Atlantic flies only to Shanghai. Advantages: Chinese New Year decoration.

...There is actually nothing very special about the China Town in Singapore. The main reason is that Singpore itself is dominated by Chinese, so, virtually most of the places in Singapore can be considered as China Town. Perhaps the only thing that is special about this China Town is during the Chinese New Year. During this festival, the buildings and the road will be dressed with colourful bulds featuring figure that is related to Chinese New Year, for example, the dragon and so on.
