This gym is no longer a gym!!!
Review of David Lloyd Clubs, Milton Keynes by
leefree
Advantages: More children, no equipment, more expensive food, less changing areas
Disadvantages: They'll probably still make loads of money - vote with your feet people!!!
...These reviews above cannot be current!!
David Lloyd is turning into a cafeteria with few a pieces of gym equipment attached to it.
They have no respect for members requirements, and after 3 months of training in a building site (as part of the appalingly managed "refurb") - I've now been told have to start paying more money for the priveledge. For my extra money I will get inferior gym equipment (cardio machines are replaced with technogym equipment that doesn't work) and squash courts with craters in them!!!.
After I trawl through the hoardes of children (in the new childrens area that I'm paying for) and pay 100% markup for food that is poor at best. (Red bulld £2.20!!!) I cannot even train anymore!
If you want to do is get fit DO NOT join this gym - it COULD be so good but this gym is all about taking your hard earned cash. David...

Would you live it a house like that
Review of BBC1 - Through the Keyhole by
Louise90
Advantages: See famous people's homes
Disadvantages: none
...'Through The Keyhole', presented by David Frost, is a show where 3 celebrities have to guess who lives in the house Lloyd Groseman is looking round.
The lucky man gets to wander round virtually the whole of the house of another famous person. The audience and people at home get to see who lives in it, but the 3 at the panel don't. It's interesting to see them put their detective hat on, and decypher the clues which Lloyd has given them.
There's 2 famous people per show whom's homes are being looked in and around by millions of viewers. I've only ever come across one person on the panel who had already been in one of the houses, so didn't want to take part in that one! (There could be more instances though!).
It's an interesting show, and I'm always interested in seeing how the other half lives, and how they conduct their lives...

the cricket reporter rules
Review of The Evening Standard by
jellabear
Advantages: get a lot for your money
Disadvantages: I don't get it very often because don't live in London
...I have started reading the evening standard and one thing that I found very interesting was the cricket reporter, David Lloyd he writes the reports very good and I am all round impressed with it. The truth is David Lloyd is my dad but I think that he has a very good job writing for the evening standard. Although it does have its down sides because my dad has to go away over the winter to report on england's tour, but we sometimes get to go as well and it is cool because we stay in the same hotel as the cricketers. I think that the evening standard is a very good newspaper and I am very proud to say my dad reports for them....

Status Symbol rather than a Gym
Review of David Lloyd Clubs, Heston, London by
arayet
Advantages: Good family atmosphere, decent equipment & facilities
Disadvantages: Expensive, Facilities management below par, gym staff lack enthusiasm
...David Lloyd Heston Gym is fairly new, the entire facility is well equipped and designed, a friendly family atmosphere. The members area is equipped with comfortable three piece leather suites and arm chairs, with plasma screen TV's, and free internet. There's also a Café serving a decent menu and alcoholic drinks. The gym itself has all the modern equipment one would expect, two heated swimming pools, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.
A major flaw with David Lloyd Heston is that they are more geared towards recruiting new members rather then looking after their existing members. The subscription fees have increased again but the gym is the same, no new equipment, no extra staff or lockers. During peak hours lockers are pretty much taken or unusable (broken locks), wait your turn for gym equipment, and expect to queue up for showers and so...

Friendly and not too many fitness freaks
Review of David Lloyd Clubs, Edinburgh by
keavy
Advantages: Friendly, but unobtrusive
Disadvantages: Expensive
...Having never been near a gym in my life, last month I decided it was about time. I had a look round a couple of places near me and decided on David Lloyd (mainly because of the offer for my Company!)
I have to say I'm more than pleasantly surprised. I was welcomed, but not made to feel "new" or "unfit" or "out of place". I has a gym induction - which I was very nervous about (but no nasty questions were asked) and got a fitness regime set out for me.
Nervously I went back the next day to have a go (and thought that everyone would be watching - but they weren't) and actually enjoyed myself. I now find myself there about 3 times a week - which makes me feel better about the money I'm spending on it.
Overall it's a lovely club, with an average age of 40ish, but plenty of oldies (which make me feel good about myself).
Nice bar meals...

MRS ELLIE MILTON
Review of David Lloyd Clubs, Raynes Park, London by
ellie123456
Advantages: any advantages are cancelled off by their bad attitude
Disadvantages: closed down pool in summer!
...They closed down the main swimming pool in the entire month of August over school holidays and didn't even put a notice up. Me and my daughter got changed and ready to dive in only to find the pool's doors closed. Not a single sign all the way up there. Worst day of my life with a screaming upset toddler.
We only ever used it for swimming so I thought I was right to ask for a month's refund at least. They didn't even bother replying. So I cancelled my membership without giving the 3-month notice.
Within weeks, there were debt collectors at our door! Not a single call from them, no sales pitch to try to keep us or no gestures to offer a refund, nothing! Just the debt collectors! That's outrageous! I will never in my life ever set my foot in another David Lloyd again and nor will any other member of my family....

Great gym
Review of David Lloyd Clubs, Manchester by
rogue
Advantages: Located close to the Trafford Centre, adequate parking, great facilities
Disadvantages: Bar service a bit slow, gym can get a bit full at times
...Located a few minutes from the Trafford Centre, the David Lloyd Leisure club, formally the Manchester Racquets & Healthtrack Club, has excellent facilities, both on a fitness level and on a social level.
The gym is marvellous, in a large area overlooking the swimming pool and has many of the top range exercise equipment available, handily arranged according to the type of exercise you want to do.
Upon joining, you can be assessed by one of the many professional advisors, who will provide you with a personal fitness plan, according to what you want out of the gym, be it to lose weight, gain weight or just stay trim.
The facilities for racquets sports are fantastic, with quality squash courts, badminton courts, and numerous tennis courts, both indoor and outdoor. Professional training for all these are available, from beginner level...
