A poorly treated gem of a programme
Review of BBC2 - Due South by  KatiePuckrik

Advantages: Original and funny
Disadvantages: Now de-funct

...British TV is rubbish! British TV executives are the most talentless bunch of grade-A tosspots I know. Their mentality is this: take a half-original idea for a show...then make a dozen different copies then plaster them all over the schedules until everyone is sick to death of them! We've seen it with cookery shows, reality TV, talent shows, pets rescue, the list goes on and flipping on! It is also another law of British TV executive mentality, that the more original and fresh a TV show is...the worse and worse they will treat it. Take "Seinfeld" for instance. That is a really funny and original show. What do they do? Slam it on at mid-night and then say, "nobody watches it"! ITV did a similar thing with "Married with Children". Due South sadly fell into this category. This was a show about a noble Canadian mountie called... Read review

Simply funny as hell.
Review of BBC2 - Due South by  pefidler

Advantages: Funny, and great to watch
Disadvantages: No new series planned....:-(

...I don't know how they do it, but the mixture of humour and sadness is great in Due South. The BBC deserve an award for bringing Due South back from the ashes. The show was originally cancelled after the first series, but the BBC ploughed some dosh into it, giving the show a new lease of life. The show's humour is very dry and understated. It is clever, which is probably why the show had no future in north America. The interaction between Benny and Ray is great. Such a mixture of culture and values... It's great how the mountie always gets his man, although how is gets them is never apparent until the end Diefenbaker makes the show just that bit more screwy, as do the supporting cast. If you get the chance to see it, do so. It is great entertainment.... Read review

Original and good storylines...
Review of BBC2 - Due South by  fiisch

Advantages: great storylines
Disadvantages: Not pulling my attention

...The storyline in Due South is always outstanding, especially in comparision to similar programs. It is always about interesting crimes and the end result is unpredictable. The dog is a great actor and really livens up the show, as for the mountie... I just wish he didn't have an obsession with licking the clues and finding more clues out of impossible fragments of evidence. The idea of his dead father being able to speak to him is a little irritating but overall its a good show. The mountie's cop friend is a good actor and the car also plays a role in the series. I do not always watch Due South as it is not the best series I have seen but it does rate very highly and I would most definately recommend it to a friend as once you have watched it, it does grow on you.... South Yorkshire - A Summary In Under 1800 Words.
Review of South Yorkshire In General by  micksheff

Advantages: Lots of contrast, Plenty of attractions and history
Disadvantages: Quite Industrial in areas

...th largest County in England. However with a total population of 1,366,023 people it is ranked 10th by population. The County of South Yorkshire is a relatively new one. It was created as a Metropolitan County in 1974 following the Local Government Act of 1972. It was formed in the Southern part of the former West Riding of Yorkshire. At this time there was an obvious need to sub-divide the County of Yorkshire, which was huge and had become almost unmanageable due its size. This new County of South Yorkshire had borders with Derbyshire to its South and West, West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire to its North West and North, plus the East Riding of Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire to its East and South East. The Counties of West and North Yorkshire had been created by the same Parliamentary act that created South Yorkshire... Read review

feel good show
Review of BBC2 - Due South by  jo1l

Advantages: great feel good telly
Disadvantages: too tired now

...Due South is basically about the innocent mountie from the back woods who ends up the best freind of a hardened Chicago detective. It's pure slush and really isnt worth watching any more I loved the first series but now its looking a bit jaded. It was really quite a nice concept at first but the hero is just too nice for words! It wasnt too badly acted and some of the filming and plots werent too bad. But me thinks its time too send the mountie back were he belongs - in the sticks. This is too sickly sweet for words!... South Park Rally
Review of South Park Rally (N64) by  Snowdrift

Advantages: Believable South Park stlye graphics in a 3Dworld
Disadvantages: An aquired taste

