City Inn Manchester
Review of City Inn, Manchester by
blaaboy
Advantages: Location, service, food
Disadvantages: Small rooms
...I have been a regular to this hotel over the past two years and I have never been disappointed. The hotel is conviently located across from the main train station and only a 2 minute walk to the centre of the city - Piccadilly Gardens.
The staff have always been helpful through my stays. The decor is contemporary and the rooms are finished to a high standard. Every room comes equiped with an Apple desktop computer with free internet acess - a nice touch. Fixture and fitting are all of a high spec and clean throughout. My only grip perhaps is that all the rooms are quite small.
The hotel bar is again contemporary in style, but is comfortable and has a good number of guests in the evenings. Breakfast was of a high standard with excellent service and a great selection of hot and cold foods.
All in all, a great place to stay!...

The Inn Is Out
Review of Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Whitbread Travel Inns / Metros by
LostWitness
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: Basic
.... Any praise or criticism that you may have of one hotel will almost certainly be mirrored in another.
THE BRAND
There are now three different varieties of Travel Inn.
Normal Travel Inns can be found at various locations around the country, normally adjacent to, or very near main roads and motorways. Each Travel Inn is located next to a Whitbread group restaurant – e.g. TGI Friday, Brewsters – and offers bed and breakfast for £42.95 per room per night. This is a considerable saving over most hotel chains, and is a standard price offered regardless of the time of year or day of the week. Most Travel Inns are realistically only accessible by car.
Travel Inn Metro is a relatively recent addition the range, and comprises 36 Travel Inn hotels, all located in city centre locations. The premise is fundamentally the same – they still have...

Jurys Inn Nottingham
Review of Jurys Inn Nottingham by
evina25
Advantages: Economical, clean, modern, good value for money
Disadvantages: No hotel car park
...LOCATION
Jurys Inn Nottingham is located between bridge over the river and a water channel on the London Road , southeast of the city centre, close to the railway station and within a two-minute walk of the tramway system.
First Impression
On arrival to the Jurys Inn in Nottingham city centre, me and my partner were greeted by a modern, quite impressive looking, 8-floors high building. Although the building looks a little unfinished, the reception area looked spotless and shiny marble flooring as well as dimmed lightning and colour scheme added to a very glamorous look. The receptionist welcomed us and checked us in in a fairly informal manner. Unfortunately, we were not given any directions on how to get to our room, where the hotel facilities are or any restaurant/bar opening times.

Premier stay by far
Review of Premier Travel Inn Manchester - CIty Centre (MEN Arena), Manchester by
KELLYLOUJ
Advantages: Ideal Location for Manchester City Centre
Disadvantages: Limited free parking
...A real good nights sleep this was what I had when I stayed at the Manchester Premier Travel Inn MEN Arena.
My friend and I had booked tickets to see Will Young in concert and as a Travel Agent I always seem to get lumbered with the travel arrangements such as the hotel, this time though I wanted something close to the event that was warm and cheerful, I normally stay at the Travelodge on Deansgate but this time it was all booked up and I didn't fancy trying to get a taxi at the end of the concert or walking for miles in heels either so I had a look on the Travel Inn website only to discover it had rebranded as the Premier Travel Inn.
~**Brief Update**~
Travel Inn and Premier Lodge recently merged to become Premier Travel Inn, claiming to be the UK's Leading value Hotel Company.
The reason for this merge was to try and compete...

City Inn - a hidden gem.
Review of City Inn, Birmingham by
rickyshah
Advantages: Price, features of room, location
Disadvantages: err... food is a bit bland and pricey
...I think I spend far too much time in hotels, and can be quite demanding. That said, it is with pleasure I report that the City Inn in Birmingham is a hidden gem.
Location
The hotel is located in the trendy Brindley Place development just off Broad Street in Birmingham, and as such is ideally situated for pubbing, clubbing and general merriment and yet being secluded (for a city) enough for a bit of peace and quiet. Brindley Place itself is home to a variety of trendy bars and restaurants including the (in)famous Bank and various luxury apartments. It's a mainly pedestrianised area, and is easily accessible by foot bus or train from New Street station. The majority of other hotels in the area are located directly on Broad Street, which can be quite noisy with the drunken hordes clamouring around after about 10pm. Mind you don't get...

