Why BMI Diamond Club
Review of British Midland Diamond Club by  phil2001

Advantages: Can earn BMI points using BMI partners
Disadvantages: None I can think of yet

...I have been a member of the BMI Diamond Club for the past two years now and would be lost without it since I fly with BMI quite regulary. Membership is free and is quite simple to join. They have to different points that they give you: Membership - These are issued for each reward and determine card level Destination - These are your actual free flight or car hire certs. MEMBERSHIP LEVELS blue card membership On check-in, you're allowed 20Kg additional free baggage allowance, and you get priority on stand-by availability on bmi flights. If you're travelling with just hand luggage you can also use the telephone check-in facility on flights leaving from the UK and ROI even when you're travelling on an economy ticket. Rushden and Diamonds. An away fans view.
Review of Rushden & Diamonds by  andycharger

Advantages: A great ground, loads of financial backing
Disadvantages: Poor signposting

...With the demise of my beloved Wrexham into the perils of 3rd Division football once more, it has allowed me to visit footballs grounds that I have never been to before. This in turn allows me to add to my already large "away fans view" section on here. While I have been in the 3rd division before, the subject of this opinion is experiencing league footbal for only the second season. That is right. Rushden and Diamonds. Where are they? Located deep in Northamptonshire, Rushden and Diamonds are a colaborative of 2 local teams that have progressed through the non league echelons to end up in the 3rd division. They are West of northampton and quite near to their biggest local rivals, Kettering Town. How to get there? By Car, you need to be heading along the A14. From Cambridge direction, you need to head West along the A... Read review

UP UP & AWAY
Review of British Midland Diamond Club by  purdy

Advantages: Earn miles to travel in style
Disadvantages: Cant think of any

...If you have ever read any of my recent Ciao reviews they are usually about travel. So it would come as no surprise if l were to say that l was a member of a few frequent flyer programmes. At present we are concentrating on our BMI Diamond Club cards. For any flights we have to make to London Heathrow, from Belfast City, BMI are the only carrier making the journey so we are not left with much of an option but to use them. BMI are part of the larger allegiances of carriers known as Star Alliance – this is where a grouping of carriers join forces, code share and promotes their flights to various destinations, over and above other carriers. Within the Star Alliance family at present along with BMI we have: * Air Canada • Air New Zealand • ANA • Asiana Airlines • Austrian • LOT Polish... Read review

Just Ask for Diamond is a hidden gem
Review of Just Ask For Diamond DVD by  CaptainDisaster

Advantages: Funny, great performances, parodic material of The Maltese Falcon et al
Disadvantages: The humour occasionally falls a bit flat

...Just Ask For Diamond is an affectionate spoof of old detective film noir, particularly the Maltese Falcon. It is (finally!) proof that among the dross that inhabits the 99p DVDs, there are some gems (groan…sorry, couldn't stop myself from using that awful pun…). Tim Diamond (Spades were already taken, and Tim Club or Tim Heart would have sounded silly) is a (very) failed former copper (policeman for those uninitiated in the wonderful world of English slang), who has gone on to set up his own Private Investigator business. He's utterly gormless and when he watches Philip Marlow detective movies, he has to have almost every plot twist explained to him by his smarter, much younger brother Nick. Trouble with the business is, there's not much call for PI work in Camden… until, that is, a South American dwarf named Jonnie Naples walks... Read review

WILL YOU B MI BABY?
Review of British Midland Diamond Club by  sue.51

Advantages: Can get free flights and earn miles from a variety of sources
Disadvantages: Unless you are a serious frequent flyer, it could take you a long time

...In light of the fact that I am now waiting for around 7 hotels to be listed on Ciao, and that I walked out of the only hotel in disgust for the only one they have listed, (you will have to wait now until I take advantage of my free visit) and I am dithering over whether to go to Australia in a few weeks time, but nervous of the thought of 24 hours on a plane, I thought I would try writing on something completely different, so here I am, be gentle with me. BMI Diamond club, as its name suggests is a loyalty club membership for British Midland customers, the UK’s second full airline carrier. Therefore the most logical way to sign up, is when booking a flight with them. You can however, also sign up for a BMI Classic or Platinum Mastercard with MBNA, where you will currently receive 20,000 destination miles (sufficient for one short... Read review

