My Mad Saw
Review of Power Devil Circular Saw by
andycharger
Advantages: Good saw for the money
Disadvantages: a bit dodgy to use. Feels like its gonna take my fingers off.
...The Power Devil range is good value for money in my opinion although I have had a problem with my circular saw.
I dont really like using it as its extremely dangerous in my opinion.
The reasoning behind this is the saw guard is made of a very flexible metal and can easily be bent out of shape. This happened on my saw and the blade is now exposed when you retract the guard before it is cutting.
Sometimes the guard is misaligned and makes contact with the blade and sparks do fly!
It is quite heavy for a small saw too. You really have to hang onto it to keep it under control. Not something for the novice to use and best not used unsupervised.
It does not follow lines too well either.
It tends to go off line far too easily. The guides are not very good and its hard to set up.
It comes with a very large toothed saw blade...

Good value saw
Review of Power Devil Circular Saw by
johnt
Advantages: Very good value, spare blade
Disadvantages: quality not too good
...I had wanted a saw with a deeper cut for some diy work. The saw would be used very infrequently so would need to be cheap enough to justify getting it.
Homebase stocked a small range of saws, Black & Decker, Bosch & Power Devils. The larger saws ranged from £45 - £130. All had similar features and blade size but the quality of construction did show in the price.
Working to a tight budget made the Power Devil my only real option. The cheapest comparable Black & Decker was another £40.
The saw has a 184mm blade which gives a cut depth of 55mm. It has adjustable depth and angle of cut. There is a rip fence and provision to fit a dust bag. It also came with a spare blade making it excellant value for money.
For £45 it is relatively well made and is fine for occassional use, however the more expensive ones were far better designed...

Don't Cut Your Fingers
Review of Power Devil Circular Saw by
tallguy
Advantages: accurate cutting
Disadvantages: none
...I'm pretty good at DIY, and have no problem tackling most jobs. However I have one major problem, I can't cut a piece of wood straight, I've even practiced cutting wood, but even so it always comes out wonkey.
I'm like silly bollocks, with an old hand saw, and to make it worst, my family take the piss, they've even nick-named me Mr Wonkey.
One day I was looking through the Argos, and I saw these Power Devil circular saws, for only £29.99. I knew that one of these tools would suit me down to the ground. So I purchased my new saw, and set to work on cutting some wood for a fence.
The saw cut through the wood like butter, and it was so fast, I was cutting my wood like no tomorrow.
When I first used it, it can be a bit hair-raising, as their is this big sharp blade whizzing round, but as long as you clamp the wood safely...

Blades, foils and circular saws
Review of Philips HQ 8160 Speed XL by
getscenic
Advantages: mains/battery with fast charge, 50 minute battery life
Disadvantages: tricky on/off switch
..., the on/off button sits just where your thumb rests on the body, this can be tricky until you get used to it as you tend to press your thumb down as you move the shaver over your face, and I did end up switching it off mid shave until I got used to it. The switch has a blue back light to it when switched on. Below the switch are the charge lights arranged in 5 descending bands, and now on its 3rd charge I would say about 40-50 minutes of shaving time is available from one charge.
The body of the shaver is finished in a nice dark blue colour with aluminium grip and rotor head surround. A small button on the front opens the hair chamber which is large enough to allow weekly cleaning.
The trimmer is located on the back of the shaver and is released by pushing down a retaining clip. It has a useful width and small saw action teeth witch deal...

Seen it? SAW it!!
Review of Saw Trilogy - Saw - Uncut/Saw 2/Saw 3 - Extreme Edition (Box Set) by
babyxdoll
Advantages: reasonably priced, great film, great plots
Disadvantages: not for the faint hearted
...For a girl of my age you may find it quite unusual for me to be reviewing this product as most of you are probably aware that it is very gruesome and gory. Despite this i love all three of the saws and it never fails to bring more blood and gore to the table. I received this as a gift from my dad because he knows how much i love them! I think he may of paid around 20 pound for them but it's well worth it.
-----Saw-----
The first one is set around a blooded up bathroom which has 2 men chained to piping in the bathroom. At the begining it shows you clips of what the murderer (jigsaw) has done to past victims, All of which test you wether or not you should live. The first saw basically shows you the idea behind the murderer and why he does it. he does it to people who don't appreciate what they have people like drug takers self harmers...

I Saw Saw
Review of Saw (Wide Screen) by
utero
Advantages: A novel idea, a few grusome scenes
Disadvantages: Poorly executed, resorts to cliches
...Every once in a while a small movie comes along that shakes up the genre. Saw is one of those movies, it generated a little word of mouth in the months before it’s release and was generally portrayed as a good movie with a decent premise.
You could call it the low budget version of Seven as it has a lot of comparisons to Fincher’s classic thriller. Two men awaken to find themselves in an old bathroom, each of them is chained to a pipe in opposite corners of the room. In the middle of the room lies a dead body. Both of the men can’t recall how they got there and both don’t know whom the other one is. Soon they are introduced to the warped mind of a killer known as Jigsaw. He is watching them at all times, each of them are given clues on how to escape but it would mean killing the other man. While this is going on we find out...
