...If you thought Red Alert 2 was good, then I recomend you play this excellent game. Since playing the original Red Alert on Playstation, I have been a Command and Conquer fan. It really took hold when I eventually got around to owning Red Alert 2 on PC. Generals is in a sense an updated version of the Red Alert series (unlike tiberian series of games, too futuristic for me!). The graphics are better, the gameplay is better and yet it has not lost the Command and Conquer feel. It has retained some of the better qualities of Red Alert 2 such as the ranking/ veteran system, coupling this with the much improved graphics, new units and updated story ( it has moved away from Russia vs USA cold war type) combines for hours of fun. ...One of the major differences from this and all other command and conquers is the fact that it has a 3d engine allowing supreme realism and playability. It offers many more units than its predaceous. Most units and buildings have little but exciting upgrades for example you can upgrade your tanks to have a small bit of anthrax in each shell. Little touches like that make the overall quality of the game better. Instead of most other command and conquers there are 3 different sides instead of the usual 2.Graphics are really amazing throughout weather your firing off a shell or using a nuclear bomb super weapon! Missions are well thought out, interesting and gripping. Myself i prefer the skirmish mode as you can play from a variety of maps with different terrains such as snow, desert and green lands. ...INTRO: It took long enough but it finally happened, the Command and Conquer series, spanning 9 years already and topping the pc game charts in 1996 with Red Alert has gone 3d. But this isnt the rushed kind of 3d which is merely an improvement over the previous game, no the differences between the previous c&c(red alert 2) and this game are huge. First of all the game is 3d, but it has embraced 3d and special effects with an unprecedented bear hug bringing us a stunning game engine which has the capability to produce some stunning effects. ...INTRO: I refer to My review of Command and Conquer Generals, there I stated that Generals was a flawed gem, a game capable of being the best strategy game of the year, period. However it was bogged down with technical problems and a somewhat bad single player option. Now heres where Zero hour comes into it because Zero hour is everything Generals should have been and much, much more. Firstly theres the much improved interface, there are now superweapon limit options and money options, these add variety to the play, there are also minor additions that you may not notice short term but are a great improvement in the long run. GRAPHICS: The graphics in Zero Hour have not much changed from the original, theyre still gorgeous and spectacular, in fact there some improvements, but none that are incredibly significant... ...there is alot of stratergy but you need to have a vague plan in your head and a few tricks up up your sleve to make it and interesting game b ut the more fun way is where you just have all out war. Yee you have to have windows XP because there is an add on for C&C Generals which is called C&C Zero Hour where you get better units ect and you may need a fair bit of memory to run the game and a good graphics card and if you have all that good on you and i hope you enjoy the game. ...). For those familiar with Command and Conquer; C&C 1, Red alert, 2, Generals, etc. there will be a familiar feel to this strategy game. For those not familiar with the C & C series, you will soon get the hang of it. The title 'Tiberium Wars' is related to the fact that one has to 'mine' Tiberium to use in production of everything, its like a future coal or oil, but much, much more toxic. Essentially you choose to be one of three factions/armies; GDI (goodies), The Brotherhood of NOD (baddies), and a new faction, SCRIN, aliens. There is not too much new about the concept, but a fair few new ideas in game, new vehicles, weapons etc. The game is set in the future and you have a choice of playing a campaign as one of the factions, skirmish, which is essentially a one off battle campaign, or online against players across the globe.
