...I was determind to go green this time and after reading the reviews decided to go for the Cotton bottoms as my main system (supplemented by a few Totsbots because I wanted them!). As I was determind I decided to go for the Birth to Potty pack from Boots as it seemed good value and although I was going to wait until baby was born - couldn't resist when the triple points offer came up!) I was able to buy a new baby monitor with my £36 worth of points! As a prefold they are more 'complicated' than some out there, but complicated is a bit too strong a word as after a couple of nappies it was easy, full instructions are included. The paper liners do the trick, making sluicing unnecessary in most instances. Mummy gets these nesting feelings, feels suddenly she has to get EVERYTHING all ready, adn suddenly, minor spills, dirt stains, or environmental issues mean dissater is lurking towards her soon to be born babe. A wise person goes along with it, and does not raise the ire of the fearsome Mummy creature! Thus, when I insisted I was sure we needed more cloth nappies, he who pays knew better than to disagree. Yup, that HUGE rubbish sack full might not be enough... I wanted quick to dry, even indoors. I wanted soft, absornbent , easy to use. I wanted cheap so I could buy even more baby goodies! ...After using only disposables for my first child and thinking anyone who used washables was mad I have had a revelation with these nappies. My partner was desperate to use washables and I agreed to try them if he washed them! But I wouldn't use anything else now. I tried Kushies first and they leaked but hey ho I tried a starter pack of cotton bottoms (12 cotton nappies, 3 wraps and a roll of liners) free with my botts points and was amazed. No leaks, no nappy rash and with a mesh bag in the bucket no handling soggie nappies. I am now delighted he suggested it and am a real convert. I have used them for 5 months now and they cope well with my baby boy even overnight. As others have explained the liner is next to the babies skin and is flushable but doesn't work too well until your baby is weaned then the cotten nappy. The boy fold... Read review

If your problem is at night time, you can put a smaller sized nappy (normally two sizes down from the one you are using) inside the bigger nappy although this normally tends to happen with much older toddlers (12 months +). *** BUYING/WASHING YOURSELF *** You can buy from Boots a birth to potty pack by Cotton Bottoms for £269.10. This appears a lot but when you work out the cost of disposables for this period of time, taking into account you get less nappies for your money as your baby grows, it's a bargain! On top of this, you can use them for all the children you have in the future. This includes all the different sized wraps, nappies, changing bag, swimming wrap, nappy pail, with some liners and nappy soak to get you started. Other makes such as Bambino offer similar packages. ...The Cotton Bottoms range has actually been discontinued as of late last year due to the government withdrawing their financial assistance (making it no longer as profitable for companies to manufacture reusable nappies as it previously was). They're still available in very large quantities to purchase second hand as well as new from alternative stockists (such as Amazon) due to their having only recently been taken off the market so coupled with the universal nature of these nappy systems, hopefully some people will still find this a helpful review. ...We used a nappy service initially, to see if we really would be able to use re-usable nappies, and very quickly we decided to buy the Cotton Bottoms Birth to Potty Pack. We shopped around and got it for 10% off and 12% of the discounted price in store points, too. If we'd had any sense, we would also have reclaimed the "incentive" money back from the council, but we weren't organised enough at the time. Anyway, they were excellent. Our large breastfed baby did large explosive liquid poos, and the wraps always caught the leaks - she only leaked when in disposables. Later, when things became more solid, she only leaked when she tried to take the nappies off. They are very easy to wash and dry, and they never dry too hard to use on a newborn's skin, because the flat fabric is smooth not rough. The wipes, nappy bucket and liners... Read review
