...It’s January, it’s cold and my mind is starting to wander aimlessly in search of golden sands, sunshine, warmth and good times. So I thought it about time to compose my list of five essential items for a Desert Island. Before starting this opinion on my desert island, I am going to make some assumptions to help guide my choices. I am going to make the assumption that the Island has a sufficient supply of running potable water, a sustainable supply of food which I can harvest/replant as and when I require and a sustainable supply of suitable basic building materials. The water could come from either gathered rainfall or from a natural spring. The food could come in various plant/animal forms so as to provide a balanced healthy diet. ...Ok, I have been asked this question many times and well it taken me a long time to come up with some items which would be useful and convenient to have. ~~ 5 Things I would take to a desert island ~~ oO Machete Oo Yes the one weapon & tool which I would not be able to live with out on a desert island. Not only could I use it as defence but I would be able to cut down plants, prepare food and cut open coconuts. It would also be useful for cutting firewood and starting a fire. Well the list of practical things to use a machete for are probably endless so I shall just leave it at that. oO Metal Water Flask/Bottle Oo If im going to have my own fresh water and there may not be a fresh water spring/stream/pool so I would have to convert salt water into freshwater, by boiling it and collecting the pure water. ...Once again I am going to follow up one of my more serious ops with something a little more lighthearted. Now let me think .....If I was marooned on a desert island, what five items would I take with me? Music! ...... Now you might think that this was something that I really wouldnt need,but I dont see it that way at all.My singing is bad at the best of times but it is even worse when I dont have any background music to drown out the notes that dont quite make it to the pitch they are supposed to.....now picture me,stuck on my island, singing away, completely off key.If you were paddling by in you canoe and heard the noise and saw a loony woman, mouth open wailing like a Banshee Would you pull in and pick me up? No you wouldn't, you would paddle past as fast as you could,so you see I have to have my music, something groovy... Read review

...Ok, so many directions to take here - i will check out two senarios but with my luck im likely to be stranded via option two! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The simple setting of a desert island: a fantasy, a tropical and untouched natural island full of beautiful plants and butterflys!, fresh fruit such as grapes, melon, pineapple and mangoes and of course no beasties in the woods nor the sea!! Enjoy -- yes indeed -- So therefore I would take; 1) ((my world, my joy, my sanity)) my daughter - to enjoy the island with me. 2) suncream, sun, sea sand = = = sunburn, no thanks... 3) unlimited supply of chocolate icecream - i couldnt survive anywhere without it 4) one of those funky mobile phones - 'smart phones' (solar powered of course - hehe!) perfect = surf the net, keep in touch with mates... ...It took quite some time to come up with this list but I hope you find the end result intriguing. 5 – My books. I am an avid reader. I seem to have this deep need to have the written word entering my brain whenever possible. I couldn’t survive without reading matter. In fact, I’ve even been known to read the back of the bleach bottle while sitting on the toilet. One book that would be useful on a desert island would be one called ‘How to Make a Raft Using Only Sand.’ 4) My Chess-set. I am far from being a chess master but I do like the odd game. That’s when I can find someone to play against. I often play against myself but it’s not quite the same. I always know what I’m going to do.
