Hotel da Aldeia, to provide it's full title, was built in the traditional local style with large terraces overlooking the gardens and two sizeable swimming pools surrounded by gardens, tennis court, mini golf and childrens playground. The hotel has 128 bedrooms and 5 suites, all with balcony, air conditioning, heating, Satellite TV, direct phone and individual safe. Housekeeping services are provided daily, to re-make beds and freshen up towels. Advantages: Quiet, relaxed, small hotel with high standards, efficient friendly staff
Disadvantages: Lacking excitement for a younger crowd.

..."Welcome to the Hotel Santa Rita, such a lovely place, such a lovely face..." So sing the restaurant staff to the tune of the Eagles hit "Hotel California." And indeed they are correct, even if their singing is atrocious. The hotel complex itself is smaller than the average at 55 rooms, yet at no time does it feel claustrophobic or crammed in. In fact if anything this adds to its charm and friendly character. Situated in small well kept gardens within the complex that also contains the outdoor restaurant/bar, pool, Ayervedic clinic (for massage or traditional therapies) and a crepe restaurant. The rooms are airy and clean. Ours contained a small kitchen area with a sink and fridge stocked with water, beer and soft drinks. A ceiling fan in each room and an air conditioner as well in the bedroom. There was also a small TV in the corner... Read review

...I have not had to sleep at airports all that often - either in the terminal, nor nearby. After all, if you are flying out of Belfast, home is never that far from either of our airports. However, a recent long-haul flight from Heathrow required arrival in terminal 2 at around 4.00 am. With a journey to South America ahead there was no chance of trying to make do with a kip on a terminal seat. We needed a good hotel nearby. 1 Booking As a regular customer of Pigsback.com and a points holder with the Holiday Inn group, there was nothing to compare for price with booking the room on the Pigsback link to Holiday Inn. While Holiday Inn guarantee the best price online, Pigsback offer a 1500 point deal which equates to another £15 discount. The only downside to the hotel was the price, rooms start from £100.00 and rise up to £170.00 for the top suites, which is quite expensive. In total there are 37 rooms at the hotel so there is lots of variety to choose from and this is shown in the price you pay. On the whole I thought it was a very nice hotel, the food in the restaurant is fantastic and the bar at the front is great to unwind in when the weather is nice because you can sit outside. Advantages: Leonardo's birthplace

...not really changed much since those days and this is reflected in landscape drawings that he produced in his youth which are dispayed here. Entrance is free but there's not really a lot to justify charging anyone for anyway! Also, the drive along the torturous route to get here is a little hair-raising. IN CONCLUSION, I though Vinci was a charming little village in its own right, but the association with Da Vinci is what brings the tourists in. Having said that, it wasn't crowded at all, although I imagine it could get that way. Although there are a couple of hotels in the area, it's not somewhere I'd choose to spend the night. It's more of a day-trip type of place, and being less than an hour from Florence or Pisa, it's easy enough to get to. I would say that if you had little or no interest in Leonardo da Vinci, then there's little... Read review

...Stopped in this hotel last August and was very satisfied with the overall experience.The hotel is within walking distance from the main railway termini which is ideal for the half hourly service to da vinci airport,although a taxi from the termini is recommended if arriving at night.Check in was easy,the lobby is very small so felt a little cramped when there was a few people around.The staff were very friendly and helpful when asked for directions to the main visitor sites.The beautiful opera house is opposite,also the main ancient roman sites are within walking distance ie coloseum,trevi fountain,pantheon,spanish steps,forum.The room was in need of a refurb but was a good size and very clean and tidy,the shower was over the bath but worked brilliant,the bed was big and very comfy.The air con worked great which is needed if you visit... Is the highest mountain (300 m only) near Lisbon and at the same time it's close to Cascais and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean coast. This proximity to the ocean gives to Sintra its only microclimate, foggy and wet, with a mystic touch, no matter what. That's why Sintra is such an exuberant place, where everything is green and fresh throughout the year. ...The 4-star Hotel Da Vinci lies just on the other side of the River Arno from the town centre of Empoli. It's an easy walk from the hotel to all that the town has to offer, unfortunately that's not really an awful lot. On the plus side, it's an easy hotel to find - exit the superstrada 67 (or FI-PI-LI, Firenze-Pisa-Livorno) at either the Empoli east or west junction, follow the by-pass to the bridge, and turn right (or left) for Vinci. In case those instructions are too hard to follow, it's signposted all the way from the SS67 exit. Hotel Da Vinci is ideally situated for visiting some of the major attractions of Tuscany, being a 20-minute drive from Florence, 5 minutes further from Pisa, and around an hour from Sienna.
