Real POWER for all
Review of bmjdirect.com by
CraigBruce
Advantages: Cheaper than most DIY barns, Dependable name behind them
Disadvantages: Reconditioned items not to everyone's taste
...At last, *real* power tools online and on the high street.
You may have seen BMJDirect on the high street, well, they are online as well. BMJDirect, for those that haven't heard of them before, were formed from a management buyout of Black & Decker's service department. As such, you can still expect to find a wide range of warranty return B&D products for sale.
But that's just where things start. Alongside the revitalised (and fully guaranteed) B&D products selling for a fraction of their new price, you will find new products from De Walt (the professional side of B&D), Makita, Bosch, Trend, Flymo, Kress, Draper etc. In fact, most of the big names you would expect to find in any DIY/tool store.
In the past year alone, I have bought the following through BMJDirect:
- DeWalt Jigsaw
- DeWalt Electric Planer
- DeWalt Router
- B&D Garden...

Hey! Don't touch my screw gun.
Review of Dewalt DW995K2 by
CRITEEKER
Advantages: Solid work horse, many applications, bright yellow
Disadvantages: Extra or replacement batteries can get pricey.
...Here, in the States, we call cordless drill/drivers, "Screw Guns."
I don't know if any of you are aware of this, but DeWalt was purchased by Black & Decker years back. B & D realized that their products were cheap - low-end tools and they had world-wide recognition. DeWalt was (only until a few years ago) a small French company that made high-end shop and industrial tools with no recognition to the general public.
After the merger, DeWalt kept the name and was making higher end power and cordless tool for tradesmen. After all, what REAL contractor have you EVER seen with Black & Decker power tools?
I purchased my DeWalt DW995KS-2 (the 2 standing for two batteries) combo kit about 4 years ago at Home Depot. I was so jazzed that I thought I had the best cordless kit out there. Afterall, I had nothing but problems with the triggers...

A budget price and good performance......
Review of Dewalt DW400 by
demondog
Advantages: Reliable, Durable, Flexibile, Powerful, Long Warranty
Disadvantages: Few extra's, Basic Model, Adequate Performance
........won't be found here.
Face it. None of the DeWalt range is cheap. Frankly your buying professional tools with excellent warrantys and proven durability. The DW400 is no exception.
This doesn't say anything about performance though and disappointngtly the DW400 comes with so few extras you have to spend a substantial amount more over your purchase fprice to bne able to really put it through its paces. It's difficult to put into words but i felt i should have had a little more for my hard earned readies. OK, it performs adequately, its sufficient and i know we've the famous reliability but i can't help felling i should have forked out the extra money for the 402?...

Who Let The Dogs Out
Review of 102 Dalmatians (Wide Screen) by
emu128
Advantages: Funny
Disadvantages: Not as good as the first one
...Once again a great film from 'Walt Disney'. This time with 102 dalmations, not 101! The film itself was outstanding, really great! Again with 'Glenn Close' playing the evil part of Cruella DeVil and many characters from the first film. The film is a great laugh like the first one and I highly recommend it for a 1 to see at the cinema. The plot this time is mainly the same, but Cruella DeVil has just been let out of prison for her dog napping before, for her love of fur. She seems to have been cured and now even has a love for these cute, cuddly creatures until she starts to miss her fur coats from previous years before. Then she plans another evil plan like before and the adventure continues. I wouldn't recommend anyone to pay for a cinema ticket if they haven't seen the previous film-'101 Dalmations.' You should see the first one before...

DEWALT-The Industrial Drill
Review of Dewalt DW914K2 by
PeterFarrell
Advantages: Reliable, easy to use, quick recharge, two speed, 13mm keyless chuck, forward/reverse facility, many different torque settings. Meant for Industrial use.
Disadvantages: Heavy, but well balanced, can cause wrist ache if used a lot.
...DeWalt are a company more associated with the professional or industrial side of the tools market. I recently started work as a Cabinet Maker and needed a reliable, heavy duty and long lasting cordless drill/screwdriver. My boss advised me to buy a DeWalt drill as it would hopefully be a long lasting and heavy duty drill.
I went ahead with it and followed his advice and bought a DeWalt DW914K2 14.4 Volt Cordless Drill/Screwdriver. This drill costs approximately £253 (including VAT). This seems a lot compared to drills you may see in cotalogues and many tool shops, but they tend to be the DIY drills for light use.
The 14.4V drill appears big and bulky, and although it is fairly heavy at 2.1kg it is well balanced unlike many drills. You can easily line up the drill to drill a straight and accurate hole, asit is fairly square on the top...