...! The first quality that you notice in this game is the feel, fans of the cartoon show will instantly recognize the settings and feel right at home in the south park world, the visuals are obviously a step up from the 2D graphics you treated to in the TV show but you still feel as though you’re racing in an authentic South Park episode. The visuals recreate what we see in the TV show into a colorful, jaw dropping 3D world, you simply whiz past the beautiful scenery wile playing but you’ll be forgive for slowing down to gaze at it’s beauty it really is a wonder to look at. The game is an improvement over it’s Playstation counterpart due to the PS version having shoddy graphics, terrible collision detection and no more than 2 in multiplayer! Each character has it’s own car and style as you may have guessed, Cartman... Read review

South Africa - A World of its own
Review of General: South Africa by  Sweetiesarahjane

Advantages: It is beautiful, lots of things to do and see, good tourist facilities for both families and travellers, this place is amazing all round!
Disadvantages: Some areas can be very dangerous - but then most countries do

...with good facilities. My favourite airport was Johannesburg airport. There were literally loads of facilities and loads of places to go, there were designer clothes shops, with things like Calvin Klein, etc, but the prices are great due to the exchange rate. There are great music shops, with all of the stuff we have here and more. There are some that are not brilliant, but there are none that I disliked. Warning though, some people try to take your trolley places and make you pay for their services. Tell them a firm no, because they are ripping you off. PLACES TO GO There are many places you can visit in South Africa. It could fit 3 UK’s in it and that is South Africa alone! You will probably need a map! CAPE TOWN A generally safe place where there is beautiful seas and sights. If you go there then I thoroughly recommend... Read review

South Africa. The Ultimate Holiday Option
Review of General: South Africa by  riaan

Advantages: Spectacular scenery, friendly people always willing to help, great value for money!
Disadvantages: Ongoing worries about crime, other than that perhaps sunburn.

...as a port for their ships travelling to the East. The French Hugenots (protestants driven from their own country) arrived early 1700’s and brought with them the fine art of winemaking. Some of the world’s best wines (in my opinion) still come from the Cape / Stellenbosch area. The British Settlers arrived in 1820, and South Africa eventually fell under British rule after 2 bloody wars. It became a republic in 1961, and round that time resigned from the Commonwealth due to the troublesome racial policies. Things have slowly been improving over the last 10 years since the release of former President Mandela from Robben Island prison (a wonderful trip from Cape Town harbour every day!). A new government is in power and South Africa is once again establishing itself as the economic superpower of the African continent. Crime... Read review

The Revival of South Central
Review of South Central Railway by  pumfster

Advantages: Much better than they used to be.
Disadvantages: Still a way to go.

...Well I know that this train company is still listed in Ciao as Connex South Central, but for the last year and a bit, this train service has changed hands. It is now run by a company called Govia, under the new name South Central. Having been in Brighton now in university for three years I have seen first hand how the train service has been running here. When I arrived, Connex was in charge down here and had a fairly bad reputation. With an open mind, I used this service on many occasions, on both the longer routes into London and to Gatwick Airport, in addition to the suburban routes to the university station at Falmer. However, after a few months I came to realise that Connex reputation was well deserved. Often late, cancellations were common place and overcrowding due to lack of available rolling stock. To make matters worse... Read review

Gaze With The Beautiful South
Review of Beautiful South, The - in concert by  AnitaM

Advantages: Fantastic night out; professional performance
Disadvantages: Set only lasted 1 1/2 hours

...number one hit from the late 80s. After each of her solo verses the audience cheered which was a nice touch. Alison takes her place in the Beautiful South as the third female vocalist and I think when replacing Jackie, who left the band three years ago, the rest of the group were looking for someone with a similar sounding voice. If that is the case then they’ve found her. When singing songs such as “Rotterdam” and “Perfect 10”, it was difficult to remember that she hadn’t sung on the tracks when they were hits. Throughout the set, we were treated to new tracks, “Just a few things that I ain’t”, “Pretty”, “Let go with the flow” and “101% man” mixed in with a variety of their old stuff. “Just a few things that I ain’t” was the first single to be released from the Gaze album and probably due to lack of airplay and lack of publicity from...
