Street Life's DESCRIPTIONS about STREET EDUCATION
Review of Street Education (Method Man Presents) [PA] - Street Life by  DJ_primo

Advantages: Street Life's spectacular lyricism is stellar like A STAR and IS BORN within each song.
Disadvantages: Filler songs with atrocious beats that make my ears HUNG in THESE hideous STREETS!

...was, are any of the production or provision of instrumentals from alternative beat-makers on 'STREET EDUCATION', creative enough to grab my attention? Allow me to give y'all Ciao readers an education, of WHAT I EXPERIENCED from each track and my opinion of these songs from a lyrical and musical standpoint. WHAT I EXPERIENCED I checked out the 'Street Education' album in November 2007. As I was listening to the CD, Street Life guided me along 15 tracks, detailing his story of poverty, hustling days and encountering rivalry crews. As he gave DESCRIPTIONS of the nature of his hood life, he taught me that living with the pressure of dismal projects, is his SWEETEST PAIN of survival. He went through tough times of hustling and robbing to eat, living a rough life on the streets, plagued with gang culture... Read review

Educating children at home
Review of Member Advice on Education by  Kukana

Advantages: higher adult/child ratio, no peer pressure, work at the child's pace, greater social skills, wider opportunities for careers
Disadvantages: can be a little scary at first stepping outside the system

...at adult education classes, if they are available locally. They can take correspondence courses, although those can be expensive. Or they can simply study at home, have assignments marked by friends, and then take the exams at a school or college when the time comes. The great thing is, exams can be done at whatever age is appropriate for the children in question. A couple of years ago, a five-year-old got GCSE maths. This year, a 12-year-old got an A-level Information Technology. These are the ones who make the news, because they're so unusual. But there are also home educated teenagers who might take five GCSEs over five or more years. Each subject can be studied in depth, at the student's own pace. There is no pressure to take the large numbers of exams that schools encourage, because there are no league tables for home educators... Read review

Education Studies at SHU
Review of Education Studies by  sianciao

Advantages: Friendly staff, keep job options open, Sheffield, Work Experience
Disadvantages: Work Placements aren't always as hoped for

...and links to different themes. Such as; race, religion, gender (and many more). -Preparing for Work Based Learning - This module was taken in the first semester of the first year and is designed to prepare you for going into the work place. You compile a report on a school or educational institution of interest. This is designed in order to ensure that you know what you're doing once you get out into the world of work placement. -How do we learn? - In this module we looked at our own learning and linked this to theories of learning from literature. This module taught us how to use the library and how to search for journals using LitSearch (Sheffield Hallam's link to Journal Databases). - Observing Learners and Professionals - The first time we were let loose on the world of education. This was the first work placement, we were... Read review

Advantages: see opinion

...and Designers Clothes may be well out of your reach. State Education Pro’s - Its’ free!! Obviously this is a major advantage as it means that absolutely anyone can afford to send their child to school. - Transport is often provided for students living longer distances away – this reduces the pressure on the parents for having to pick up/drop off their children. - Generally your children will mix with a larger proportion of the local community – obviously there are more ethnic minorities at state schools so your child will learn more about different cultures and be more tolerant towards them. - Some state schools have excellent teachers and academic records – why pay money if you have a good state school round the corner? - Some state schools do offer a wide variety of non-curricular activities, so if your child... PRIVATE EDUCATION - is it really worth the money
Review of Member Advice on Education by  Pumpkin

Advantages: See opinion
Disadvantages: See opinion

...Following some discussion which has been taking place on one of the Yahoo Groups of which I am a member, I thought I would write an opinion on private education. I myself was privately educated from the ages of 9 to 16. I attended a state run, Church of England primary school from the ages of 5 until 9, at which point I sat the entrance exam for what is now one of the top performing independent girls’ schools in the country and was successful in gaining a place. Shortly after that, a family house move to a different area was necessitated, so I transferred to a smaller, less well-known independent girls’ school, where I stayed from the age of 10 through to 16. I then attended the sixth form of a mixed state school for two years. This opinion draws on my own experiences, plus those of friends and acquaintances who have both attended... Read review

UWIC-University of Wales Institute Cardiff
Review of University of Wales Institute - Faculty of Art, Design & Technology by  Suziwann

Advantages: Own bus and nightclub. Cheap beer and excellent education.
Disadvantages: Can't think of one

...University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC) has been a university since 1998. It was formerly known as Cardiff Institute of Higher Education, Llandaff Technical College and years before that it was the college for Mariners. UWIC quickly gained an award for excellence. UWIC has four sites across the city. Each campus has many different schools. Colchester Avenue- Catering and Hospitality. Howard Gardens- Art. Cyncoed- Teaching and Sport. Llandaff- Sciences, IT, Business, Design Technology, Art, Horticulture. There are about 10,000 students at UWIC across the four sites. UWIC has an active Students' Union which has its own bus service, bars and even has an interest in a night club in the city centre called Reds. Although UWIC already has an adequate provision of halls, 2005 will see the opening of brand new student... Read review

The Design Museum (London)
Review of Design Museum (London) by  jouk04

Advantages: Good collection
Disadvantages: Admission expensive

...and want to come and see some of the things they have read about and seen in books also good. I may be wrong and I know they do have an educational policy, which I think is limited to guiding groups of school children round, but I don’t think you will get much more than this. I only object because they have set themselves up in a profile sense as ‘The’ Design Museum, like they are the definitive word on the subject the foremost authority, because they have a few of the top class artifacts in their possession, and they are not. It is misleading and unrepresentative of what they are. In fact I did not want to write a bad review on this but I was a bit disappointed when I went It was overpriced and the display units were tatty, it looked unfinished in which case why did they open. If you are interested in interior design and furnishings through... Read review