Squids In
Review of The Squid And The Whale DVD by
afy9mab
Advantages: Committed performances of a truthful script.
Disadvantages: Some technical issues and it covers old ground.
...A bohemian family falls apart in mid-80s Brooklyn. Bernard and Joan are both writers, but while her star is in the ascendant, his is on the wane. As their bickering reaches its height, Joan asks for a divorce and Bernard demands joint custody of their two sons. So Walt and Frank split their weeks between their mother and father, while trying to deal with their confusion and conflicting feelings. Far from keeping their lives on an even keel, the custody arrangements tear the boys apart. Walt hero-worships his dad and starts to become like him, parroting all his ideas and opinions as if they were his own, while Frank acts out in a more anti-social manner.
Writer-director Noah Baumbach is a brave man, basing his film on his own experiences when his parents split up. Still, I suppose it's cheaper than therapy. It's yet another...

Hooked from Start to Finish
Review of Lost by
basboy138
Advantages: Great entertainment - keeps you thinking
Disadvantages: Leaves me with a lot of questions
....
The group soon split in 2. One group stays on the beach, and the other goes inland to some caves with fresh water, although they still have a lot to do with each other. They work as a team to solve problems, for example hunting, collecting water, and exploring.
Soon, they pick up a transmission from someone, but the transmission is 16 years old. Sayid, one of the group, finds the french woman, Danielle, who sent these transmissions.
The group are devastated when one of their group, Boone, is killed, but delighted when Claire has a baby boy. However, when Danielle steals the baby to offer him to "the others", things get a little frantic. The baby is soon recovered though, although Danielle still talks about "the others" wanting the boy.
The group build a raft to try to escape, and four of them leave the island - 3 men and a boy, Walt. Walt...

Be a kid for a fortnight
Review of Disney World (Florida) by
pabdesign
Advantages: Covers every age with great entertainment
Disadvantages: The park is getting that large you need a fortnight to cover it.
...I first went to Disney World Florida about 20 years ago, and have loved it ever since to the point where I chose to go there on honeymoon, after all you get the most out of it if you don’t take children! Children have grown up with Power Rangers to Pokemon, and probably wouldn’t know Captain Hook if he bristled their barnacles.
If you’ve never been it’s the perfect place to behave like a six year old and get away with it, there’s that sort of atmosphere there, for example I queued for 45 minutes for a photo with Cruella DeVil and nobody laughs at you, or sneers in that snobby way we all know. As soon as you go in there is an atmosphere of fun and carefree abandonment.
The rides get better and better each time I go back, as is the nature with theme parks, but you can clearly see the extra money that the Walt...

Equally Useful For Demolition
Review of Dewalt SDS 566K Rotary Hammer Drill by
BNibbles
Advantages: The power to destroy as well as create!
Disadvantages: SDS drill-only.
...There’s something about a yellow-and-black power tool that makes you look the part. Maybe it’s because a lot of building site gear is that colour. I now notice on a recent visit to Homebase that JCB, (yes, THEM!) are launching a range of power tools in guess what colours.
The DeWalt SDS Plus Rotary Hammer Drill is one such piece of kit. Price-wise it’s definitely at the top-end of the amateur price range at £155 from Screwfix, so it has to be that bit more useful to justify the price.
I was in the process of rebuilding the kitchen when I had a long hard look at my existing arsenal of power tools. The prospect of knocking another load of holes for electrical points using a hammer-action drill to mark out the perimeters and a cold chisel to do the rest filled me with no pleasure whatsoever.
Then, whilst looking through...
