A true MPV - Picasso Diesel
Review of Citroen Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDi LX by  leo85

Advantages: Practicality, Diesel engine, Huge boot, Driving position
Disadvantages: Plasticy interior trim, Wind Noise, Far too easy to speed!!

...Have just replaced my Volvo so time for my second review - I have just bought an X-reg year 2000 2.0 HDi Citroen Xsara Picasso, and I love it, so here goes! In early 2000 Citroen launched its first mini MPV to rival the popular Renault Scenic and Vauxhall Zafira. At launch it was available with a 1.6 8v or 1.8 petrol engine, or Citroen's 2.0 HDi diesel engine. It rapidly rose through the sales chart to become the highest selling mini MPV in the UK, a position it has remained despite new contenders, ever since. In its five years since launch it has become Citroens biggest selling model in the firm's history. In 2003 the model underwent a minor mid-life facelift to incorporate body-coloured door handles and side strips new wheel trims, and equipment upgrades. All Picassos come with five individual seats, with the rear three being... Read review

Avoid Tax - buy a Picasso
Review of Citroen Xsara Picasso VTX 1.6 110bhp by  trevorbrock

Advantages: Low tax rating with good specs
Disadvantages: Some think Picassos need a makeover now

...is virtually flat right through. There are several different storage places inside, the neatest being two large boxes under the rear passengers feet.! There is quite a good slide out box under the driver's seat. The battery sits under the front passenger seat, so there's not much room there. For comfort there is air-con, heated, electric mirrors, CD player, leather steering wheel and folding armrests up front. For safety, there is ABS plus fog lights, and plenty of air-bags. 4 Want A VTX ? There are those who think the Xsara Picasso range is a bit long in the tooth. Even Citroen themselves have been thinking that way, and are well on the way to producing a completely new range sometime later this year. However, I like the fact that this range is well tried and tested. The buyer benefits from the long run that the Picasso has enjoyed... Read review

Mt citroen Xsara Picasso
Review of Citroen Xsara Picasso by  chezzal1

Advantages: Raise the drivers seat up, lots of storage space
Disadvantages: have problems cleaning the roof, or scraping the windscreen if you are short

...I use to own a citroen saxo, and was never going to have a big car, I thrn had a child and my decsion was changed for me, I needed the extra space that the xsara picasso offered. You have the four door bins and a suitable size glove box, as well as the boot space, as do most cars, but when you look in the boot, on the passenger side you will find extra storage hidden, in which I can hide my St john ambulace bomber jacket, and because the boot has no lip, I don't have to lift my childs buggy over, I can slide it in level with my hips. Then in the back on the floor behind both the drivers and passengers seat are another two storage compartments, in which I can keep my car emergencey kit, plus the three seats in the back are all spilt and individual, with their own over the shoulder seat belts, (no lap belts hooray!!) the middle... Citroen Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDI SX (2001)
Review of Citroen Xsara Picasso by  tinas230

Advantages: Seat flexibility & movement, nice high driving position, cheap tax
Disadvantages: Side visibility, driving in windy conditions, back seatbelts

...breaking (a very small component with a big price of £475) and this can only be fixed by a Citroen dealer. Would I recommend a Picasso? Yes, I would. We have now bought a Mercedes M Class with 7 seats but it is no where near as luxurious and practical as the Picasso and I really miss being able to turn up my volume on the steering wheel when the kids start playing up!... Citroen Xsara Picasso
Review of Citroen Xsara Picasso by  james564

Advantages: Spacious, big boot, storage space, has its own shopping trolley
Disadvantages: Reflection from angle of windscreen, digital dashboard.

.....: Driving The Picasso :.. The driving position is good, the clutch is not too heavy, and the steering wheel height is adjustable, the gearstick is mounted on the dashboard so its higher than normal cars, it will take a bit of getting used to but it's alright once your are used to it. ..: Engine :.. My model is an SX so it has fog lamps, CD player and Air Conditioning as standard. The engine is a 1.8l, its top speed is 105mph and it can make 118bhp. The brakes are good as well. The car has power assissted brakes and power steering. It also has an average MPG of 35mpg ..: Storage Space :.. The boot is rather big and strapped to the side of it is a little fold away trolley! There is a pull out tray kind of thing under the drivers seat containing the car's hand book. In the rear of the car, on the floor is two little compartments... Read review

Citreon Picasso HDI
Review of Citroen Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDi LX by  kinbuck1

Advantages: Spacious, very comfortable, economical
Disadvantages: a bit underpowered