Well done Rushden and Diamonds
Review of Rushden & Diamonds by  Mikew79

Advantages: Neat, compact and modern ground
Disadvantages: Some way to go

...are diamond shaped. The stadium staff were polite and friendly and showed me personally to my seat - a rare treat these days. There was plenty of legroom, much appreciated if you are over 6 feet tall. The club shop has a section devoted to discounted Doc Martens footware. The team have recently appointed a new manager, Barry Hunter and he certainly seems to have everyone's support. Although I felt that his team started somewhat nervously they have a mixture of players with top flight experience and some younger players. The goals were scored by captain Stuart Gray and Billy Sharp. If they play with such spirit and commitment then then can look forward to next season with some confidence.... Read review

Fly and earn!
Review of BMI Diamond Club by  Dan_ep

Advantages: Part of the Star Alliance
Disadvantages: Ties you in.. takes a while to collect rewards

...I have just joined the BMI diamond club, the frequent flyer programme for BMI. I am due to do quite a bit of travelling this year so thought I'd earn points to hopefully get a free flight or hotel stay at the end! I looked around at the different programmes available, and the diamond club seems to be the best on the Star Alliance for a UK based traveller. Earning ----------- You can earn with a variety of 'partners', be it hotels, airlines, car rental etc.. Present your card or number when booking. There are 'destianation miles' which accumulate to determine the awards you can redeem. Only partners miles count as 'membership status miles' which determine the level of membership you have. (See below). These are only valid for a year. Flights and Star Alliance Miles are earnt according to the distance of the journey... Read review

Nice little earner
Review of British Midland Diamond Club by  craigmc73

Advantages: Bigger Seats, Friendly staff, Good booking system
Disadvantages: no sandwiches or free net use

...I've been a member of the diamond club now for almost a year due to my work in London for the past 10 months, basically you get 30 points per flight (Man - LHR) and the free flights start at around 400 points. During the quiet periods BMI have double your points offers on flights so your points add up quickly. The member lounges are very tidy and have a great selection of drinks, the London Heathrow has an additional lounge for silver & gold members the difference being that it has a bar and doesn't get as busy. The Manchester lounge is quite small and also has a small separate area for Silver/Gold members but does get very busy in the morning . . .. you have a choice of fresh tea/coffee plus many juices and the usual cakes/croissants. The staff at both airports are always very polite/helpful and up for some pleasant chat... Read review

improved free travel
Review of British Midland Diamond Club by  iainkay1

Advantages: better than ba
Disadvantages: not as generous as before

...Diamond Club is the frequent flyers club of British Midland BMI. This airline flies to most major UK and European cities from London and in codeshare with its Star Alliance partners covers most of the world. In fact 662 destinations worldwide and growing as you can earn miles on Lufthansa, Austrian, LOT Poland, US Airways, United, Air Canada. BMI now also flying from Manchester to the US. There are three levels of Membership, Blue, Silver and Gold. These are dependant on how frequently you fly.Obviously the higher the level the better benefits. If you are a Business passenger then you can use the Lounge facilities which offer an oasis in a mad airport system. Free drinks and snacks, newspapers, magazines and you will get a call for your flight when it is ready so you avoid the crush. See how good this is for value. I am... Read review

A real diamond review
Review of The Diamond Works, Cape Town by  KELLYLOUJ

Advantages: Diamonds, tanzanite you name it!!
Disadvantages: Expensive

...During my trip to Cape Town in May of this year, I decided to enrol on one of the scheduled tours which incorporated a visit to The Diamond Works. What are "The Diamond Works"? The Diamond Works is Cape Town's most exquisite collection of jewellery, offering a rare experience to visitors. It is a destination where all visitors can learn about diamond cutting and it a fully operational diamond-cutting workshop. What is a diamond and where did it come from? Diamonds date back over 3000 years to India where they were famous for their ability to refract light in order to warn off evil. History also sates that the diamond was sometimes used as a medical aid in the hope of curing sickness which was not successful, before becoming more popular and India's supplies started to diminish, before long diamonds were located close...
