Reviews of dublin
Must visit
Review of Dublin in general by
Maribor
Advantages: Capital. loads to do and see
Disadvantages: Can be busy
...Dublin, the capital of class. The cave of the Celtic tiger is a worthy capital city, in the continental style with character and charm coming out of its ears.
Dublin a place of many faces, which you can never hope to see in a weekend. From a foundation by the Vikings to the present days, Dublin has continued to capture the imagination of visitors, captivating them with the mystery.
There is so much to do and see in Dublin I don't know where to start. For the weekend visitors the Temple Bar and grafton street are a must visit. However the art of enjoying Dublin is to do what the Irish people do.
We are known as a relaxed people so follow our lead. Stop in a pub every once in a while and be drawn into the craic, enjoy a pint of the black stuff. Don't rush anwhere, meander the narrow streets in order to find the real heart of Dublin...

great tour
Review of Dublin Castle, Dublin by
LIZZIE241079
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...Dublin castle is one of Dublin’s most loved tourist locations. It attracts tourist from all over the world. I personally love the guided tour of the buildings –showing you all the different apartments within the building. The tour is well put together and takes you on a trip of the entire life span of this beautiful building. The castle is home to some of the most amazing pieces of furniture and artefacts representing many key dates in Irish history. You are not required to book a tour – as they run every half-hour or so. A must visit for all tourist while in Dublin....

There's loads to see
Review of Dublin Castle, Dublin by
LIZZIE241079
Advantages: a great tour is provided
Disadvantages:
...Another one of Dublin’s amazing sites that has to visited by all. This castle has a mix of all centuries in it. There is a brilliant tour given by one of a number of guides provided specially by the Irish government. They guide will take you on a tour which last about 2 hours at a maximum. You are guided through the building and given a very interesting tour. There are numerous different interesting features to be seen such as the family crests of all of Irelands Presidents and the stained glass window which is dedicated to the 1916 rebels who were shot at Kilmainhaim goal.. This is a beautiful building with a vast history surrounding it....

Visiting Dublin
Review of Dublin in general by
cookiestar2000
Advantages: Great shops, great atmosphere, great city
Disadvantages: one way streets
...I recently visited Dublin with my mum and dad. We had a great time as it is a lovely city and their is plenty to do. We watched Riverdance which was excellent and spent days shopping.
When we decided to arrange a trip to Dublin we were told about the lovely towns and villages around the edge of Dublin and by the coast. To visit these places we thought we would hire a car as it would be easier than trying to catch buses which it was but if you don't live in the centre of Dublin it is a nightmare to get to a destination. You probably only need to get to the end of the road you're on but can't because of the one way signs and the one way turns. The idea is good to control traffic but to get somewhere quick isn't.
If you are going to visit Dublin for a few days i would suggest you don't hire a car unless you really know your way round...

its a exciting place
Review of Dublin in general by
DAVOG
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...Dublin city has got to be my all time favourite places to visit - there is just so much to do and see. There is something to cater for all tastes int his exciting city which lies on the banks of the Liffy. There is numerous historical sites and locations to visit as well as loads of great shopping centres although i personally prefer shopping in and around the side streets of the city as they are more exciting and give you the visitor a true sense of this brilliant city....

Wonderful CIty
Review of Dublin (Ireland) by
gaz36f
Advantages: People, history and entertainment
Disadvantages: Hotel Prices
...I first visited Dublin 6 years ago traveeling by boat from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire (a short train journey with DART to the center of Dublin). I fell in love with the place instantly. I know it is a cliche but the people were very friendly. The city is attractive and clean for the most part. As a tourist there are many historical sites. My favorite is Kilmanheim Gaol which has been restored by volunteers. This is a fascinating building and contains an interesting history from the period of British rule. For instance, this is where the leaders of the 1916 Easter Uprising were detained and then executed including James Connelly. On a lighter not, the social scene in Dublin is not to be missed. My particular favorite area is Temple Bar which houses many fine bars where you can relax in the evening with a cold pint of Guiness....

Airport Taxi Service
Review of Dublin (DUB) by
livewire
Advantages: Future journey times should be much less than normal and with less pressure, passengers should be able to hold onto that relaxed Irish atmosphere for longer.
Disadvantages: With the recent introduction of additional Taxi licences, The quality and efficency of Taxis could suffer.
...In recent times, ie. in the last three months, The Irish government has introduced an excellent initiative, that is, with the provision of Taxis within the greater Dublin area, In a recent trip to Dublin's only commercial Airport, I found that it was much easier to get Taxi transport both to and from the Airport, Some 2,000 more licences have been issued for Taxis recently and the benefit, for most travellers seems to be very aparent. Journey time from Dublin City centre to the Airport has been reletively steady, But the wait for a Taxi has been dramaticaly cut, from upto 1.5 Hours to 20 to 40 minutes.
Dublin city has also introduced a number of so called " Quality, Bus corridors, where City busses have an entire lane to themselves, however, these corridores are also accessible by Taxis, which also helps cut exhaustive journey times...

Party City
Review of Dublin in general by
elisae
Advantages: Great place
Disadvantages: None
...Dublin is definately a great place for party weekends. We arrived on a Thursday night, and the whole place was pumping. Lots of people and lots of Guiness. The Irish are very nice people, and a lot better looking than most Scottish guys. We had tree great party nights in Dublin, mostly in the Temple Bar area, but also some great afterparties. We even got time for some sightseeing in between the battles, and it truly is a beautiful city. The shopping is great, and they have lots of nice cafè's and restaurants. Definately a place to see....

BOOKS EVERWHERE
Review of National Library of Ireland, Dublin by
LIZZIE241079
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...If you are a lover of books well this tourist location is a must to visit. It is totally breath taking the volume of books that is stored in this building – I was totally amazed by this sight. The building is also a amazing example of Irish buildings. It is centrally located to Dublin’s busy city centre and easy to find. I would recommend a visit here if you are looking for any family tree records and if you are looking for a look at the book that you can locate no where at all....

WHERE ALL THE PARTIES ARE HELD
Review of Dublin Castle, Dublin by
annawcrilly
Advantages: a very interesting tour is provided
Disadvantages: if you not interested in history don't go here
...Situated on Dame Street, this building is in centre; Dublin and is only a short walking distance from all the main locations of the city.
Dublin Castle has played a pivotal role in Irish history and government for over a millennium. In the 9th century the Vikings established a hill fort on the site. It was replaced with a Norman castle in 1204. All that now remains of the 13th century castle is the Record Tower.
In the 16th century Thomas Fitzgerald, son of the Earl of Kildare laid siege to the castle and Red Hugh O'Donnell escaped twice from the Record tower. In more recent centuries the castle developed into something of a palace for viceroys and visiting English monarchs, but continued to be both the seat and the symbol of British rule in Ireland until 1922.
Above the entrance archway stands the statue of justice - "with its...