City Inn in de city
Review of City Inn, Bristol by
Discobunny
Advantages: Clean, modern, fantastic shower, huge bed.
Disadvantages: Small towels, terrible trouser press (aren't they all?)
...If you like your basic hotel room to feature chrome fittings, crisp modern white linen, power shower, satellite TV and a comfy sofa to watch it from, then The City Inn will be right up your street.
Having recently stayed in the Bristol City Inn on a Saturday night (for the average and fairly reasonable £51.50 for a double room), I walked into the room expecting somewhere basic and in true hotel style, lacking any evidence of good taste. However, I was pleasantly surprised, because although fairly straightforward, the room was nicely done, with inoffensive décor and a fresh, new, modern feel. Although this wouldn’t win the establishment any design awards, the atmosphere was light, airy, and more uplifting than a room full of chintz, and yet more thoughtful and comfortable than a den of 80s chrome, harsh colours and stark...

Manchester Hotel
Review of Holiday Inn Express Manchester - Salford Quays, Manchester by
bekibek08
Advantages: Godd value
Disadvantages: none
...Holiday Inn Express Salford Quays is situated in a very nice location on the waterfront, my room looked out over the renovated canals and docklands which was good.
We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who was very helpful in giving us local information and directions. All the staff were helpful and friendly ( even when we managed to lock ourselves out of our room!)
The room was modern and very clean with plenty of coffee, cups , towels etc
Breakfast was as good - plenty of seating, nice dining room, and good length of hours on the Sunday morning in which to get it.
Location-wise, it's about 14 minutes on the Metrolink tram from Manchester Piccadilly station on the Eccles line, and from there about a 4-minute walk. Taxi from the city cost us £10 late on Saturday evening, as the Metrolink finishes at 12.30am.
Overall I...

Premier, not perfect
Review of Premier Travel Inn Manchester - City Centre (GMEX), Manchester by
hiker
Advantages: Location, customer service
Disadvantages: Electrical faults, noise
...the usual details, dates, number of people, credit card details to guarantee the booking (payment will be taken on arrival) and you will instantly receive an on-screen confirmation and, hot on its heels, an e-mail back-up. If you've opted for the service you can also have your booking confirmed by SMS to your mobile phone - a handy way of being sure you'll have your booking reference with you if you need it. They will even text you on the day of arrival to ask if you want to reserve a table for dinner.
LOCATION, LOCATION:
We were in Manchester for a gig at the football ground in Old Trafford. Not being totally confident of having secured the tickets, I'd been too reticent about booking accommodation for the night and couldn't get anything (at any price) in Old Trafford itself. The next option was to aim for somewhere close to our city...

Get a City Card if you live in Manchester
Review of City Card Manchester by
paulkinder07
Advantages: Great product, easy to use and good value for money
Disadvantages: only usable in Manchester
...As a relative newcomer to Manchester in recent months, I was extremely happy to find out about the City Card scheme from a work mate. We were meeting clients for lunch in the city centre, and he passed me the City Card membership guide and asked me to book a restaurant of my choice from the list.
When I asked him what it was all about he revealed that you use the City Card to get discounts at restaurants around the city. Upon further investigation on the website I noticed that there were many other benefits included in the membership including the following
@Bar offers (normally 25-50% range, or two for one on drinks / food etc)
@Cinema, comedy and theatre tickets at 2 for price of 1
@Upto £10 per month off gym membership at several good health clubs around town
@25-50% off at some really good salons and health spas...

Ramada Plaza & Inn - New Yorker
Review of Ramada Plaza & Inn-New Yorker Hotel, New York City by
steph1705
Advantages: Centrally located, Fantastic concierge service, Airport Transfer can be arranged
Disadvantages: Located in the Garment District Credit Card takes a beating.
...Our second honey was going to be one to remember. I was gobsmacked walking through the revolving doors into the Ramada Plaza & Inn - New Yorker Hotel, New York City. We had expected something quite shabby as it was a last minute deal through expedia.co.uk whilst sitting in Manchester Airport waiting for our flight to arrive. (Talk about last minute).
The hotel can arrange airport transfers in the form of a limousine service, they cover JFK Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Newark and LGA. The cars range from a comfortable 4 seater limousine to an overside SUV limousine. Of course this is at a price, it ranges from $65.00 to $110.00 (£35.00/40.00 to £60.00/70.00) not too expensive they will display your name on a board, taking the hassle out of waiting for taxi's.
We arrived quite late at night, the Lobby was immaculately clean...