...I had a white 2.0HDI turbo diesel Picasso for 15 months back in 2001 and was really impressed with it. The Picasso is a slightly oddly styled compact MPV based on the Xsara hatchback. Its quite unique in shape and most drivers find that they either love or hate it. The Picasso seats 5 adults comfortably which is not quite as good as many of its competitors that can seat 7. The interior of the car is large and extremely roomy. There are loads of cuby holes stashed all over the cabin and throughout the vehicle making it ideal if you are using this as a family car. There are large cuby holes located under the rear passangers feet which is a unique and very clever idea. The back of the front seats have fold down tables attached which makes most rear passangers crack jokes that they feel like they are in an aeroplane! The boot... Read review

Citroen Xsara SX 110HDi
Review of Citroen Xsara 2.0HDi by  bobjord

Advantages: very economical, good performance, comfortable ride
Disadvantages: depreciation, fuel gauge, unnecessary rattles, build quality

...I've always driven diesel cars, and more to the point French diesel predominantly from Citroen and Peugeot [ntably the same company, PSA Group]. Having traded in my 1.9D Citroen ZX Avantage with 150, 000 miles on the clock, I was really looking forward to my first ever brand new car. My main requirements were safety and economy, two qualities the Citroen Xsara SX 110HDi has plenty of. The engine is great, really responsive and lacks the 'tractor sound and vibration' earlier incarnations of the common rail diesel had. Put your foot down, and it goes some, and more. Road handling/suspension is fine, ride 'comfortable', but what irritated me the most were annoying rattles and problems from the day it was driven out of the showroom. The worst was a widely inccurate fuel gauge [a common problem amoung Citroen Xsara owners... Read review

A Canvas for Picasso
Review of Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.6i Desire by  trevorbrock

Advantages: Space, comfort, cost and fun
Disadvantages: A wee bit thirsty in town; a couple of visibility problems

...Canvassing support for the Picasso from Citroen, is easy work. It is a distinctive car that speaks for itself. The number of reviews, and the positive nature of most of them, makes the point. But let me paint my own picture for you. ( Not a bit sorry for sick puns ! ) My Purchase = I was changing from a Fiat Punto, and unkind commentators may suggest anything would be an improvement.! However, I have had a number of Primeras, Bluebirds, Marinas and such like, so I know the big cars, as well as the small. This Picasso was 6 months old, so nearly new. It was around the £9000 mark, though I wanted alloys and paid for Citroen's own set, which was a few hundred extra. The car is in black, and is the 1.6 Desire edition. My Drive = Squeezing my oversize, 6' 2" frame into any car, tests its interior space... Read review

Blancmange by looks, Blancmange by nature
Review of Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.6 HDi Exclusive by  markd_uk

Advantages: Great load space, comfortable, hugely economical
Disadvantages: Looks rubbish, cheaply built interior, visibility when parking

...several Citroëns and their modern-day offerings hold as much fascination for me as their ancestors. The C4's translucent dashboard is excellent, as is the fixed-boss on the steering wheel that means the centre never moves but the wheel rotates around it. The C6, their flagship, is large and gregarious and is fitted with a dashboard that wouldn't feel out of place in the control room of NASA. Even the new C5 has its own quirky features, not least of all the current advertising campaign that's trying to convince customers it's German. So when I had the chance to drive the Citroën Picasso recently, I jumped at it. I thought it was going to be the new model, complete with angular corners and modern French styling that all comprise to make this mid-sized MPV as attractive as a lump of Toblerone. I was really looking forward to seeing how... Read review

So impressed, we bought another one
Review of Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.6 HDi Exclusive by  cwestern

Advantages: Comfortable, versitile, spacious, practical & economical
Disadvantages: Not pretty, some restriction in visibilty due to intrusive door pillar

...My first review was written about our then new Citroen Xsara Picasso in March 2004. The car was a 1.8 Petrol engined model, and the review was a glowing one. The performance was adequate given that a buyer of this type of car is unlikely to want to be burning up the road. The economy was good and the really strong points were comfort and space. By the end of 2006 the car was approaching three years old. In that time, fuel consumption had been consistently in the high thirties (38 ish). The car had been in the garage only for its annual services and for one recharge of the air conditioning system. It had taken me, my wife and Father-in-Law around Northern Spain and France on the couple of occasions and done everything asked of it without missing a beat. The only snag we had was a salutary lesson to us all to carry spare bulbs. We lost... Read review
